It's the effort that counts, you're doing good! Just remember it's Porto Alegre ("Alegre de Porto" is like writing "York of New"). You sure you didnt use a bit of babelfish? Can't trust those translation programs!

Quanto tempo voce e morado em Porto Alegre. Voce tem certeza que es um bem lugar para morar. Queria falar meu filha que mora aqui para ter excuso de visitar os.
(Well at least I gave it a try)

Amous:
I understood about 1/2 of what you said, but good try.
Let's see - I live in POA about 8 years, off and on, throughout my life, plus yearly visits. I live in the States now.
Sure, it's a great place to live. A good mix of small town/big city, and closeby to beaches, mountains, ranches, river, lake, just about anything you'd like to do. It's consitently rated highest of all the large Brazilian cities for livability.
Didn't understand your last sentence, shat the question?
Abraco,
BS
By Amous on Wednesday, December 25, 2002 - 03:34 pm: Edit |
Badseed:
The last sentence was not a question, it was meant to be, "I want to talk my daughter into living there so that I could use visiting them as an excuse to go down there."
By Badseed on Thursday, December 26, 2002 - 05:29 am: Edit |
Ahnnnnn....queria convencer (convince) minha filha de ir morar la, para eu ter uma desculpa (excuse) para visitar-la.
And I'm getting ever more original with my own typos: "shat the question?" was supposed to be WHAT'S the question, sounds better with the typoe though.....
So how are you going to monger while visiting your daughter? ;-)

I went there yesterday expecting a festa and got instead to see cow shows, 4 to 5 range. Only 1 soft 7 and she looked bored so i skipped. One of my friends highly recommended this place so maybe my luck

End of the month festas are the big ones; they have a specific theme, better bands, and cost more, but the turnout is terrific. 1st Thur. of the month is always the weakest. Still, I've never been in the place when there wasn't at least 10 hotties. Sounds like a really off day.

Arrived here at 7:30pm. Doorman said cover was 80 & said closing time is 9pm. Saw several garotas w/ clients in the outdoor patio, none looked good. Went to La Barca instead.

This is a place where you show up at 4:00. It's a full-blown festa from 4-8 and gets quiet quickly after that. Eight o'clock is when you take your selection out to dinner, then take her home for an all-nighter...if she's not one of the many who is working at a casa that night.

I visited Sauna Karandache on Tuesday and was very pleased with the experience. The entry fee is 40R and room charge is 25R. The upstairs boite was open and there were close to 40 garotas available by 6 PM. A live band provided music starting at 5 PM.
The garota level of quality was quite high. There were a number in my doable range. I settled on a local student who passed my interview process with flying colors. BBBJ are always an issue in southern Brazil and she had no problems providing one. I offered 100R, but settled on 150R for an hour in an onsite room. This is inline with what the local boards indicate is a fair price. I was amazed at how lively the place was for a Tuesday.

Thanks for the update. The upstairs club is pretty nice. Glad you found a good selection.

I can tell you that the festinha at Karen Dáche is a joke. The huge, fat English speaking guy at the front is a rude jerk. After asking how it work's there he's pretty much in my face like he's gonna punch me asking "Are you in or are you out" It´s pretty much an Adelita~s with a live band. More that 50% of the girls are "house pigs".
I say that with ALL due respect as they are not all that aggressive and all in all have great attitudes.
The only saving grace was the Internacional game was on tv.
They don't even have the decency to call you a cab, and it's in a particularly NASTY part of the city.

Sorry you had a bad experience. When I went, the customer service was the best I've ever had in Brazil. As an American I was a minor celebrity and got extra good attention, a personal tour my first time, ringside seats, etc.
Yeah, there are stunners there but a sizable fraction of less than acceptable girls, too. Always had a lot of fun though.
Yes, the cab thing was an issue sometimes. Best to have a number and your own phone. It is on the edge of the bad part of town and isn't the safest to walk around in on your own. I never had a problem the few times I did it, but I saw a few bruised girls who told me they'd been mugged in the area (there is a lot of street walking nearby).
By Bwana_dik on Monday, March 22, 2010 - 11:19 am: Edit |
They guy at the desk always called a cab for me, but I was there on a regular basis.
I also had amazing service, from the guy at reception who always remembered my name, to the locker room guy who also knew my name and sandal size and was always helpful with every small request, to the folks in the sauna and the boite.
The locals were incredibly welcoming. I sat with a group of POA businessmen who knew how to party, and they were great at introducing me to everyone and giving me tips on the girls.
The surrounding neighborhood is a bit iffy, and it's best not to walk there after dark, but I walked to the place in the afternoon a few times with no problems.
