Thanks for the report. I've been to GDL about seven times and I've got the place pretty well figured out. I like the motel options there. If you don't mind staying in a clean frugal room at a businessman's hotel you can do fine for about $20 USD.

I've been in that Walmart several times. From there, if you walk up Calzada Independencia north towards Javier Mina, there is a load of bars, mostly on the right side of the street. Some of them have ficheras who will take you upstairs for onsite action for like $30 USD.

I spent a good deal of time on Tagged.com but nothing panned out. The women willing to meet me were below my expectations and I did not want to wine and dine a woman I was not that into. But it should be very possible. i almost picked up a very pretty girl in a park and she said she was looking for a job. I think she said she was hoping to make 4000 pesos a month which worked out to like $300. The average salary is like 6000 pesos, which one of the newspapers said is not enough to live on. She there should be many women looking for a middle class gringo. In theory, at least.

True enough that the chicas living in Mexico who you meet online are not looking for no-strings casual sexual encounters. So don't waste your time unless you want to make a "friend" or are considering getting into a cross-border relationship.

I appreciate all the information in this thread. I want to visit GDL - possibly this autumn when the Mariachi Festival is in swing. I wouldn't plan a trip there primarily to monger based on what I've heard, and nothing in this thread changes my mind about that. Esteticas are a pleasant diversion for a traveler but I wouldn't build a trip around an assortment of MPs - that is unless some of the hotter chicas are good for private arrangements as I know they are in some other Mexican cities. And yeah, the GDL strip clubs are infamous clip joints known for hot chicas and Las Vegas prices.

I have a 22 year old TJ companion who is too good to be true spectacular in looks and performance - total fantasy chica for me. Futbolito, can't believe in retrospect that I posted that a week after my dad passed away in April. At any rate, it brought about my old mom moving back east, and the time I had slotted for a possible GDL trip around the Mariachi Festival was used to fly back to the east coast to visit her and the family.

So, maybe this autumn, though my tour guide chica I referenced has flown the chica coop at least for now. I have rarely been in TJ and didn't keep up contact. One thing for sure, lots of good chicas from Jalisco in TJ and few of them working in la zona norte would decline an offer to be taken home to their tierra at my expense! So I'll have to get back to TJ and start pushing the rock up the mountain again!
