I made a recent trip to Cali Colombia for a TLC Tour. Perhaps you can learn from my experiences. To begin I booked my ticket with American Business Class. I am glad I did. First I missed my connecting flight. So American rebooked me on Avianca via Bogota first Class. My luggage was lost for about 3 days. If you go I reccomed a carry on. It is a nightmare to get it and require multiple trips to the airport.
I stayed at the Hotel. I syayed on a Club Floor. the rooms were better than most Top of the line Asian Hotels. Skip the breakfast at the Hotel if you have time. The food is not that good. The advantage of the TLC tour was meeting a lot of other guys that became friends and were interested in the same thing I was meeting girls. I found the City to be safer than most larger USA Citys. English is not widely spoken. I bought a Sekio Electronic translator and found it a pain to use. A dictionary would have been better. The more spainish you know the more ladies.You can find a few free lance guides in the Hotel Lobby to show you the Nightlife. They are inexpensive and worth the money. Cali is a Meat and Potatoe food kinds of town. I love it and the prices are great. Clothing is of high quality and better than tailored clothing in Thailand. Colombia produces it's own fabric. I am glad my retun flight was Business Class because i avoided standing in line.

I must say that Cali does have the most beautiful non-pro women willing to have lots of sex with gringos. I have been top BA, Rio, Costa Rica and Cartagena...I will always put cali as #1 on my list for sex with non-pros..it's easy to get laid and 95% of the time you will have a true GFE.

Hummm.....that's a good question. Here is my answer based on my observations of travelling and partying in Colombia on numerous occassions. Colombian women have a very strong desire to come to USA. It's true that what they picture to be an American is someone who looks anglo. Blond hair, blue or green eyes and white skin. However, I do not look that way. I actually look spanish and what really made me win with the non-pros is my ability to just be cool and have a great time with them dancing. DANCING IS VERY IMPORTANT WITH NON-PROS. The rule is simple: IF You can dance, You can get LAID! I would suggest going to a a local latin club and inquire on some SALSA lessons like I did. I met many women this way. My female ratio increaseed exponentially! To summarize, I do not think you would have a problem, if your spanish is decent, your dance skills are decent and you treat them right and with respect...not to mention that you stress you are an AMERICAN...you will get laid frequently!

Thanks for the good input on Cali. I'm planning on being in Cali from May 8-22. I'm pretty familiar with Colombia. I got married in Medellin in 1993 and have been there 6 times since. You're definitely right about Colombian women wanting to meet american men. The danger situation in Colombia has made gringos an uncommon sight, and you are treated very special.

I've got a question about the Hotel Winsor Plaza. Do they have in-room safes, and what's the cable-tv channel selection like?

Sorry I took a couple of days to answer you. The HWP has in rooms safe and it's actually in a great location off avenida sexta where all the bars and lots of casas are. You will enjoy it! The cable TV channels are something I did not enjoy too much...ESPN only shows soccer matches..no american football!! damn! I missed some great games during my last trip in November..but what the heck..I was getting laid 4 times a day by a beautiful non-pro ...you can get cartoon network, animal planet, and lots of music video channels from Europe! All of the channels are dubbed in spanish, however..and watching Jeff Corwin catch Cobras on the Animal Planet channel speaking spanish was very entertaining. I will be in Cali from May 5th thru the 20th..heck maybe even a trip before that time..send me an e-mail we'll make plans to screw every Shakira look-a-like woman in sight! I can use a good wingman. I've been going to Cartagena (CTG) more than other places in CO. Been to Cali once about 4 years ago. Want to go back there and would also like to check out Medellin. I am a big fan of Colombia. I have been to Cartagena, Medellin, and Brazil.
I recently went to Cartagena and the hottest women came from CALI.

I am 24, black american, in shape, and from Miami. How is the safety there these days? Would this trip be recommended for a 4-5 day excursion?

I would not recommend Cali. It is the most dangerous of the major cities mostly because of a high unemployment rate.

However, with your experience in Colombia you could probably survive. Just be very careful.

Been there many times with no problems but my last trip was more than a year ago. However, I understand that things are less "safe" than when I was there. I do agree that Cali requires heightened vigilence, you'll see a lot more armed guards and patrols everywhere, even in the nicer Northern areas of the City which is nicer and where most of the activites are.

You'll likely not see another non-local and it's rare to find anyone that speaks English. I'd go for 2-3 days max, unless you hook up with a novia. The non-pro scene is really great and I do agree that gals from Cali can be incredibly sexy.
