Gents,

Many of you who know me out here probably thought the "Something Different" part would be some gal with a donkey or something similar. Sorry, it's not like that at all.

On this last Thanksgiving trip, I was invited to a designer college by a girl I know who is studying at the school. She hadn't really told me much about what it was I was being invited to but did tell me to bring my camera. So up the winding mountain toward Santa Elena I went.

As it turned out, the students were putting on a fashion show of their latest swimwear designs. I guess it also allowed the parents to see what their education money was getting them.

These are just a few of the shots I took of the models (all amateurs) displaying the designs. Who knows, maybe you will see some of them being worn on the beaches of Cartagena and San Andres the next time you happen to be there. Maybe even a few Mansion girls will be wearing one when taking a dip in the pool.

Colombians take their fashion and beauty pageants pretty seriously. And Medellin is supposedly the fashion center of the country, so shows like this are pretty frequent over there I'd imagine.

Fashion mavens can keep an eye out for the suits - I'd be happy enough to see some of these 'amateur models' on the beaches of Cartagena and San Andres.

cool to happen onto a fashion show. that girl who's in a couple shots (and the first and last one posted) woo hoo! sweet! but the swimsuits look too nice to get wet!

The mulatta in white looks yummy. Interesting that many of these Paisas can pass for Russian girls.

Not a chance. And these look too impractical to ever end up on the beach. Combo bathing suit/garter belt? Knit midriff?
