Hello. Im new to this scene and am inquiring for some answers to anyone who can give it about a trip to Rio. Im planning a solo trip to Rio around the last week of October and 1st week of November of this year. Wanted to see if anyone can tell me a ballpark figure of how much money I would need for this trip. Here are my details:
-leaving from JFK to rio for 12 nights/13 days
-I only need a studio rental
-need to know how much for food (i dont need to eat expensive at all)
-not a big drinker but will go out to a club/bar possibly 5 to 6 nights while im there
-as far as woman go, Ill be needing services twice daily. around the median price range. i would consider independants and escorts
-average cab fair but will mostly be staying around the Copa area.
if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. thanx
p.s I do speak fluente spanish but no protuguese yet as Im planning on learning as much as i can before i go

Seriously...assuming you have a airline ticket...you will need around $3000.00 to have a decent trip. You might need less if the Real keeps getting weaker. Go to www.vrbo.com to look for apartments. you get what you pay for in Rio. Plan on a hard bed , a newspaper (Saturday NY POST) for a pillow and minimal hot water in a real cheap studio. Try to upgrade to a better place, after all...that's where you will spend a lot of time with a garota.

$3,000 will not cover 2 weeks in Rio, that's for sure.

88, do some research on the site about stuff in Rio, read Bwana Dik's guide, then as you get closer to your trip ask about pricing. None of us have any accurate idea of what the exchange rate will be in 8-9 months. But, from what you describe, I would say, as a broad average:

US$1,000-1,500 for flight.
US$80-100 per day for lodging.
US$300 or more per day for garotas/food/transportation. Add more if you do a lot of drinking.

So for two weeks, today, I would say to budget around US$7,000 - 8,000 all in.

But, the exchange rate is the main thing, and since it's moved 50% in the last few months, there's no telling where it will be come the fall.

And most don't understand much Spanish at all. If they do, you certainly won't understand spoken Portuguese, though if your Spanish is top-notch, you shouldn't have an issue with written Portuguese.

in reais youd need 3-500 per day for 2 girls, 200 per day for apartment 50-150 for food and drinks just (if you always dine solo) upto 500 if you have company 10k reais minimum w/o airfare. why not buy some now as a hedge incase it drops

By Johnnyroc on Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 07:11 pm:  Edit

Cat..i was joking about the Spanish. $3000.00 would be enough if he kept it on the cheap. I spend double that as i get good apts and whoop it up pretty good. Taino 88 should have a good time with 3 grand. i know Americans who live there on 3 grand a month. you can always have a few meals at home and like you said before....the garotas will be happy with a sandwich natural if that's what your offering. I hope Taino has got some good game. On a tight budget...you need it

By Catocony on Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 07:45 pm:  Edit

US$3,000 is not going to get it done for a newbie on his first trip. Having game has nothing to do with it. A termas run is minimum R$250 with a soda or two, and can be a lot more. If he's pulling garotas out of clubs at night, that sort of thing, average at least that.

Newbies spend a lot more money. He's not going to cook, and doesn't have a list of numbers of garotas that he knows.

2 middle priced girls per day will be at least 4-5000 thousand reais for 13 days

My first trip was for 2 weeks I think I spent about 4000 or 4500 with a 3 to 1 exchange rate

If cost is a big concern then I would suggest maybe a week long trip now and another one later in the year.

By Catocony on Friday, February 20, 2009 - 06:32 am:  Edit

LD,

When were you last in Rio? Unless you're talking dregs and the questionably aged from certain places, then R$200 a program is about the minimum these days. He's a first timer with no language ability, and will be trying out all things new. That means termas runs and maybe some escorts, and garotas out of clubs. You're average is well under R$200, which is unrealistic as an average for a first-timer.

Can you spend a lot less by hitting fast-sex places and escort agencies? Sure, but that's not particularly fun stuff, especially for a 1st timer.

how about hiring jag as a guide

Hire Jag for a guide? I thought his goal was to actually get laid!

hey. thanks for all the feedback guys. It is greatly appreciated. I just wanted to know where I stand. Like I said, I speak/read/write spanish fluently and yes I know that portugues is very different so that is why I am going to learn before I go. And being that there are alot of similarities in the spanish and portugues language, I believe that I can and will learn very quikly as apossed to someone who doesnt know either of these two languages. I really dont feel Ill have a problem in that area. Ive also traveled abroad by myself in the past , not necessarily for mongering. (or was it?!) so im not afraid to travel to new and different places although any extra info would be great! My issue is mostly with knowing How much cash would i be needing for this type of venture. I may even settle for going for a week or a couple of days over instead of 13 to 14 days. Ive just always have wanted to go to Rio cause ive heard so many good things about it. again thanks and I appreciate all and any other/more feed back and ideas from anyone.

Cat to be honest last time I was there I spent about 4 months it was october till feb of last year and I didnt really pay many hookers, the dollar was way too low and I was there way too long to pay over $100 everytime.
I was thinking escorts mainly and help when I figured 400 a day , could be wrong though , Im sure hes gonna want to hit the termas everyday.

should be able to get an apartment for less than $80 at that time of the year...I got a studio with a ocean view during December for less than $100...$80-$100 if you want a hotel

Just for shits and grins -

I pasted some notes below from a chat discussion I recently provided regarding the cost of a trip to Panama.

Although I in no way want to steer anyone away from a trip to Rio...I personally would love to go there one day, but the cost, as mentioned by others above makes Brazil seem a little pricey for me right now. But, if cost is not a factor, by all means, make a trip to Brazil and check that item from your life's to do list.

Before I go on any mongering trip I honestly ask myself what is it that I am seeking? For me it is more than just getting laid or busting a nut as many times as possible per trip. What I really want is to have an enjoyable vacation, meaning...great food, great nightlife, great weather, beautiful paradise scenery, reduced or lower risk of crime, reduced or shortened trip distance (I hate flying 20+ hours to SE Asia), fewer hasstles (such as having to deal with exchange rates). And finally, I want to go where can I go to get the most all around bang at the best price.

Although I think Brazilian women are tops when it comes to looks, I do question whether they fuck any better than women of Panama, Colombia or Costa Rica? The true reality is that one can never really know how well a woman will perform regardless which country she is from.

Although I will admit I've never fucked a perfect 10 (read my homebase portfolio where I describe her in detail), but through the years I fucked a lot of very beautiful women from many different countries (including several Brazilian woman outside of Brazil). I discovered that the best sexual performers are not country specific, nor are they always the 8s, 9s and 9.9s, but instead the 5s, 6s & 7s from anywhere tend to give me the most intense fuck time and again.

Following the logic...beautiful women who see countless men fall all over themselves, paying extra premiums to fuck them naturally can and usually will develop an attitude of grandier. I find that absolutely stunning whores don't go the extra mile for me or anyone. Once the cash is on the table, they really have no incentive to make you want to come back because they know that other men who walk through the door for their very first-time will always pick them over the competition simply because the dude has no other reference to base his selection other than pure looks.

Therefore, what is it that you seek when you go on a mongering vacation? Do you have to have a Brazilian trophy at a premium price? Or, for the price of an annual 2-week Brazilian trip, how about two 2-week trips in a year to either Colombia, Panama or Costa Rica? (Twice as long. Same price).

Here's a snippet from my chat discussion:

I am generally thrifty, but when I go mongering I am "ESPECIALLY" thrifty. What I mean by this is I am not cheap to the point where I piss people off, but I will elect to monger in a more Spartan environment so that my annual 2-week fishing vacation in Panama does not exceed what my wife expects it to cost as if I were "really" deep sea (sport) fishing.

Lodging is typically the greatest cost when mongering. I, for one, do not need to pay an added 50-75% hotel fee when mongering to feel that a mint on my pillow every night makes it worth the extra cost. When I monger I only need a hotel room only a little bigger than an average size college dorm room, with good a/c, clean bathroom with hot shower, comfortable bed with clean linen, daily maid service, color TV and cable with English CNN, telephone, and security (lock box and armed guards out front).

When I am in Panama I down-play how much money I make. I tell everyone I am an average American, with bills to pay and obviously a little extra money in my pocket, otherwise I would not be in Panama on vacation. But I never put on a show to make locals think I am "rich". If you incorrectly think you must flash your American wealth when mongering to attract women...you are wrong. Flashing wealth abroad only attracts those who will screw you over.

Within my on-line Panama Guide I pretty much show you how you can monger at a cost of less than $250 per day. This includes airfare, hotel, taxi, food, liquor and paid fucking once per day.

A 2-week mongering vacation to Panama City Panama.

1). Airfare $500 Round Trip: (AA has tickets on sale now for around $350 round-trip from Boston). Buy direct from the airlines to get the best price.

2). Taxi/transportation: $250.00 spread over 14 days ($25 each way to and from the airport and then an average of $14 or $15 per day to get around via taxi to MPs, clubs and restaurants...no tipping taxis in Panama is expected).

3). Hotel: $35 per night. Total $500 at Hotel California for 2-weeks...not a 4 star, but the management is good and they strive to make my stay pleasant. I always go back.

4). Food: Average $25 per day. ($350 for 2-weeks). Food costs can vary from very cheap yet quality meals to fairly expensive $40+ dinners for 2 people at a restaurant on the Causeway. However, I usually eat at the restaurant at Hotel California and I also like the restaurant at Hotel Aculpulco and Restaurant Costa Azul in El Congrejo. At these restaurants I can eat a hearty breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, toast, pancakes, cut fruit, coffee con leche, etc., typically for $4-$5 or so, and lunch and dinner (each meal for $5-$8). I also like Nikkos Cafe for great tasty portions at a low cost.

5). Liquor, tobacco, entertainment, movies, condoms, lube, etc. $25 per night or $350.00 for 2-weeks. Liquor is very cheap. In the grocery store you can buy a bottle of Bacardi rum for $3-$4. The local rum is even cheaper. A can or bottle of beer bought in the grocery store is cheaper than Coca-Cola. At big clubs you might spend $3.50 or so on a drink. At local hang-out places you might pay $1.50 for a beer.

6). Incidentals. $100 for 2-weeks. ($35 Cell phone, $20 calling card, convenience purchases such as soda, ice-cream cone, chewing gum, etc).

7). Fucking. $800.00. This is one paid fuck per day for 13 days at around $60 per fuck. I generally do not tip unless she "really" rocks my world or provides extra services, then I tip $5 or maybe $10 depending upon how much I like her. (Realize the hourly wage in Panama is under $2 per hour...subtract the $20 you give to the MP, for one hour of massage and fucking she gets $40...that is damn good pay). I also seem to work-in a few "free" fucks from non-pros every or every other trip. I'm average looking, but I know how to "dangle" the carrot netting a few free ones with a selling point that I am looking for a novia and long-term relationship.

Total: $2,850.00 for 2-weeks or around $1700.00 for 1-week. (Airfare, departure tax and taxi to and from the airport is a fixed cost). Also, if you fuck more, it will cost more. Do the math. It is pretty simple.

I usually budget around $3,500.00 to $4,000.00 for my 2-weeks as I like to do a little shopping, sightseeing, and taking friends out for an evening of fun (dinner, movies, bars, etc.).

I could do this same trip twice per year or more, but then my wife would suspect I am not fishing.

Adding to the Brazilian discussion again, here are a few more postive points to consider Panama as a choice mongering location when cost to go to Brazil is an issue.

1). 3 hour+ flight between Tocumen International Airport (PTY) Panama and Miami. 4hrs from Atlanta or Houston.

2). Panama is in the Eastern Time Zone. I think in Mar or May we spring-forward an hour placing Panama in our Central Time Zone. But, hey no jet lag and no figuring-out what time it is back home in case you need to make a few phone calls.

3). Panama uses United States money. All of their prices (they call Balboas) are 1 for 1 with the US dollar. The only paper money you will see in Panama is US dollars. They have Panama coins that are the same size as the US quarter, dime, nickel and penny (these coins are minted in the US Treasury for Panama and actually work in vending machines in the US).

4). In Panama City you can drink the hotel water straight from the tap. Be more concerned that your cup is dirty. (US Corps of Engineers built Panama's water system). Very good water.

5). Most Panamanians speak some English. An estimated 30% of the population speaks fluent English (I didn't say perfect, but usually understandable). Spanish is the primary language, no need to worry about Portugese.

6). Beaches in Panama are great. So is the fresh and salt water fishing. Snokeling and scuba diving in Panama is world class. Panama City has excellent restaurants at a reasonable price.

7). Due to the poor world economy there is a rise in robberies within Panama, but I am sure the same could be said of Brazil or anywhere else. However, typically (assuming you use common sense) Panama is a very safe country to visit. Prostitution in MPs and call-girl escort is legal in Panama, so you should not have any legal issues if you stick with licensed women.

Realize that if money is a concern, there are always other options.

If, on a scale of 1-10, Brasileras are base 10, then I would rate Panamanian chicas about a 3, and Colombianas outside Colombia about a 2.5. That's based on performance and service. As in, I would willingly spend 4x as much to do a Brasilera with standard Rio services vs a Colombiana working in Panama or Costa Rica or anywhere else I've run into them.

In general, I would willingly pay more than 3x what I would pay any Spanish-speaking provider anywheres - Mexico, Central America, South America, Caribbean - to do Brasileras.

Choices reflect differing tastes and differing budgets. It's personal.

For me Panama City loses the comparison with Rio on several grounds. Rio = stunning beaches populated by stunning women. PC = sorry, they do NOT measure up to the beaches in Rio. No way, no how. Rio = fantastic world class restaurants. PC = not so much; and completely disagree about the restaurants there. They are passable but not excellent. Rio = amazing music scene and nightlife. PC = not so much, and certainly dull by comparison.

For me money is not part of the equation. I have no one from whom I need to hide expenditures. And since I speak Portuguese, neither is language part of the equation. And my one trip to Panama did nothing to convince me that the pros there could compete with the putas of Brazil. Again, this might be just personal preference, but I found the Panama scene all too similar to Costa Rica (not a compliment). OK girls who provide uninspired service. It took me a few trips to figure out that Costa Rica was not a mongering destination. It took me one trip to figure that out for Panama.

I'll throw my 2 pennies in regards to setting a budget for a first trip to Rio....just don't.

There are certain "1st-time" experiences that need to be savored because it will never be as good again. In my opinion, Rio is similiar.

You can skimp and save on the airfare, the room, and even food. But don't skimp on the entertainment. Going to the termas is a blast for your first trip....but they will start to add up.
An average termas visit will be at least 250R.

The Girls are going to cost you the most money. Check out the link called Rio Termas and you will see the discussions and pricing structures.

The thing about Rio is you can fuck a relatively hot looking garota for 1R/minute that could realistically work in a top tier termas to some old, fat-ass ho (i.e. Aeropuerto) for 300R+ that should be paying you.
The idea on a first trip is not to be exposed to either. Stay in that nice happy medium, pay the money and just enjoy your trip. You are going to Disney World, you are going to overpay for the food, drinks and everything else. But, it will be a "Magical Experience".
I've been to Disney World so many times, that now the only pleasure I get is looking at the logistical processes and the applied innovations in technology. The "magic" is gone and so will Rio afterwhile....sadly, you will get to the point where trying to find a good fuck for 20R is more challenging/exciting because the termas have gotten old and non-challenging.

I guarantee you, that first Rio trip will be hell of a lot more memorable/enjoyable than something else you spent more moeny on in your life (for example, perhaps some ring for some girl). Charge shit down there if you have to, an worry about paying for it later (within reason of course).
