Did anyone else on the board hear about Bobby from BlameitonRio4travel, being arrested last week? Supposedly, one of his employees was grabbed by the police for selling weed and coke. Since the guy used the travel office's computers and phones to run his drug businees, the police arrested Bobby too.

Thumper,

I heard about his employee getting arrested, but I think Bobby's in the clear. As a matter of fact, I saw him at the beach with his son on Saturday, April 28.

I hope this is not true, but if so I hope someone in the expat community could let us know if Bobby needs help? I've noticed a general rise in anti-Americanism especially in Brazil in last couple of years. We Americans and Westerners in general need to be ready to help one another out cause we damn sure can't expect help from our governments nor expect fairness from the Brazilians.

I ran into Bobby on the beach on Wednesday and he seemed very relaxed, never mentioning any probs.

My sources say that Bobby was held for only one day, before he was released. He is still under investigation by the police, who are trying to determine if he had a role in the drug trade. My sources say, his two employees primarily run the office now and they havent seen Bobby there since he was locked up.

Bobby is pretty much out of the apartment rental tourist business. I bumped into him the other day and asked him about what's going on. He told me he is tired of the (diminishing) rental business and is now opening a full service Laundromat! As for the rumors, it's because a guy who used to work for him did get arrested for selling drugs. The police went to Bobby's shop to book the guy, hence the rumors. He seemed in a pretty bad mood and complaint about Rio not getting nearly as many touists as it used to get, because of the dollar exchange prices.

Someone should tell Bobby he is out of the business then. I just talked to him and he doesn't know it yet.

You still have Amerioca, Gringo Mgt, and John Thompson left on your hit list.

Brazilian police usually try to harass those people they have chances to earn bribes from. So a penniless employee of Bobby is not very interesting to them.

Now construing any remote and vague theory that a guy with money can be harrassed, that is where they see potential money.

Sad but true
