So I am starting to do background reading and the thread on VM got me pretty stoked as I like exploring areas such as that one.

I am wondering if there are other like areas not just in Rio but other brazilian cities. Can anyone put up a list of like places that they know of? Would love to check them out and would most certainly report back.

Belo Horizonte has a district of cheap casas near the bus station, one of my faves, if you go for the down and dirty. Literally hundreds of rooms all totaled. Cheapest I ever paid was 5R.

There is a report on it in CH someone did a while back, though it does come off like a Three Stooges episode.

In Sao Paulo there is a 8 or 9 story building in the middle of Centro that has some similarities (sometimes referred to as eight or nine floors of whores), although while I have enjoyed Vila Mimosa I found the Sao Paulo place to be a bit too much (i.e., in terms of sleaziness, etc). I wrote it up in the original version of my guide to Sao Paulo (posted on CH) but inadvertently left it out of the second edition (although I believe I may have included a description of the place in the thread that followed).

I haven't visited Belo Horizonte yet, but based on what I have read and heard that place may also be worth checking out.

LA guy, a building sleasier then Vila Mimosa? Hard to believe.

At Vila Mimosa, there is piss stench, as the guys piss against the walls in the streets.

When I asked for a shower, they were shocked: "what do you need a shower for"?

You can surpass Vila Mimosa? Well I once saw a place in Bombay that surpassed it, but I did not have the guts to take a closer look there.

Vila Mimosa would be nice if, instead of R$ 5 filth rooms someone would offer R$ 10 decent or R$ 15 nice rooms, as an option.


By the way, Help would be a great place if it were not spoiled by the overpaying under-demanding gringoes.

And, in my opinion, termas would be a great place if they would accept part timers and required a mandatory retirement after 1 year on the job. That is what makes karla models great, almost no girl stays longer then a few months there.

I have not visited the big house in SP, but would imagine it to be similar to the area in Belo, which I call "Shopping Knocking."
