I found this article in one of my business rags.....I remember someone posted about Jet Blue receiving clearacne to fly within Brasil, but this is the first I have seen stating Jet Blue will be flying to Columbia.......
Now the $64K question is: WHY COLUMBIA????

I think that after Brazil and Mexico, Colombia has the third largest growing economy in Latin America.

Colombia's economy has been on fire. Over the last 3 or 4 years it may have grown much faster than Mexico or Brazil. It is still a distant third overall, however.
Colombia in general is going to have to pull her head out of her ass to attract tourists and ex-patriots. But there is some indication that she is at least considering some beneficial changes. There is a very long way to go.

Jetblue won't be starting an airline in Brasil, it's their founder or ex-CEO who has dual US/Brasil citizenship and is with a group that wants to start another discount airline in Brasil.
I guess Brasil has traditional had two major airlines - TAM and Varig - and some small ones. Gol basically ate up Varig and the old small ones, like VASP. So I guess they can use another airline down there.
