I'm concerned I will feel out of place in Help and other clubs.
I have been reading for days now,threads old and new. All the pictures of discos and clubs seem to be of very young people. I am in shape, mid 50s, light drinker, don't smoke and well dressed. I consider myself a classy indivdual not an ugly american who disrespects other cultures, in fact I love to embrace them and show all due respect unless its undeserved. Should I stay out of these clubs.If so are there any clubs anyone reccomends for the more"seasoned" americans.

I am your age and feel perfectly comfortable in Helpee. You will not feel out of place there.

In fact, there often are lots of much older European guys sitting at Terraco Atlantico, just outside Help, surrounded by pretty garotas. Now -THAT's disgusting!

Also, clearly there are a lot of women in Help, who are a little older, like you describe, not just early 20's.

Just go and look for yourself, don't worry.

Although I have never been to Rio (but have visited several latin countries) it has been my impression from the reading here and elsewhere that age is not that big of a deal there.

Particularly with your self ascribed attributes I would think you would not have any problems at all scoring with any chicas.

There are quite a few of us in your age range, LL. Sem problema. The only think the girls will find of interest in your wallet is your reais. The age on your driver's license is irrelevant to most.

LatinaLover - As I remember Copa, it's an old neighborhood. Vast majority of the residents are 50+. Its an expensive neighborhood also, not alot of young Brazilians can afford it. Helpee is a strange place, working girls and tourists. I can't remember seeing any 20-30 something Brazilian males there. I'm in my 40s and I felt young everywhere I went.

Latinalover: There is absolutely no problem with age. It should be added even if one does not personally gravitate to Help (I don't largely because it is a late late night place, perhaps the only potential age-related impediment) the termas represent another slice of mongering life in Rio well worth exploring (and these too work just fine for one fitting your description).

HELP is not a Rio club, it is a whorehouse plain and simple. It is all about the reais received. Those "other clubs"?? -- you mean like the termas where those garotas take a solid pounding in the ass or worse pissed/shit on by brasilieros who want their money's worth?
You think these girls are lowering themselves by having sex with someone more than twice their age....that is the least of their worries. In fact, they probably embrace a guy knowing they will wear the guy out before they do, probably in less than 1/2 hour.

As for the normal clubs like Club Six, an older gringo with limited Portuguese speaking skills, forget about it. Yes, stay out of those clubs. You are not going to meet a woman who wants a gringo for the thrill of it. Brasilieras are more vain than Americans, so you are going down there to have sex with a pro. Guys a lot, lot older are doing the same thing. In fact, if you go to a Centro termas during a weekday afternoon you just might find yourself to be the youngest guy in the place. Enjoy yourself and remember to bring plenty of cash, leave the fancy tailored sports jacket at home. (Unless you plan on hanging out with Jaguar).

As far as normal clubs - go to Nuth in Barra on Monday night (after midnight) for their "mature nights". Age group 30+...average age in the 40's, into the 50's. Young ones mixed in looking for that older sugar daddy. A little Portuguese does help, but there are a few here and there that speak limited english.
