Jewel Woods is a hack. He is a failed academic who is not a sociologist (he has an MA in Sociology and an MSW in social work, but did not complete a doctorate...which is the degree that allows one to claim standing as a sociologist).

His book is a piece of shit and has received zero attention from scholars and very little attention from the media. The response of the talk show bookers has been "Ho hum, another guy talking about black men and whores. Yawn."

He's trying hard to pimp his book, but no one is buying. It's not selling for shit (it comes out next week, but advance orders are almost non-existent). He had to have it co-authored with a female journalist who specializes in helping people write books who can't write for shit.

I would not lose any sleep over this. If you're a brother you might not want to give your mother, wife or girlfriend a copy. And if you don't, it's highly unlikely she'll ever see it.

Well, it is a bit strange this should be someone's first post. Could it be an attempt to drum up book business? Who knows.

But that being said, I was concerned my imaginary gringa girlfriend, who unless I go clinically insane shall forever remain imaginary, might from this book figure out why I am in Brazil so often; then I noticed it is about the behavior of African-American men.

I think I am in the clear, at least until the next book comes out.

Good thing NONE of us participates in "sex tourism" whatever that is . I travel for the experiences and the scenery . I just happen to meet a lot of girls while I'm there.

Guys, I think it's a serious issue. Black guys are all so concerned about being spotted as sex tourists, that's why they never yell at each other at the airport in the US and on the plane about the whores they're going to get. They always dress conservatively, act polite in termas, clubs and on the street and in hotels and restaurants and everything. Just a bunch of educated world explorers going to meet people of a new culture.

I mean, there are a million reasons why gangs of black guys would have for going together to a 3rd world country, right?
