I just returned from a 5 day trip to Fortaleza.
I stayed in an apartment for which the going rate was R$70 a night, which worked out to a very reasonable $30USD with the current favorable exchange rate. No problems bringing back guests. Not exactly the Ritz, but basic and overall acceptable.
I pretty much focused on Cafe Del Mar for my nightly hunts and was very pleased with the action there. However, just be aware it does not get going until after midnight. Lots of hotties and spinners. The going price is R$100 for all night. Cheaper prices, R$80 can be found but I was very pleased with being quoted R$100 right up front and decided not to haggle further.
The one thing I learned very quickly, however, are the crazy drink prices at Cafe Del Mar. The entrance fee is only R$15, but beers are R$9.00. After drinking "a few beers" the first night, plus buying drinks for the girl I ended taking home with me, my bill ended up being R$150.00. So be careful and watch how many drinks you are buying. The girl later told me a story about a guy that was buying drinks quite liberally for his friends and various girls and ended up with a drink bill of R$1000. Do not feel bad if the girl buys her own drinks - she pays half the price of the guys. I was also told across the street at a place called Europa (I think), beers are only R$1.00 for the girls (If they buy). But the bar watches the girls closely, so forget them buying drinks for you.
During the weekend, I found a good spot to meet girls late afternoon/early evening to be a beach called Praia de Futuro. I went to 'Croco Beach' which had live music. Unfortunately they stopped playing music around 8:00pm, by which time most everyone started to leave. Picked up one girl from there towards the end of the trip which stayed with me for two nights. Again, the rate was R$100 which we did not discuss in advance. Great session. For two full days - sessions in the evening and her wanting more in the morning - only spent R$200. She also did not try to suck me dry with exessive drink and food requests, which made me very happy. The first night I met her she was with her two sisters and took me to a place to eat and drink. I got a little worried after they ordered 3 big plates of shrimp, a couple of beers, and a couple of soft drinks. The bill came out to be a whopping R$22.00. Not sure how with the shrimp, but I certainly did not complain.
On Monday the place to be is "Pirata". It has live Forro music and is a fun place to hangout. The girl I met at Croco Beach told me that sometimes, however, when it gets very full they get picky letting in people - especially girls that look like they are working. She changed into rather conservative clothes as she was worried about not being able to enter.
Action can also be found along Meireles. Overall, it is very easy to stumble onto girls. Regular girls do not seem to exist along the tourist beach areas, so almost any girl flirting and smiling at you is mostly likely working. 70% of the tourists seem to be Italian.
While the action for working girls is good, I was, however, disappointed with the city itself. I think it is a little boring for extended stays and most of the nicer beaches are far away from the city itself.

I have been to Fortaleza but was unable to monger much. Can you post a few photos of the girls so we can get a sample of the talent? I remember there being a lot of Italianos as well.
Thanks,

hey im going to Fortaleza next week any good ideas for apartments
By Lovingmarvin on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 09:32 am: Edit
Sorry, as a rule I generally never take photos. They have the potential to get me in trouble when I return home (i.e. if I forget to delete, move them to another location, or somehow mess-up along the way).
There were tons of beautiful girls in Cafe Del Mar, on all the days I went there. Did you check out Cafe Del Mar? It is hard to believe there is nothing in there you wouldn't like. The only thing I did observe, that girls are mostly brunettes. I did not see many blonds. Also, they tend to be skinnier then Rio - so if you like a big ass you will most likely be dissappointed.
Regarding the apartment I stayed in - I booked it through http://www.flatshop.com.br. I stayed at their New Point apartment.
I found them via a google search for apartment rentals - they were the cheapest ones I could find online. Apartments ranged from R$70 - R$90, while some other agencies were quoting in Euro's - upwards to 150 Euros which of course is crazy. The apartment was very basic - but I only spent nights sleeping and fucking there.... throughout the day and evening I was out somewhere, so I did not look for luxury but rather a bargain place to rest a head (or two).

Thanks for the additional info. Could you give a break down on percentage of caucasian, black, amazon, etc.?
Thanks,

Forgive my ignorance but...where is Fortaleza relative to Sao Paolo or Brasilia?
And...would you say that the quality of the honeys there is comparable to SP or Rio? And enough of them to go around?

LM,
I'm glad to hear Del Mar is once again a hoppin' place for meeting garotas. Are Africas or Desigual still open?

Used to be cheap, direct flights to Fortaleza from Spain and Italy, at least 6 years ago when I was last there. I tried to find these flights recently at online ticket places but couldn't.
If you speak decent enough Portuguese there is a big plaza with cafes and live music just a few blocks from Africa where you can try your luck finding a non-pro.
Also, be careful in that area, I got shaken down by a group of lads one night; got off easy but things could have been much uglier.
I met a girl on a local bus there and we 'dated' a few times. She worked in a shop and I know they don't get paid well, so it was no surprise that before I left she told me about some medical problems her kid was having etc and I made a donation. A good time was had by all.
Like most of NE Brazil the people are generally cool but watch out for the bad guys.

CB - The majority of girls in Cafe Del Mar were morena clara, i.e. brunette but white complexion, 2nd were mulatas, but I found minimal black girls. Very few blonds. Many spinner types. I would say it is spinner heaven!
I think service wise they were right behind Carioca's (Girls from Rio). I have always found girls from the South and Sao Paulo to be worst (on average, with a few exceptions here and there)from a service provider perspective - from a look perspective, there are some knockouts. In Fortaleza I was pleased, more a girlfriend experience like I am used to in Rio. less kissing, however. Price wise it seems hard to beat Fortaleza.
Concarne - Fortaleza is way north of Sao Paulo and Brasilia. Brasilia was my connection point for my flight from Rio (I flew Oceanair). Your second question, are there enough to go around - Yes, and many more..... I would say the ratio in Cafe Del Mar of girls to guys was very favorable. There are working girls up and down the beach.... lots and lots of action!

Thanks for the info. This update has been long overdue.
Do you know of any casa massagems or termas in Forto?

Thanks for sharing LM, how much was the flight from Rio or Sao Paulo? Did your apartment offer internet access? Weather was sunny, hot?

Ah Fortaleza, ten year's ago, I use to pick up garotas from Africa's for 20-30R.

WOW.. "mostly morena clara spinners".. Sounds like a Latinalover's disneyland! "very few blondes"... perfect to keep out CFK and little Hempie from fucking things up.
Note to self, get to Fortaleza! Hey AZguy, sounds like our type of place, lets go.

My flight from Rio was free, as I had points on Oceanair. But you will find flights to Fortaleza from either Rio or Sao Paulo to be expensive. I think the average ticket is about R$1000. I would suggest checking the major domestic airlines - Oceanair, Gol, TAM, and Varig.
The apartment I stayed in did not have Internet access - it was very basic. But for R$70 it was a good deal.
I ended up finding a free WIFI hotspot in one of the nearby hotels. It is close to the Holiday Inn. Just enter into the street by the holiday in - approaching from the beach - and it is the second hotel to right. I just camped out inside the lobby. Good signal and speed. Used Skype there without a problem.
From now on, however, Internet access will not be a problem anymore while traveling. Picked up the 3G OI service, with 1mb.
Weather? Whew, it was hot and sunny when I was there!
Didn't have time to explore any of casa massagems or termas (if there are any, not sure). Stayed busy enough with the girls I found at Cafe Del Mar and at Praia Futuro and Croco Beach. With one exception, they all ended up being all nighters and stayed the entire next day as well.

American is introducing service to Forteleza out of Miami with a double miles promo. I don't think it's the same miserable routing as TAM out of Miami, where the plane bounces around Manaus, Forteleza and Recife in one order or another.
By Mitchc on Monday, December 22, 2008 - 09:51 am: Edit
No, no. Only Delta is flying to FOR (after stop in Recife). American recently started Recife/Salvador and Belo Horizonte but not FOR. I do expect them to apply for FOR this year though. I also expect TAM to start MIA-FOR this year, hopefully. Also, I think TAM got rid of that roundabout routing from MIA to FOR. They are now flying 767's MIA-MAO (the same plane that flies the new GIG-MIA).

Lovingmarvin, how is the overall vibe of beach/town? Do you always have to have your guard up like Copacabana or is it more mellow like Ipanema? Are there a lot of street weasels outside of Cafe Del Mar like there are outside of Help? 75 reais a night lodging and 80-100 for a girl is ridiculously good. Whats the downside if any?
By Lovingmarvin on Monday, December 22, 2008 - 10:29 am: Edit
You might be better off flying direct from the US to FOR, as the prices for travel to FOR within Brazil are crazy! I just checked on Oceanair.com.br and each way is R$505 (RT R$1050) leaving Rio towards the end of January. Prices on voegol.com.br ranged from R$418 (only on the outbound part), but the majority of tickets where in the R$610 range and even higher - this puts you at about an average R$1300 ticket.
I also tried http://www.submarinoviagens.com.br - there I was able to find RT fares starting at R$938.00.
One word of advice - I now have a Brazilian credit card, but before only AMEX worked on the Gol website. It would not accept US issued VC or MC. I believe AMEX also works on the other sites. Have not tried it on Submarino, but it is worth a try.
The frequent flyer ticket on Oceanair was only 20K round trip, the same as it would have been for a Rio - SP trip. Compartively, however, the Rio - SP is about R$200 versus the R$1000 to FOR. Good usage of miles!

Thanks Mitch, I got Salvador and Forteleza mixed in my head. Lots of new service to Northern Brasil in general, on a bunch of airlines.

Dogface - Fortaleza has a reputation of being a little dangerous, but I never felt threatened or in danger anywhere. Street weasels exist everwhere, but it really wasn't so bad. In the area of Cafe Del Mar there a few other bars - nowhere did I really feel any hassle. Like I mentioned in my original e-mail, just be careful with drinks. Almost all the places the working girls frequent (many are close to Cafe Del Mar) have high drink prices. That is about the only downside. Especially watch the drinks you buy for the girls. The hassle certainly does not come anywhere close to the level at 'Help' in Rio
The overall vibe of the city is laid back. In the daytime there really is little to do, unless you decide to plan a trip to one of the beaches outside the immediate city. For that reason it is good if you find a great girl from the night before to hang with you also in the daytime.
Price wise it is hard to beat - The biggest downside for me was that I also like the regular scene, i.e. non GDP. But that does not seem to exist in FOR. It seems all the girls work, even if just part-time. My friend recommended another place that is the place to be on Wednesday - sorry don't remember the name right now - and mentioned that is where many of the regular girls go to meet gringos, sole purpose is to supplement their income.
Also, Fortaleza is not really all that beautiful of a city. But, my primary plans were certainly not to tour the city :-)

Just a quick Fortaleza update. I am currently in the city. Can confirm 100 reais for all night. I actually got the sense I could have bargained lower in one case and Im not a very good bargainer.
Like LM said its mostly morena clara. The girls tend to be tiny. Some absolute stunners that would rival anything in Rio.
Fortaleza itself in no way rivals Rio. I think dump is a charitable description. Its a strange combination of new apt complexes and abject decay.
Club Del Mar is closed for renovations and I understand that it does this every year at this time. If you like the disco atmosphere just walk 30 feet to Mambos. If you dont want to be clipped for drinks go to the Heiniken bar (run by a couple of dutch guys) and skol is 5 reais a pop.
I have been here 10 days and have not yet met another american. Its mostly Dutch, German and Italian. Its also the off season.
I have been informed that there exists a house of ill repute known as 20 20 in the brazilian custom of naming such places after the street address. Sunday (today) may not be a fair test of its charms so I will wait until monday. They say any cab driver will know but a helpful Belgian has marked the spot on my tourista map. Will confirm later in the week.
By the way I am staying at the New Point apts as did LM. I am staying for the month and am paying the princely sum of 900 reais plus electricity. The place is no Hilton but it has hot water a bacony, a seperate bedroom, a servicable kitchen, etc. Overall I am very pleased.
Well, off to the mall to practice my woefull portuguese.

Try a club called Armazen on Wednesday. Too bad Cafe del Mar is closed for rennovations, but this is somewhat super low season and a good time for them to do so.
My friend, who is a Fortaleza veteran, told me that on Wednesday the whore clubs will be deserted. His quote "On Wednesdays, just about the whole city (including whores) goes to a big club called Armazen. The cool thing here is if a "regular" girl goes to Armazen on Wed and leaves with a gringo for cash, she is not considered a "whore." It's like they get a free pass on Weds, so you get lots of new amateurs or fresh meat"
Anyway, I agree with the above - Forteleza is somewhat of a dump. My expecations were so high after so many brazilians told me that it was so nice. I think the nice parts are hours by car - the remote beaches. I think the next time I come back I will get a GDP to accompany me to one of those remote beaches and take an overnight trip.

Good rpt/update LM & DF. When i was in FOR last summer r80 was the most i gifted for all-nighter.
You can find many nonpros at Mucuripe & other numerous bars/clubs in centro, Iracema, Meireles. Pirata, Orbita, Swing, etc. Armazen is on the corner of Jaceguai & Almirante Barroso. Each nite of the week a different spot is the happening place to go.
Remote beaches Cumbuco & Lagoinha (near Paraipaba) are little nicer & much less crowded than the popular Praia do Futuro. Farther away & probably Ceara's mais bellas praias are Jericoacoara & Canoa Quebrada.
By Dogface10 on Monday, April 27, 2009 - 11:55 am: Edit
Barring torrential rain I will try Armazen this Wed. Should be interesting.
I think that I should point out that Forto is pretty much non english speaking. Its Portuguese or starve. This actually works out very well for me as my main goal, above and beyond humping 19 year old girls, is to learn the lengua.
I went to a place on Praia do Futuro known only to me (and the taxi driver fortunately) as Croco beach. It was pleasant and kept free of street crime. A good number of working girls seem to be allowed to get in this rerstricted area of beach. Food, restrooms and girls. It was nice.
Aldeota seems to be a pleasant and non decayed part of the city. I walked all over this area yesterday. Looked like there might be some good restaurants there too.
By Dogface10 on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 - 11:30 am: Edit
I went to the "famous" 2020 casa last night. Just your standard latin american casa. Nothing special and does not rival or resemble a Rio termas.
Hugh Downs might be able to get excited about the selection but I saw only 2 out of about the 15 or 20 they had available that I would do under the proper circumstances and I had not yet consumed anywhere near the proper amount of circumstances.
By Lovingmarvin on Sunday, May 03, 2009 - 10:10 am: Edit
Did you you go to Armazen? How was it?
By Dogface10 on Monday, May 04, 2009 - 06:48 am: Edit
No, I havent gone yet. Probably this Wed. night although I might wait until Sat. I need a break from screwing!
By Zoner on Monday, May 04, 2009 - 07:50 am: Edit
Croco beach is well-known by locals as it's ground zero in Praia do Futuro. It's called Croco (short for crocodilo) beach cuz that's the name of the touristy outdoor restaurant/entertainment/recreation complex. Yes p4p beach girls hang out there but sometimes they're not allowed in by security.
Mucuripe's address: Rua Travessa Maranguape 108 in centro. At the time it was the #1 club (mostly nonpros) in the city. If memory serves fridays (or saturdays?) was the nite to go. Check w/ locals.
By Lovingmarvin on Monday, May 04, 2009 - 07:57 am: Edit
I would be very interested to know about Aramazen, but specifically on a Wednesday.
Regarding Croco beach, there are GDP's there. As I reported in my initial report, I did pick-up one there that I stayed with for two nights.... it was pretty easy picking out the working girls as they made quite a bit of eye contact. Nothing discreet about it :-) It was more like she grabbed me, versus the other way around.
By Dogface10 on Thursday, May 14, 2009 - 02:14 pm: Edit
Aramazem was fun. Went yesterday (Wed). Big place. Open air dance floor and huge stage. Very good live music.
I counted 3 bars but there was an upstairs level that was closed off probably due to it being the off season. There was also an enclosed bar/dance floor with crazy strobe lights but I only waited at the door while my date went in to tell her friend she had found a gringo and was leaving for the night. Even then I think I had a series of petite mal seizures.
Im bad at these approximations but Im going to say there were 300 people there - possibly a lot more. Easily as big as Help.
Entrance 15 reais. Beers 3.50. Very cheap. Wed. is GDP night it seems. A lot of "normal" people there though. Everyone dancing. Had a great time.

Great information here guys. Thanks for sharing
