RT here. I watched them build this hotel about a year and a half ago, then I admired it's shiny-ness and location. So when I booked a shorter trip (5 days), I decided to splurge on a hotel, rather than an apartment.
The hotel is located on Jorge Chavez, just one block off of Avenida Pardo. It's a two-minute walk to Vivanda Supermarket, a five minute walk to Adan Spa, and a ten-minute stroll to the Parque Kennedy/Pizza Alley area.
They refer to themselves as an all-suites hotel, but they list four different size suites and a standard room as well. They had a promotional rate of $73 for the regular room (the on-line rates for the dates I was visiting were about $95 to $200), so I wrote them and they honored the $73 rate. The reservations person's English is good enough to get the deal done via email. The day before my trip, I double checked their site, and the rates from my nights had gone down, so I wrote her again, and changed to the smallest suite for $94 with no problem whatsoever.
Checking in was a snap. They had my reservation on file (with the right price), copied my passport, ran a voucher for my credit card, and I was on my way.
PROS:
- The hotel is girl-friendly. They copy her ID and off you go. No additional charge.
- The rooms are air conditioned, so you can close your windows and sleep in the morning
- The front desk staff speaks English, ranging from passable to excellent
- The rooms were clean, neat and everything worked
- Free breakfast was included
- It is a 'green' hotel. Everything is energy efficient.
- The service was top-notch. Whatever I asked for, I got. They fell all over themselves trying to get me a cab whenever I left the building. It broke their hearts when I told them I liked to do it myself.
- The upstairs bar is open until 1 in the morning and has a great view
- There's room service. I didn't try it.
- The bed was very comfortable.
- Free wireless internet
- Lots of pretty girls work there
CONS- Only one guest allowed in the room at a time
- I showed up one afternoon with a girl who truly was just a 'friend'. We just wanted to go upstairs just to drop something off and change my shirt, and they made her sign in like she was a hooker.
- It is a 'green' hotel. Everything is energy efficient. The lights weren't bright enough for an old guy like me to read comfortably at night without squinting. Also, you had to put your room key in a slot to activate the air conditioner, so you could possibly come home to a warm room.
- The couch in my room wasn't all that wonderful, but I had the smallest suite.
- There was hardly anything in the mini-bar. It wasn't a problem for me, as I stocked up in the supermarket.
- The curtains weren't black out. They did a good enough job muting the light in the morning, but they weren't 100%.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to someone who is looking in the mid-price range neighborhood. Their rates are all over the place -- I just did searches for different days a few months out and found regular rooms as low as $68 and as much as $155, so find a price that you like and keep checking back. Check a few different times before booking.
