Wonder where the 80's went? Right here in Medellin. You will find the younger guys wearing their hair mullet style, with man bags and pink shirts. Yeah they take metrosexual to a whole new level here and look like bad pat benetar impersonators. Luckily that look is mostly for the teens under 21.
As far as what I recommend you bring is jeans
and nice tshirts for the daytime. And a few button down shirts as well. Locals dont wear shorts around or flip flops, only to excercise and the weather is very temperate. Around 75 degrees. Nightime is not very cold either.
Most you may need if you get cold easy is light sweatshirt, or sweater, I rarely wear more then a tshirt or longsleeve here. You probably dont need a bathing suit unless you stay at a place with a pool, girls do like to swim here.

Girls dress pretty stylish, even if they are poor they put themselves together quite well
and they love to shop. Tennis shoes are around 3 times as expensive here as in the states and Levis and other imported clothes are 2 to 3 times more as well so dont plan on buying a whole new wardrobe here. If you are just planning on paying for play exclusively it probably in the end does not matter how stylish you are. If you happen to hang out with me while you are down here and we go looking for girls well that is a whole new story. My twin brother came down to visit last year and I remember vividly what he was wearing the first day we went looking for girls. He had flip flops on, ugly shorts and a tshirt that showed off his belly. NO Wayyyyyy! I made him buy all new clothes and a watch on that trip. Long story short he ended up dating best friend of my girlfriend and various other girls he met that trip. One more tip, if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. lots of construction in Medellin right now and the motorcycles are loud!

hey madman, so when are we gonna see some photo's?
would you say medellin is as safe as rio?

Madman
Then packing for Medellin do I need any smart or smart casual clothes? Normally I back dockers and jeans a few Thai street market T shirts and golf shirts (no pink ones, those are trade registered) and walking shoes and boots that second as hiking ware. Your thoughts?

Isawal I went out and got all new attire for this Latin America trip, No Urban gear just high end Levi Jeans and button up shirts....

M Madman - Do I need to bring a suit for that kingpin/mobster / mafia look?

By Lamuerte on Monday, February 18, 2008 - 04:30 pm:  Edit

Nice jeans, dress pants and button-up shirts are how I dress in general, and will have you fitting right in in MDE. Also, wear comfortable but nice shoes...for whatever reason, the quality, style and cleanliness of one's shoes is important to most Colombians.

Another idea is to pack clothes for a day or two, and then go shopping down there. You can get some very good things there at decent costs, and having clothes purchased in Colombia will help to dress appropriately for Colombia.

Arturo Calle is a great store for guys on the other side of 30 (like me!), with high quality stuff often at much prices better than in the USA or Europe. There is one located at pretty much every shopping mall in the whole country.

Lamuerte - thanks 4 the shoe tip I will step my game up.

As for Arturo Calle ....not only am i on the other side of 30 but also the other side of 200lb and finding clothes has been ruff mostly in Asia ....

I don't think I could recognize you without the "bling". On the bright side traveling without all those chains will make your luggage a lot lighter! LOL.

BTW I know a very cheap shop in Lima that has shirts in our 'other side of 200lb 'sizes.

What about Ralph Lauren? I like to wear my levis, good anywhere, and a nice Polo shirt, be it buttondown or a knit, always in style, timeless, and more importantly ageless!

CFK what about the pink shirt?

By Copperfieldkid on Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 05:36 pm:  Edit

Some guys can wear it, some can't, I use to. I'm glad I don't now as I might be mistaken for Jag, which could result in untold problems........

Maybe its time to resurrect the old club T shirt.

By Copperfieldkid on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 07:15 pm:  Edit

Isawal,

I think that would be a great idea. I think if we could come up with an extra cool logo everyone would want one.
The man on the horse (Lauren)- taken
Tommey Hillfiger-not avail(nor appropriate)
Alligator (Lacrosse)- infringement problems/in use
Upside down dead alligator-resulted in law suit by Lacrosse, good idea, bad outcome
Ideas anyone?????????????

Out of respect for Jag and Princess, I suggest the logo be a dead rabbit.

I was thinking our logo should be a dead donkey wearing a sambrero and a Pattaya T Shirt, that should cover all our bases. What do you think?

By Copperfieldkid on Monday, February 25, 2008 - 07:15 am:  Edit

Only if he's laying on his back with an erection!

By Isawal on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 12:09 am:  Edit

OK now we have the logo, we need a motto any ideas?

By Copperfieldkid on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 07:18 am:  Edit

Isawal,

I'll field this question, it's easy, we'll use the old addage for our motto; 4 F's
Find em
Feel em
Fuck em
Forget em

We need to order the shirts!

How about the 4 V's

V ip it in
V ip it out
V ipe it off
V amoose

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 01:43 pm:  Edit

No no no!!!! The motto is "Vidi, Vici, Veni"

Latin for "I saw, I conquered, I came."

By Copperfieldkid on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 03:04 pm:  Edit

Well, since V represents the sign for a crotch, and [ the above mentioned mottos explained] and an H overlayed on the V would be representative of a male in action (two legs lower n and two arms upper u, body being the middle -)If you draw it on paper it will make sense for Hemp and anyone else confused.
In summation; dead donkey laying on it's back with an erection, and a V overlayed with an H above the erection at the appropriate spot, as if it were being supported by it.
NOw all we need is to choose a color. PINK is NOT an option!

By Copperfieldkid on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 03:06 pm:  Edit

H =========== Hombre [for anyone that may be confused]

By Nastyworld on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 06:44 pm:  Edit

Hemp

As we all know, sometimes there can be an infinity between the Vip it in and the Vamoose.

Lots of love,

At first I thought our motto should be, first served, first cum but I kind of like "Vidi, Vici, Veni" it’s just classy. As for the shirt colors obviously Pink for those who travel to Rio, Orange for those who travel to Thailand, No shirt for the Bare Back Club, just a badge which they can pin directly onto there chest. And military camouflage for the lurkers, any other ideas?

By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 12:35 pm:  Edit

I like the elements of the design, but I'm not a huge fan of jackasses. The resemblance with our current President is too strong.

I checked in on having some wristbands made (the silicone ones like those used by the Lance Armtrong "Livestrong" campaign). We could put "Vidi, Vici, Veni! CH" on it and they would cost a couple bucks a piece. Reasonably classy and discrete. Only the guys in the Club would get it.

I've always wanted to do a "Termas Tour" t-shirt for Rio. The front would have a graphic of the Statue of Christ (Cristo Redentor) wearing a termas robe and a termas bracelet/locker key. The back would have a listing of the major termas. I lack the art skills to do the graphic.

you are a true genius BWD

By Wnose on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 08:52 pm:  Edit

Bwana, I really like the idea of the wristband. Nobody would know what the hell it means, except us.

By Isawal on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 11:47 pm:  Edit

Bwana, I LIKE IT! I spoke to a graphic designer this morning about your shirt and the club shirt, she owes me a favour so it will not cost anything for the design once she has done it , a few weeks at the most I will post the results for the committee to make its suggestions, BTW You are on the committee as is are Nastyworld, for his undisputed sense of style and CFK, any other nominations?

I like the idea for a wristband, simple and discrete but it has to have attached to it a little round dist with a number hanging from it other wise there are some members of CH that will find it just too confusing!

Jeans or cargo pants, Tennis Shoes, & T shirts is all you will need for most of your time in Medellin

By Sobe9ball on Monday, March 03, 2008 - 03:59 pm:  Edit

Yeah, if you dont want to make a lasting impression! lol. There is no doubt that granted, a girl will live you overall for your game and great personality. That being said there is NO DOUBT, that these girls are very superficial and will greatly appreciate a sharp dressed man. Yes im sorry they are really caught up in labels..
