Probably best to plan on bringing your own as the local pickings aren't great.

The rock is quite an experience and the views are just downright incredible. About 45 minutes to an hour outside Medellin. Guatape is much more quaint than El Penol and has more to do but they are only about 15 miuntes apart from each other.

BTW-The bombed out house used to belong to Pablo Escobar

It is easy to get there from Medellin. We paid 10,000k per person for a midsize bus down there. It stopped quite a but and people get on and off.

On the way back we paid 15,000k per person and it was a taxi but with other people. My amiga was in the center in the back with me and another lady. There was a total of 5 in the taxi plus one small baby. There were no stops. Our hotel called and the taxi was there in 15 minutes.

There is a north and a south bus station in medellin. you have to be at the south station i think to go to Guatape. You have to be at the north station to go to Cali. It is not too bad of a ride from one bus station to the next.

The Hotel in the second pictures is the one I stayed at. It was 100,000k per person but included food. everything was pretty nice but there was not any hot water for the shower. it is inbetween the town Guatapa and the Rock. It is a closer to the rock. You can take the little moto chivas back and forth.

It was slow during the week. I would like to go there on the weekend and go on a party boat. The zipline was not open. I guess it is only open on the weekends. They wanted 80,000k for a jet ski for 30 minutes.

Kudos for the info and pics Riotime. Looks like a fun place to bring your favorite Chica for a short escape from the city (Medellin).
