One of my friends recently stayed at the Atlantis located at end of Copa and near Ipanema. It is located on a side street but he paid $40 a night. Guest friendly.

It seems that the further away you are from the action the lower the price for a Hotel. I wonder just how far this is from the entrance to the FAVELA on Rua Sa Ferreira? I would not stay near the Favela.

Wrong hotel. Rua Siqueira Campos is not at the end of Copacabana near Ipanema.

Technically, it is in Arpoador, just a 5 minute walk from Ipanema Inn. Stayed for a whole month last year in November and the rate was US$40. Found the staff really friendly, the view from the deck was great, especially after a dip in the pool at night. The free breakfast is also tops. I would highly recommend it. BTW, they do not charge extra for your guest.
