Last trip, one of my friends bought me a guidebook to Lima's best restaurants. I met up with a different friend last night, and we set out to test one of them out.
Sadly, it was closed on Mondays. Grrr.
We headed to Avenue Conquistadores in San Isidro. The street is very upscale, and is chock full of good-looking restaurants. We picked Osaka sat random, and didn't even know what was on the menu until we entered.
It looks like your standard Sushi joint, with slightly upscale prices. But that's until you order. To say that the fish was fresh was an understatement -- the chef was cutting the head and tail off of a salmon as we entered.
We ordered six pieces of sushi, two different rolls, and two sodas. It was absolutely delicious.
The tab came to 120 soles (about $40). As I said, a little pricey, but I was happy to pay my half. I might return, but there are so many options, it is hard to commit to one place in particular. The only down side is that they charged 5 soles per person 'cubitero'. It's a cover charge, and many of the better places do it -- I just hate having to pay for the privilege of buying dinner.
