After staying at both the Medellin Mansion and Hotel VIP. I think I can give an honest yet objective evaluation to assist future travelers in there decision on which place is the best to stay at. I have several categories, so you can choose which are important to you and judge from there:

First Category: Accommodations: When considering this category I realize there are sub-categories and I will try to address them. Vip has new and very modern furniture, some of the rooms have plush modern fixtures as well as plasma screen TV’s. The Living room is much more condusive to congregating for mongers to share notes, plus there is a pool table to hang out and discuss your adventures. The mansion’s living room keeps getting smaller and smaller to arrange for more rooms. The mansion does have two nice rooms that open up to the pool area which are very nice but if you end up getting one of the other rooms, Vip blows them out of the water. ADVANTAGE: VIP.

Second Category: Safety: This is a tricky topic because safety can be defined in many ways. First, the VIP has a gate and a guard where the mansion does not. But the mansions staff is much more attentive than VIP (more on that later) Also the VIP is off a busier street where as the Mansion is off a cul de sac. So on the surface VIP may seem more safe but this is Colombia and I think what should be considered safe is keeping a low profile and I think the mansion does that just a bit better. ADVANTAGE: PUSH

Third Category: Staff: This is a no brainer. The Mansion has much better service from it’s staff. The mansion girls make it obvious they are there to help you with anything you need, whether it’s introductions to reservations, to changing money to just about anything you need they are excellent in making you feel at home and blow VIP out of the water. Plus Greg is usually there at the Mansion keeping things in order, while Albert makes rare appearances and the place runs to shit as a result. The mansion gives you a traveler’s guide when you arrive and can give you great advice. VIP’s Marcy doesn’t even know where to go and which nights are good. The Mansion girls are stars, while VIP has Marcy, who is cool to flirt with and walk around with her bit tits but she is essentially useless. She wakes up late, goes out drinking with the guys but does not put out and is really there just to pass the time. You get nothing by way of service. ADVANTAGE: MANSION

Fourth Category: Discretion: To many guys this is important, so it merits it’s own category. I like the way VIP’s website is like a hotel and the name does not indicate any mongering and Marcy answers the phone “Hotel Vip”. Whereas the Mansion’s website clearly shows it’s a monger mansion. However, as mentioned earlier, Marcy rarely answers the phone and is not too bright, so if discretion is a high priority, stay at a hotel.

Fifth Category: Management: OK pay attention now, because here is the most important category. Aussie Greg is a pleasant but firm guy. He has been criticized for being a bit strict, but I think he has his business and safety in mind. VIP is run buy a couple of Iranian Guys who really don’t micro manage. In fact, when I stayed there sometimes Breakfast was served, sometimes screw you go buy your own. One of the Brothers is “Ray the King of Persia.” This guy will surely run this place to the ground. Ray is a major Pot Head who is not stable. I mean that very seriously. He goes around telling people that he is Muslum and that he could have anyone killed. I also heard him make comments that they could send peoples info to their wife’s to fuck up their life. He is a very dangerous man and scares me. He also made numerous racial remarks against blacks and is simply out of control. Sad to say but this guy is the sole reason why you should not stay at VIP. All he has to do is piss of the wrong guy and forget about it. He is extremely obnoxious and does not stop with his constant badgering. Don’t say you weren’t warned. ADVANTAGE: MANSION BY FAR.

SUMMARY: Both places are good for a single traveler but if you want to choose see the above info and set your priorities.

Hi, I stayed at the VIP in July, and don't remember meeting anyone who gave me or anybody else a hard time. I also never had any problems with breakfast or anything else, and they'd always call a cab if I wanted one. Sometimes Albert wasn't around, but then, he isn't there to babysit us, I know I just bought a map at the gas station around the corner and got around fine. Certainly, I am not criticizing what you are saying, but I had no problems at all.

Rocksteady - I left VIP yesterday and agree with you on your comments. Ray should not be a problem anymore as he was taken to jail Sunday and the next morning I was told was deported back to Costa Rica. I had a good time in Medellin but it is not Rio. Never went to the Mansion so I can't comment. I was treated very nice by Kevin, Albert and Marcy but my suggestion to them is they should start focusing on running it like a business. Little things that do not cost money go a long way. My opinion is the VIP facility is very nice but needs better management. - Hemp

I never stayed at VIP so I have no opinion about that place. But I have stayed at the Mansion and the Castillo, IMHO, I had found Greg to be a bit gruff (but what Aussie isn't) He walked in one night drunk after a night of parting and started yelling waking everyone up, and berating the staff calling them all a bunch of lazy fucking peasants who don't know shit & how they had it made working for him. If he was my boss and he did that to me I would have popped him one. He has also posted personal information about me like my hometown on another board and has told outright lies about me. He's a great guy till you piss him off then watch out. I understand he does not own the Mansion anymore he sold it but they keep him around as a mascot now. Some day he is going to piss of the wrong person.

Now the staff at the Mansion is first rate, they will go out of the way to make your stay as pleseant as possible. The same with the Castillo and Robert the owner is great fun to party with.

I tried my best to be objective and let the reader decide what was best for them. As you see Hemp agreed with me about Ray. Albeit he is no longer an issue. I would agree that Greg can also be difficult as I mentioned in my report. I guess the sum of it is we all expect both places to be run like a business and they are not. I suppose that would be difficult to do if you are a monger trying to run a hotel like business. Everything I said was the truth, but only from my personal experiences. Others may have different experiences to share and that is what this board is all about. Sharing your experiences.

Sounds like you Medellin guys need to find some better places in general. From the Smirker episode a year and a half ago it sounds like the other owner/manager of The Mansion is a cool guy but this Greg asshole sounds like he needs a Colombian Necktie and fast.

I am not saying that Greg won't go out of his way to make sure you have fun, it's just if you get on his bad side he will go out of his way to screw you. When I was there except for that one incident he was great it wasn't till I got home and said something negetive that he came after me with a vengence. Of course being who I am I recipicated as best I could. Besides I rent an apartment evertime I go now it's cool having your own place & I like to get one high up with a balcony There is nothing like sitting on your balcony with your sweety smokin a good cuban. But for the newby the Mansion is still your best bet.

I just got back from my 2nd trip and 2nd stay at the Mansion, and I'm happy to report that it has gotten better. Greg certainly seems to have calmed down a lot, and is friendlier than he used to be. I think that a lot of the negative reporting on the Mansion and Greg is based on old information. Maybe he has less stress now that he is not the owner.

I havent been to either place but I would presume that you should normally not give much weight to a board member with 8 posts. This sounds like someone using a fake name with a business interest in Medellin. Just a guess but I am usually right in this area....still waiting for Masterbats Jakarta report..lol

I'm glad you tried out Medellin and yes it really is a totally different experience to Rio.

I loved the termas there and wish they had some in Medellin to match those of Rio's.

How did you find the city or the non-mongering side there?

I hopefully will be returning to Rio in the new year. I met you a few times with Doug and sandman some time back.

The mongering in Rio is probably the best I've ever had by far. Thailand comes close but again is a different experience.

I love Medellin for an all round place, the climate, the food, the guys that live there and the non-mongering fun is great too.

Honestly VIP and the Mansion, while nice, are basically newbie locations. You can do much better on your own.

A matter of fact, I have done much better on my own because I can attract local girls without having the stigma of staying at what essentially is a brothel.

When I stayed at the mansion, I liked it. Greg was cool with me, my room was cleaned everyday, and breakfast was great. But you really only need to stay there your first outing.

The problem I found is that VIP and the Mansion has spurred a bunch of guys moving to Medellin at least on a part time basis and it is starting to become more common that women have actually dated a gringo. So the mystique is starting to wane for us gringos....shit!

Oviedo and El Tesoro are fully fished. For a better pond, go to Las Molinas or Unicentro. Actually try a club in Bello if you really want fresh meat. Try staying in Envigado on your next trip. Nice neighborhood and by far easier to nab a hottie that has never went out with an American.

Best avoid the Mansion or VIP, not because they are bad places, but they are inflating the prices and frankly the quality of women is better at other places.

I agree completely with Sniper, in the Pablado Barrio, gringo's are no longer a novality. But, if you rent and apartment in Centro or the outlying areas you will be. I like Centro area better than Pablado because you can walk out of your Apartment and be right in the main shopping district, and its a blast to mingle with the locals. I really like the Calcedo Barrio, the main reason is because my novia lives there with her family and the locals have gotten used to me walking around with her, like when we walk down to the store, they treat me like familyeveryone says hi an stops to talk. Ive been invited to several of their houses for a meal or just to hang out which always consists of a meal. I have learned that when you visit a locals home its considered impolite for them not to offer you something to eat. If that happens do not be picky because for us we live to eat with all the variety, but for the Colombians they eat to live its considered nourishment to them, most do not have the choices that we take for granted. Therefore, its considered very wastfull not to eat everything on your plate and do not ever complain about what they serve you.

The difference in the cultures is very profound Colombians are what I consider a relationship culture. When we meet a friend and we are in a hurry to get somewhere we say something like "Hi im in a hurry but I'll call ya or see ya later' and off we go. But with colombians its considered rude to not to stop and hug and talk for 10 minutes about each others lives their family etc. That is the reason they are always late for everything, everyone they meet, that they know they have to stop. I used to get so frustrated wuth the girls always being late untill I made this discovery, now I understand. It will be very rewarding for you to get to know their culture and the people. You will not do that at the Mansion or the Vip or any other similar place. And thats the one thing that Greg never learned he thinks of Colombians as beneath him someone for him to use he never bothered to learn spanish or learned to appreciate the Colombian people. They are just a means to an end to him.

Below is a brief report on my recent trip to Medellin. First of all I have to tell you I lived the dream in Rio for almost 3 years so I am very spoiled as far as mongering goes as many of you know what the Garotas are like. Nothing can compare, except possibly SEA. I returned to the states in January 2007 and this was my first trip out of the country. I would have liked to go back to Rio but due to time constraints and wanting to see Colombia, Medellin won. In conclusion if you want a vacation with great weather, safety, beautiful city, beautiful women, go to Medellin. If you want the beach and “sex in your face” like the Garotas perform, go to Rio.

FLIGHT: Only a short 3 hour trip from Miami International. After arriving in Medellin you take a Taxi to the city which is about a 45 minute ride on winding roads. It is very safe as long as you get a good driver. I had a driver waiting for me thanks to Sandman.

SAFETY: Yes I was a little paranoid about the safety issues many of us have read about. I can tell you that I felt completely safe and secure in Medellin. I was told that the other larger cities like Cali, Bogota you have to be concerned, especially about ATM kidnappings where they drive you around for hours trying to get what they can from your bank account via ATM withdrawals. Not so in Medellin as far as I know. I am sure there are areas you have to be concerned about like any large cities but Medellin was great, clean and beautiful.

MEDELLIN: This is a beautiful city, very clean and modern in many areas. Very easy to get around via Taxi and they are extremely cheap. Suggestion, just make sure the driver knows where you are going as many did not on my trip. Always ask the driver if he knows so you don’t have confusion. I noticed many beautiful apartment buildings that were very modern. The shopping malls like Oviedo were beautiful and very modern with many fine stores. You can spend hours walking around and looking at the girls. Large supermarkets were extremely clean and well organized. You don’t see them in the states like they were there. I guess the bottom line is Medellin is a city I would like to live in for many non mongering reasons. Compared to Rio, Medellin is far superior.

CLUB VIP: Very nice bed and breakfast type hotel with about a dozen rooms and suites. I opted for Suite 6 on the ground floor with the large fish tank. This is a very nice room away from any noise but a little pricey for Medellin. My comments about the room are they need to address the little things: like the hot water was not all that abundant, minor things with the cabinets with no handles, etc. One thing is the maid was very good about getting your dirty clothes and having them clean for you that evening at no charge. They served breakfast in the morning, but no one offered, you had to ask. These are the little items I mentioned about the “little things”. Marcy, Kevin and Albert were very gracious and would help in any way they could. If you needed a Taxi they would always call. The bottom line is probably next time I go to Medellin I would not stay at VIP.

STRIP CLUBS: I visited two while I was in town: San Diego and Face Dos. I did not find these to be as plush as the ones in the states but they were adequate. Not like the states you can take the girl to a room for 45 minutes or so for about $150,000C ($75) or so. The quality of girls in San Diego were not as good as Face Dos but were adequate. Face Dos is probably the best and largest strip club that I am aware of although I am sure there are others. One thing about the girls in these clubs are they sit by themselves until you make eye contact and show you have interest then will join you.

CASAS: These are where I spend the majority of my mongering time. The best one was Loutron which is very large and has many rooms and various bars. When I was there (twice that week) they had about 15 girls working and would come in one at a time in their little white smocks with bikinis under them. They walk in, remove their white smock show you their body, say their name, then Permissio and leave. God I love it the way they said Permissio, very sweet. After you decide which one you want just tell the Receptionist and go to the room with the girl. I’ll cover the sex when I get to the girl section. I hit about 6 or 7 Casas while in town and by far Lutron was the best because of the girls and the facilities. After that they were all smaller and fewer girls.

COLOMBIAN GIRLS: I would have to say comparing the Colombian girls to Rio Garotas as far as natural beauty goes I would say the Colombian women have a very slight edge. It might be they don’t have the beach and sun like Rio to dry them out? As many know I prefer blonds and they were not abundant in Colombia but the brunettes were extremely beautiful. Now regarding Tits, I have never seen so many boob jobs in my life. Just walk thru the Malls and you can’t imagine it. Everywhere you went there were Tits and tight jeans. YES! Regarding sex with the Colombians it is not like the Garotas in Rio. The vast majority want to do covered bj, no DFK, no anal, no CIM. WHAT THE FUCK! So you guys who have never been there be warned. Now I am sure if you have a Colombian girlfriend, anything goes.

RIO vs. MEDELLIN: Here goes! While I lived the dream many guys have wished for almost 3 years in Rio there are pro’s and con’s of each. Rio definitely for the beach and Garotas, Medellin for the safety, modern city, food and beautiful women. There is no comparison as far as apartments go, Medellin wins hands down. Climate has to go to Medellin as it is not real hot in the day time or real cold in the evening. Regarding the girls there is no comparison as far as sexual experience, you can’t beat Rio, Medellin has a long way to go. If they had Termas in Medellin like Rio that would be heaven and I would never consider going back to Rio except to visit some of my friends I met while living down there.

THE BOTTOM LINE: If you want a trip with just round the clock sex and more sex, go to Rio. If you want beautiful women and so so sex or want to fall in love with one of these girls then Medellin is your place. If you want a beautiful place to live or retire then Medellin would win in my opinion. MY NEXT TRIP IS BACK TO RIO & THE TERMAS. Thanks - Hemp

Now, there are people who know me here who know about me and Gregs history and i have to agree with Scooby when he says that Greg is cool until you piss him off. In my case i gave a "Fair Assessment" on the mansion and i guess Greg felt betrayed by me because i was honest in my report. and after almost 2 years of him being a little wanker, i tried to be the bigger man and approach him and offer an olive branch. However he didnt want anything to do with it. He quoted "I never forget" I laughed and said well that would be your problem then. So fuck him, he is probably on borrowed time. He will piss the wrong guy off in Colombia and that will be it.

*Note: Anyone who has ever really done any research on the 2 places should know that The Mansion has always been labled the "whore" palace because it is better for Newbies. VIP is more laid back and is better for people with Medellin experience who want a different enviroment than that of The Mansion.

I definitely think the Mansion is more in your face about it, but to imply that VIP is different is just incorrect.

Take a normal girl to either place, you will be viewed as someone who frequents prepagos.

If you are a newbie, you could go to either place. But if you have a few trips under your belt, go get a normal apartment or stay at a hotel. You will be much better off.

Yes both places are mongering hotels....agreed. just noting that the Mansion is better for newbies. actually on my last 6 trips down there i either stayed at a buddy's place or got an apartment. BTW i stayed at a great apartment for the rate of only $50 a night and that was for the master bedroom. there are 2 other rooms that are moderate in size for $30. or you can rent out the entire apartment for around $175 (I think), cool if there are a group of 2-3 going at the same time. All the rooms have private baths
