At the Iribuera shopping mall, go to top floor (I think), there is a bookstore with coffee shop and internet cafe with fast connection.
The Parthenon hotel I was staying at had a dial up, you buy a card for 60 min for 15R.

Hello Athos,
I'm headed to SP next week and I'm staying at Blue Tree in Iribuera per your suggestion. I fly into the international airport and I'm wondering how much the taxi fare is roughly? What kind of cab do I take from the airport. I stuck to yellow cabs in Rio. Any suggestions for food (italian, sushi, seafood) that are nearby?
thanks,
dt55805

I stayed at the Parthenon but Bluee Tree has been recommended by others.
I flew into CGH not GRU so not sure about taxi fare from there but you're looking at min 40 min ride.
I did not eat in Sampa, only DATY. Actually I ate at the American Bars as they provide buffet and have regular menus.
For fine dining, I recommend checking some travel sites.

Great Rodizio in Sao Paolo.
Fogo do Chao
Jardinaria
With devaluation, you are looking at about $15 per person. But it used to be $40.
There are plenty of others that are cheaper.
Look for Feijoada on Weds and Sat is a must do. There are plenty of places. Here is a web site for a good one. http://www.estado.estadao.com.br/suplementos/guia/2001/11/02/guia035.html
Good Italian is all over. Shopping Morumbi has a whole group of great restaurants on it's lowest level.
The best value is several all you can eat sushi buffets (not the kind Athos is refering to). One is in Faria Lima but there are plenty of others.
If you do like sushi, Romanza has Sushi strip tease which is sushi served on a nude girl. I think there is also one on Santo Amaro as well.
The food in the Blue Tree hotels is normally very good as well.
Last reference is Veja magazine. It has hundreds of restaurant listings.

Dt55805 - When I was there last month with Athos, I flew into the International airport. It cost $70R for the taxi to the hotel. It is a fix price for that part of the city like it is at the Rio International Airport. Don't know about other transportation to hotel. You might be able to jump into a taxi outside that is dropping off a passenger and get meter rates.

For those that are staying at the Hotel Mercure Sao Paulo Jardins, there is a great internet cafe a block away. From the hotel-take a right on Rua Augusta and go one block and a half-Cyber 64 is the name with an orange front to the cafe. The manager (owner?) speaks good english there if you have questions about the neighborhood. Real friendly staff. Good prices as well.
