What is the best way to get to NL from Dallas. Do you drive all the way? Take a plane to San Antonio and then rent a car?

it is a three hour drive from San Antonio 5 hours from Houston. So take your pick how much is a ticket from the Big D to San Antonio? I would drive. Stay in the river side Howard Johnsons. $65 a night. nice resteraunt and bar. Shuttle to the bridge or 2 block walk. I would not stay in Nuevo Laredo for the first time. unless you speak Spanish etc...although it is nice. Keep in mind Yoosin very different than TJ.

It's a long ass drive from Big-D to Laredo. Damn near 8 hours. I usually take an American Eagle commuter flight out of DFW. Last time was $144 round trip for a weekend. Flight is about 2 hours and when you get in you can get a cab inexpensively to get to your hotel if on US side. Pick a motel near the border and you can walk to downtown Nuevo Laredo over the bridge. Costs $10 for a ride from the bridge to Boystown (about a 15 minute ride). Whatrever it costs, its sure as hell worth it. Best damn border town chicas in all of Mexico. Say hi to to the chicas in Tamykos for me.

Forgot to mention. You can get a Continental Commuter out of Houston or the American Eagle out of Dallas right to Laredo International airport. There is no direct service that I know of to anywhere else in the US. If you fly in to San Antonio you still have a 3 hour drive to Laredo.

I know that everyone's milage may vary but for my $$ I'll take Nuevo Laredo over Juarez, Nogales or TJ. I like the chicas better (my kind of gals), I find the overall expenses lower, there are no personal safety issues and the street taco vendor makes the best tasting (and healthiest) tacos in all of Mexico.

Thanks Juan,
I will start checking flights and see if I can't swing a nice little side trip.

I am so glad you guys brought up this subject. I will be in D for 2 weeks and was planning to drive down(8 hours-450 miles) to NL. I was going to rent a car and I'm not sure how much it would have cost including gas, but probably about $150.
Well I just booked my flight on Expedia($178 round trip) DFW to Laredo Friday evening to Sunday noonish. Only 2 hours each way. Thanks for the great idea. Beers are on me if we meet.
