was invited by Chris and Jake, the owners of this new terma. They sent their private driver to copa and picked 4 of us up and took us to centro to their new terma. This place will be great! Super facilities with a wiskeria and large boite. About 40 + girls there ( some cuties and some uglies) He said 40 more in 3 days. Entrada was 40 and a 40 min session with garota is $140 and room is 40. Great rooms! Some neat suites. Many ch members have met Jake and minority partner CHris who was bar man from Loumo.

What's the address? Thanks. Is this the bar man with the tatoos on his arms?

By Gcl on Monday, January 22, 2007 - 08:15 pm:  Edit

These are gringo owners or Brazilians?

By SF_Hombre on Monday, January 22, 2007 - 08:40 pm:  Edit

If Gringo owners now, owners soon to be of Brazilian persuasion, I'll wager...

By Catocony on Monday, January 22, 2007 - 09:00 pm:  Edit

Are these the same numnuts who tried to open Bonanio and never bothered to pay off the cops and got themselves shut down after a few months?

By Anjinho on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 06:53 am:  Edit

I had heard that a gringo was trying to buy Cancun (and NO the source was not from the garota network). Could this be the same guy? IMHO, any gringo buying a terma needs to be crazy or looking to give away money.

By Hollywd32 on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 10:15 am:  Edit

Owner is PR, and Chris is Brazilian. No Chris is the rail thin guy from a year and a half ago. You will recognize them.

By Hollywd32 on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 10:18 am:  Edit

Cat, no, not same owners. Jake is Puerto Rican, excellent english, Chris was from loumo. Everything was very modern and no expense was overlooked. Very nice. No to get more girls. I did see on who I thought looked toothless. LOL!!

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 11:29 am:  Edit

Address????? Centro's a big place. And it's really called "La Palace"? Strange...one Spanish word and one English word.

By Catocony on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 11:39 am:  Edit

It will be closed very quickly with the non-Brasilian owner. If Chris is the official owner than Jake will just be screwed out of his money by his Brasilan amigos instead of the cops.

By Anjinho on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 02:26 pm:  Edit

isn't 4x4 owned by two brothers from Portugal? They have been open for a number of years now.

By Hollywd32 on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 06:22 pm:  Edit

OK Bwana
Stand corrected. It's called Le Palace"
Does it really matter who owns it? Hell, its open now and is a really nice place. Address is - shit i lost the flyer. Will update tomorrow hoever it is 1 block from Cancun. Close to 4x4, etc. Easy walk from metro.

By Catocony on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 08:38 pm:  Edit

It's incredibly important who owns and operates the termas. Most of us have no desire to be in a police raid, right?

Termas are de facto illegal, the good ones pay a pretty penny to the police to be able to operate as openly as they do.

By Gcl on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - 05:39 am:  Edit

Owners from Portugal is an entirely different proposition than american owners, although a Portuguese citizen is technically a gringo to Brazilians.

The point is, terma owners have been paying police for a while so if a gringo comes in an competes with them the other terma owners will be pissed. Of course if they set it up right and pay bribes or have a police official or a judge or someone similar as a partner in the business then they will be okay in terms of a police problems. But a gringo owner will end up being swindled by the Brazilian owners. The Brazilians wont be able to help themselves. It always happens that way.

Hey GCL
That make sense. Heres hoping it works out for them. It really is a nice place and with a little more girls to choose from could be a great place. I guess take advantage of it until it gets closed! LOL!

so where is this in relation to 4x4.

to get to cancun from 4x4 you go out the door, turn left, go 1 block and turn right, go 2 blocks and turn left, then 1 block and turn right.

what are the directions to this new terma?

will they be open during carnival???

By Lennox on Friday, January 26, 2007 - 09:31 am:  Edit

I looked it up on a map:

From Cancun you make a right out the door, walk up Carno to Ouvidor, make a right on Ouvidor, walk about three blocks towards the water, then make a right on Mercado.

From 65 you make a right out the door and walk down Rosario for about three blocks, then make a right on Mercado and walk down about a block.

From 4x4 make a left out the door, walk down Buenos Aires to Quitanda, make a right on Quitanda, then a left on Rosario and follow directions from 65.

Correct me if this is inaccurate - online maps are not always exact.

This location makes alot of sense. It is near the Rio stock exchange. A part of the city that is picking up: nice bars, and cultural stuff nearby. I wondered why no T was ever built close by. This is off praca 15 where it is easy to get transportation and avoid Rio Branco. Bad thing is that late at night this area can get a bit dangerous. At night going to the "mergulhao" or underground throughway below the Praca to take the bus or taxi can be scary.

By Hollywd32 on Friday, January 26, 2007 - 03:42 pm:  Edit

Hey Diversity
Go out cancun, right and to corner, take right and walk two blocks. Take corner ( right ) and youre there. Too easy even I can find it in the dark!

By Lvdocc on Monday, April 09, 2007 - 08:54 am:  Edit

Anyone been back to check it out recently? Was there opening week, nice owners, decent rooms and specialty rooms, but very few girls. Is it worth another look?

By Lennox on Monday, April 09, 2007 - 10:03 am:  Edit

I dropped in for a tour before going to 65 and wasn't really impressed. The girls were all very mediocre and some were scary looking. They have a variety of themed rooms and a pretty big facility but I don't think I'll go back. Reminds me of the Phoenix Club, promising idea, friendly owners but, in the end, unable to deliver. I think it must be very hard to recruit quality girls for new termas. The only new one that's succeeded is Cancun and that's because it has the same owners as 4x4.

Stopped in with Gibletpie and what a waste of time and money. Scary girls and high prices. 2 beers, 1 hifi, 1 tequila and 2 entradas was R175.00!!! LOL!! Stay away unless your curious.

By Gibletpie on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 10:50 am:  Edit

Agreed! Last time I let someone drag me there ;) They haven't got a hope in hell of lasting...

GP

By Azguy on Friday, July 20, 2007 - 12:25 am:  Edit

wow, you got out of there with only one hifi? are you sure it was Gibletpie that was with you?

By Gibletpie on Friday, July 20, 2007 - 04:55 am:  Edit

LOL!!!!!

It was two hi-fi's, but who's counting ;) Actually, they were really fuggin' weak, so they only count as one.

I more than made up for it at 4x4 later. ;)

Ken, if you make it to heaven (which is suspect), it is going to have a tough time topping your life here. I still plan on posting a small trip report. It is really only to post one pic in particular. Still looking at coming back in September. Do you know if the place I stayed last time will be available any time that month? By the way, what was the black samba dancers name at L? I am sure she is still heart broken I am not there. ha

What happened with this place? I just read on Hotside that it is now called San Marino since April. Has anyone tried this place out in the last year?

By Bwana_dik on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 09:03 am:  Edit

It changed management and name a few months ago after being closed for a while. The locals say the talent level still sucks at the place. It's a tier 2 termas, with a 50 reais entrada, making it pricier than the other similar places. The locals have urged their brothers to stop by, ask about the pricing, complain about how expensive it is, and split, all in hopes that the management will get the message.

By Catocony on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 04:01 pm:  Edit

Just go to 501, where it's R$15 entry but that includes three drinks.

By Bwana_dik on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 04:19 pm:  Edit

Cat means 502, located at Rua da Alfandega, 65.

By Catocony on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 05:14 pm:  Edit

Actually, 501 is the private, extra low-end terma under the dive terma

By Bwana_dik on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 08:20 pm:  Edit

Got it. I didn't think anything could be much lower than 502, but I guess 501 is 1 unit of whatever lower...
