I like spending time at the beach. I figure for the trip I am planning that I will stay in Copa and spend some beach time during the day. I have heard that you can stop at one of two restaurants on the way home at about 2 or 3 in the afternoon and meet a "Help" level girl for an afternoon session. I like this idea.

The two restaurants that I have heard mentioned are: (copied from ymmv and Rio Pappa Noel)


As far a beach, aross from the Rio Othon Palace is a place where afternoon delights hang out and you really dont need a guide, but just a smile at the ANY garota will do the trick and they will be all over you. At the other end of Copa, across from Mabs Restaurante is another hangout for beach girls....same program, just smile.

When I lived in Rio, there were girls all up and down Ave Atlantica, day and night. It could get a little dangerous after it got dark, tho...

The two restaurants are MEIA PETECA, next door to the Rio Othon Hotel (center of Copa); and MABS at Ave Atlantica and Princess Isabella across from the Meridian.
From 10am till 4 in the afternoon there are a lot of Help and Termas girls on the beach directly across from these two restaurants. They start breezing into both restaurants en masse after 4.
But it's true that during the season there are girls all over Atlantica.

By season I would guess that you mean from December thru March. I am going the week before Thanksgiving. I figure that should be pretty good beach weather. From what I read Rio is similar to Miami except reversed weather wise. November would also put me just ahead of the main tourist crowd. If I like Rio (good chance huh), I'm already thinking about returning in April.

You picked a good time to go. The weather should be really good (not too hot) and there will be alot of girls in town ! They really start comming into town around the end of October, there are less girls in the winter (June thru August) but you can always find some really nice ones anytime of year. The prices should still be low as the high season does not start till Decemeber (the cost really goes up just before Carnival in Febuary). Remember always pay in Brasilian Reals not dollars ! The girls will always tell you 100,150 or 200 Dollars just to see if you will go for it. Just laugh and tell them Reals. In my opinion there is no reason to pay more than 150 Reals for all night for any girl in HELP and for an afternoon beach pick up should cost you between 50 and no more than 100 Reals.

i have read that the guys who rent umbrellas, ect, are the ones to ask re: the beach girls. i do not speak a lick of port, and am wondering if these guys are to be trusted. it is always nice to hear the inside scoop on which girls are cool, and which are NOT.

No need to use a umbrella or beach chair guy, they will only add a surcharge to the chica's price. Trust me, they won't negotiate for you out of the goodness of their hearts. If the girl doesn't understand english, she will probably have a friend who does, just remember the prices.
Beach or afternoon tryst -50 to 100Reals NOT DOLLARS!! All night from Help, no more than 200Reals for a star. For a average girl the price should be 150Reals. If she says "no" just smile and walk away, there are PLENTY more who will say "yes".

Question: Girls longevity?

Still trying to learn where to post. hope I get this right.

My question is does anyone know how long a girl stays in the business in Brazil? I am sure there are some takes on this. Just looking for thoughts. I am planning a trip in the fall (November/December) and am curious what a 28-32 year old would be like (I know, I know). And where I might find one (even in a non-working club). I wonder if they still have that same playful charm after they are older.

If you saw one two years ago, then 18 months ago, then she is gone, is the bet that she got married or moved?

Is the average age of 20-21 mean that girls go away when they are 25 due to competition from younger girls?

I knew of one who started when she was 16 and went until she was 23. I have not seen her anywhere. She was beginning to look older.

some girl goes on and have family, some move around to work Europe particular, so one girl you met there may be no longer there in 6 months when you come back
On the bright side, you can always ask for her cell number to cement the friendship..but I think Brazilian girls age very quick in general...so my philosophy is to move on...

There are some girls who work for years and others who can only handle this business for a couple of days. Some move on with their lives in other countries or they marry a local. One thing that is strange, is that EVERY girl I know who has married a tourist and moved to his country, eventually will return to Help. No matter if he is from USA or from Europe they ALL will return to Help. Some come back to work for good and others just to work for a couple of days while they tell their husband that they are in Brasil to visit their families. Over 5 years in Rio, I have never met one girl who stayed true to her husband while they were in Brasil. Maybe one day I will write up a report on why the relationships just don't work out.

I'm in full agreement. Ricardo, the owner of www.platynum.com.ar has some quotes, and one of them is: "Once an escort, always an escort." These girls find it very difficult to leave the business, and even if they do leave for a while, they always return, as the money is too good. When they get too old for the business, they start their own.

Many ask here if a chica that we might meet in another country would stay true to us if we married them. The general concenus is no.

Maybe better question would be can a monger stay true to a wife after he gets married.

There have been only two women in my life who have caused me to stop the chase. One was a French girl who told me that she didn't care if I had other lovers, she just didn't want to know about them. With this kind of freedom granted to me, I did not want any others.

The other is a Brasiliera who asked me to marry her three times. We are still friends, but everytime I came to town, she was a different woman for me, to keep things interesting. I asked her if we had got married, could she have been absolutely faithful to me. She said that she thought so.

These girls are both non-pros, and if they were faithful, then I think I could have been as well.

Also might try in front of Cesars in Ipanema, not the quantity of the "hooker beach" Larrydavid posts, but definitely nice quality. To a lesser extent there are pros in front of Meridian in Leme as well.
If this is your first trip be aware you will be swarmed by the beach boys-pimps who want to rent you a chair and introduce you to girls. Remember most are not your friend, they will try to cheat you. I would not use them unless you get to know them or if a local monger introduces you. I would get a chair from a beach kiosk and get my drinks there too. The beach boys charge more in price and will fabricate quantity. The one advantage is they can let you know who is "programma" (working) and introduce you if your portugese is not good or if you are shy. But the fact is that if the girl is on these beaches it's a pretty safe bet she is programma, and you can get by with a "ola, tu da bem" and a english-portugese phrasebook and dictionary. When you get to "quanto" (how much) have her write the number in the sand so there is no misunderstanding.
