Hello all, After going to Cali every six weeks for the past year and a half a bit of violence finally hit home,, after a nice fun filled day with the NOVIA in el centro, on the way home in the taxi we stopped at my apartamento and she gets out to open the door and puts the key in the door to open it, i tell the cab driver to drive on, because i was on my way for a 7pm massage apointment, I get a call two minutes later from her brother panicking on is cell phone that my baby was held-up two minutes ago in front of the apratment by 3 men and one woman on dirt bikes, who strongheld her and physically removed her cell phone, told her to be quiet OR ELSE and then sped-off and left her physically and emotionally in distress, I get home to find her crumbled-up on the kitchen floor in shock and unstopable crying, i try to console her to no avail, telling her that thank-god she is alive and not hurt or dead and that the superficial products can be easily replaced, and thank-god that that they didnt go into the apartment and rob the place WITH ALL MY STUFF including laptop and ipod, etc etc, why didnt they go in? because this was a random act and they didnt know whom or what was waiting for them inside, my CUNADO told me that this was a random normal day in CALI and just another statistic, which i sorrily agree to, but this really hit close to home and opened my eyes even more, to see this once proud, beautiful, strong CALENA, reduced to a mere statistic! ON ANOTHER NOTE, a very good friend of mine who is in CTG, the same times as me during the feria in CALI, HAS just told me that girls in CTG are asking for 300k ST and Beach girls are asking 150k, CHEAPEST or walking!!, i dont know if this is because it is peak season or something here to stay,, now take it, this is coming from the mouth of a very seasoned monger who has been in COLOMBIA, DR, CR, BRAZIL and CUBA! ITS official, CTG is RUINED and ANOTHER CR, end of story! which city will be next? Peace mongers and be safe "CHINO"

Hmmmm, it sounds to me she is making it up so you give her money and/or a new cell phone. Either way is bad. If you get her another, better cell phone chances are she will get robbed again if indeed that is what happened.

I say you buy her a cheaper cell phone, not a better one and tell her "Honey, I buy you a cheaper cell phone for your own good. I don't give you money either for your own good"

That will teach her ...

I was just in CTG and was quoted 200K TLN at LDV of all places. There are places where they will give you ridiculous quotes to start, such as some of the casas, but they can be talked down from there. It seems that in many spots in Colombia the chicas are trying to get alot of money especially if they know you're a foreigner so it helps to speak good Spanish.

My novia aint no Puta Andres, I dont give her a thing, Nor does she ask for anything, she has a good job at Exito. I did buy her another cell at TIGO though, The cheapest NOKIA they had 83k and she didnt even bat an eyelash. She was very grateful! You are talking to a seasoned monger here, I dont never ever give any novia one fricken $, Though they probably get more $ from all the dinners and rumbiando. The minute they ask for one $, they see my tire marks! Beleive me, where they are going, Ive already had a coffee and returned! lol

Sobe thanks for the story and the reminder of how dangerous it is down there. But these random acts of robbery occur all the time. I have now purchsed three cell phones for my Novia in Medellin. The first one lasted about a week before it was ripped from her back pocket as she walked with her mother in El Centro. The second one she carelessly dropped into the swimming pool at the mansion while sitting with it on her lap, with her feet in the water. (Hey she is cute as hell, but I did not say intelligent). The third one...a pink RAZR...was ripped from her hands by a guy who hit her on the side of the head with a gun while she walked in the street near her barrio home.

She has begged me for another one, but I refuse. Third time is the charge. I can talk to her on her home phone. She does not need a freakin cell phone, and frankly it is just dangerous for them to have them....especially the hot ones like the pink V3. I am tired of throwing money down a rat hole.

I have been to Medellin 12 times and never been robbed, but she gets robbed all the time...if she has anything of value.

The Centro area didn't seem too safe IMO, and the taxi drivers would speed through that area w/reckless abandon at night from Unicentro to my hotel in Versailles.

I used to go to Cali often a few years ago, but I've not been to Cali for about a year b/c I felt the most discomfort in terms of safety in this City. No troubles personally, but I did see a bunch of guards w/guns drawn chasing a dude at ChipiChape Mall (nicer area) one time and have also been hearing gals complaining about safety, even in the relatively affluent North Cali area. I've never had any trouble per se, but there are other cities in Colombia w/o as many guards/soldiers w/guns all over the malls and on street patrol.

As for CTG, some gals will start off real high, esp. at LDV, but I've been consistenly getting ST pricing that is much lower at the casas and beache FL'ers.
