My pretty, young wife is joining my on my 11 day April trip to Rio (I know, spare me the lectures on bringing sand to the beach). We are going with a long time experienced Rio monger as our guide. My wife came along on our last trip and the only club we could get her in to was L'homo. We had a blast. We went three nights in a row and on one night she picked out three girls and we partied like rock stars in one of their super suites. My wife did choreography that an Olympic gymnast would be proud of.

At our hotel she picked out girls from the book a Karlea model brought to our hotel. We partied for 9 of our 10 days in Rio. This trip my wife wants to enjoy men too and has asked me to research swingers clubs. The monger we know knows nothing of the "Lifestyle" so I am asking the experts. She also wants to do the G-rated tourist thing.

Question 1? Are there any swinger clubs in Rio? My wife would like a little action herself and she is a superstar.

Question 2? Does anyone know if any other termas allow American women?

Question 3? What is a safe and organized way to take my wife to see the normal tourist stuff in Rio? Are their English speaking tours (buses) that will pick you up at your hotel?

Last time we stayed at the Princess Copacabana. On this trip we are staying at the Visconti for 7 nights (a bit expensive with the drastic drop in the dollar) and then going to Buzios for 2 nights before returning to the US.

Question 4. Has anyone stayed at the Visconti? We were told the beach near the hotel is where the Help girls hang out? True?

Question 5. Any ideas on how to get to Buzios from Rio?

Question 6. Would my wife we welcome at a fiesta? She may decide to party with everyone or no one and she does not want to feel pressured?

1. Solarium runs swinger parties I believe on Sunday. Ask them.
2. Only Solarium.
3. Hotel tours are fine. Frankly I just take a taxi, you'll be fine during the day.
4. Never stayed there.
5. Take a bus. You can get it at your hotel.
6. If you organize the festa, then you can invite anyone you want.

try cafe paris or 2a2. used to be the main places, cafe paris is huge but it is out past barra.

Solarium does not have swingers night any more and hasn't for a while. I think the Terma in Barra da Tiuca (Praia 400) will allow your wife in also. There are many swing clubs in Rio but that is not my field so I can't comment on any. Have fun as it sounds like you will. - Hemp

Its been awhile since I've been, thanks for the update.

For swing clubs in Rio you can't go wrong with 2a2 (Dois a dois) in Copacabana. It is on R.Figueiredo do Maghalia going away from the beach on the left hand side after you cross Rua Tonelero. Probably have been at least 20 times last year. You must have a women accompany you. Wednesday and Saturday nights were the best nights IMO.

Also have been to Club Paris (only Saturdays I think) but it is a long way past Barra da Tuica. this place is crazy with a lot of younger people.

The Viconti is a nice place, very pricey these days but nice. It's one block from the beach, up the street from Caesar Park. There is a small GdP scene in front of Caesar Park but not much of the Help crowd. They are in Copa in front of the Rio Othon, the large Praia das Putas that everyone always talks/writes about. The puta scene is much, much smaller in Ipanema.

6. Not a problem. Just make sure you invite guys who will respect her limits. I've done festas that included American women; they work best when the woman gets into the spirit of it.

#3. have Don set you up with a private driver. The time you will save over a bus tour is worth it. He also knows all the little hole-in-the-wall places a tour won't go.

You can take a taxi or private car to Buzios, I have paid between R$200 and R$300 for the service. This is a good way to go, that way you are on your own schedule, you can stop when you want. I like to drink beer on the way to pass the time. Last time I negotiated a R$250 ride from one of the drivers at Caesar Park directly (the hotel bellman told me R$475). It was a small SUV type with leather seats and the driver was a nice guy. The other thing about heading to Buzios is that you want to leave Zona Sul no later than 2 PM to avoid traffic on the way to the bridge, especially if it is a Friday - there may be lots of like minded folks.

Problem is hygiene. No showers, it is a bar.

There is also a Henri Clube, at least it was, at a termas at praia do Pepe 400, on weekends.

If you stop over at my place, bring Globo Newspaper and I look at the termas and escort ads, we can find some Swing Places there.

My wife and I will be around and about town with your friend the doc from Las Vegas .. you know who he is. He heard from Hemp that everything is closed on Friday when we arrive due to Easter so I guess that will be the day to do the tourist thing unless the sites will be packed by locals? Will HELP be open Friday night? Will the Termas be open over Easter weekend?

Help only closes one day of the year - Christmas Eve. From what I hear ALL Termas will be closed Good Friday but all open for business again Sat & Sun except for the downtown Termas which are always closed on weekends.
