I plan on traveling to Rio during April for 6 dyas. It will be (5) guys ages 23-28 from Miami.
What would be the best economical accomodations for us? What are some apartments rates during early April? What are you recommendations for buddies that travel together?

More importantly, what is your groups budget?
Economical in Miami may mean high end, mid range or low end in Rio.
$100 per night per guy? $300 per night per guy? $50 per night per guy?
Economical is always a relative term.
PM me with details. I may be able to help. Maybe not!

Well...our budget for a 3 bedroom or 2 bdroom is as follows:
2 bd. -$150 - $200
3 bd. - $180 - $225
4 bd. - $275 - $450
Something in that ballpark.

Five guys in one apartment? Or are you looking to rent multiple places in the same building? Everyone will need a bedroom, right?

Five guys in one apartment is usually a recipe for disaster. When guys do this, they usually are planning on some big blowout festas with 10-15 garotas, etc. These gigs are a very effective means of pissing off the neighbors and assuring that the apartment will never again be rented to single men.
Consider multiple apartments, and plan to hold your festas at love motels.
Try the Ipanema Tower Residence. For about $125/night you can rent a 2-bedroom place. Get three of them for the five of you for $375, but don't plan on festas in the apartments.

The only reason why we would like an apartment is for the guest policy. I stayed at Atlantico Copacabna and had issues with bringing 1 girl up even though I had a single room registered just for me.
Yes, we will have multiple apartments. I just need some good recommendation on nice 2 or 3 bedroom apts.
How are these Ipanema Towers on allowing one female guest per bedroom? Im not planning any festas. I like the termas and arranging all nighter with terma girl. One is enough for me. My four friends have never been to Rio so they surely see that more than one is pushing it.

Ipanema Tower is all doubles/triples. If you have two guys staying there, they may or may not charge you extra for bringing girls up. Keep in mind it's an upscale place with families living in there, so the Atlantico Copacabana it's not.
All rooms at the Atlantico are a double, so if you were in a room by yourself there should have been zero problems taking one garota at a time up. They have to register and only one at a time but otherwise, I've seen every form of GdP going up those elevators. Believe me, if they didn't let a garota up, it's probably a good thing. Maybe she tried to steal something or caused problems on a prior visit. Amerigo, the night guy, has seen them all at one point or another.

If you're dragging in Help girls dressed like, uhmmm, well, WHORES, they'll give you grief, because it is a family place. If the girls show up dressed in fairly normal outfits like those that most termas girls wear to work, you shouldn't have a problem. But it's not the place to crank up the noise and party no matter how few women you bring in.

Cato,
Americo had to retire earlier this year due to his Parkninson's disease progression. Rene said that he was doing much better since he is sleeping at night. Just thought you might want to know.
And you are correct, I never saw any ladies with proper id turned away. Of course, all of my lady friends are very polished and angelic(?) but I have seen some rather, uh, extreme ladies come through in the night.

I stayed at Ipanema Tower this past August. I was never charged for having ladies in the room.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to stay.
