I meant right side of the beach as opposed to left, which is actually Leme (from Meridien Hotel on over). Most estrangeiros don't know it's actually two seperate beaches. You're absolutely right that the action is smack dab in front of the Othon. Nevertheless, none of my carioca GF's (nor their friends) would ever be caught dead on Copacabana - too low class, too many farofeiros/Zona Norte people off the Metro, and too much risk of being called a piranha. Maybe now things have hanged a bit, especially since the Piscinao is so popular (sometimes I think they built the stupid piss-pool in Ramos just so the farofeiros will stay in "their place" - Rio class war never ends....).

My experience is that it is best to act like you are not really interested, spend time joking but go for the deal at the end at the price set by yourself. Just back from Rio. You were right the beach action ran me $R80 for a few hours.
there wasn't to much talent on hooker beach and the prices last week were high compared to my prior trip in august.
I had to wait hours before something caught my eye, at club Help the average girls were throwing out prices of $R300. I think they started a union in this town.
to tell you the truth, the talent was the same in august.

At Help I mostly paid $R150, once I paid $R200 but she was (IMHO)8-9.
You can get the below 6's for $R100
Overall the best looking ones would sit and wouldn't finch below $R300 and of course some euro guy would come by and drop it.
there was under ten ladies in the club rated above an 8. not because the place was dead but they would arrive by midnight and escorted out within 15 min. It was a truly sellers market.
