A primer on Cartagena?

I would like to go to Cartagena, Columbia.

Unfortunately, the one guide by sandman on this site is nearly 6 years old and the information may have changed. I read Blazers report and thats the kind of trip I desire, i.e. cheap beachfront place and pros on the beach.

Lets use this discussion to build a basic primer on Cartagena, Columbia. Where do I go for the women? At what price? What about safety? The nightlife?

Let me know everyone what your thoughts and ideas are of this place. I'd like to build a primer that I can use to go there in the nearrrr future.

Personally speaking, out of all the photos displayed on this site, the Columbians seem to be the most attractive. I guess thats just a subjective opinion and everyone has their own taste...but you have to admit that if you were to choose women that would be on a centerfold from this site then they would probably be it.

Lets hear it hombres. I wanna knoooowwww...

I guess you could start by spelling Colombia correctly.

There are no safety issues in the tourist zone. Just use your big head sometimes.

A first-timer would do good to just go to the LDV and Tony 1 on the beach in front of the Hotel Dann(across the street from LDV).

At LDV they want 150K or more for short-time. You may be able to do a little better on price in the courtyard outside of LDV or on the street nearby. Don't bother with the LDV or surrounding area until 11:00 pm or midnight. Nothing happens before that time.

Don't buy or rent anything from Tony. Just ask him about the girls. And don't tip him anything for the girls, either. The girls tip him out of their end. Look at 80K and up for short-time.

Most taxi drivers in Laguito, where LDV is located, can hook you up. Negotiate their tip up front. 10K would be a good tip.

Any apartamento lizard on the street can hook you up as well. Don't give them any more than 10K. An apartamento lizard is a guy who hangs around the street all day and hollers "apartamento" at cars driving by. They hope to bring people to an apartment rental agent and get a tip.

Better yet, just hang around Julia's, or Riquissimo, or the Israeli Restaurant and let them find you.

Contact Juan Ventura at http://www.zepelion.com/apartamentos/english.htm for a place to stay.

Hehe. Sorry about the mispelling. Sometimes I type quick and dont proofread. Sure wish they would let us edit these messages so I can go back to change it;)

What does LDV stand for? Is it a night club?

How much for all-night long or long time?

Where are those restaurants you talk about in relation to the Hotel Dann and when is a good time to go to them?

Im thinking a routine of Tony1 in the daytime and then hit one of those places at night.

What about tourist type things that I may want to go to?

Thank you for your help once again.

I was there in 10/2005. I spent 8 nights there and had a chica named Sandra stay over everynight for 150,000.

LDV = La Dolce Vita is owned and named by Italians. It is a "disco" where all the girls except bartenders are hookers.

I never do long-time.

Everything I mentioned is in Laguito. Laguito is a 3-block-long "thumb" sticking out into the ocean. The best time to go to the restaurants is when you are hungry.

The Old City is enough to keep you busy for several days. Just outside the Old City is Castillo de San Felipe. This fortress guarded land access to the walled part of the city. Pay extra for the English-speaking guide if your Spanish is not fluent.

There are day or overnight boat trips to the Rosario Islands or day boat trips to Playa Blanca.

Boca Chica on the other end of Isla Tierra Bomba is the fort that guarded the entrance to the Bay of Cartagena.

Club de Pesca is a restaurant built inside a fort at the northern end of Manga Island.
