Reynosa has a pretty large tolerance zone. It reminds me of Nuevo Laredo, but is not as big and the girls are not as nice looking. If you are close by, or just bored with NL, it is worth checking out. Piedras Negras is only worthwhile if you just absolutely don't have time to get to NL or Ciudad Acuna. The others I know nothing about.

I have been going to Reynosa for about 2 years, the best deal is the girls with their own rooms along the street, $10 up for one act. Boys Town there is on the west edge of town. The only club with good looking girls for the most part is Tropicana to the left as you come into Boystown others are really bad, few good lookers.$40 to $60 per hour for a girl at a room in the back of the club.

Is there much of a border wait these days?
By Highland on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 - 11:45 pm: Edit |
You can park on the U.S. side of the border for $3. It is not a bad walk to Boys' Town, about 20-30 minutes. After crossing the bridge, make a U-turn to the right and you will come to the leavy. There are roads on either side of it and a pathway along the top. When you come to a big intersection, look to the left and you should see a large neon sign for "Lipstick," one of the clubs there. The entrance to the compound on foot is $1. There were a couple of real lookers at Lipstick. One was named Laticia. Said she was 29 and has two girls. Nice figure, beautiful face. A good date.
You are expected to sit down, order a drink ($3 for a soft drink) and tell the waiter who you would like to have join you. The girl's drinks are the same price. If you return on foot, the bridge across the Rio Grande is a bit confusing. You stay to the left of the vehicular traffic going your way back to Texas. At midnight Saturday night, the building was closed, so immigration checked you out at one of the otherwise closed vehicular trafic lanes. Zero wait on foot. There appeared to be about 10 cars waiting to turn left on to the bridge, plus cars turning right and going straight. The bridge was full of cars.

Guys I went to Reynosa in January. My views are this.
1) There are some very pretty girls, some of the finest I have seen in Mexico
2) They all have attitudes
3) the zone is a real pain in the ass with the waiters hounding you
4) the room girls are ok but the rooms are terrible
5) Lipsticks is the bar. If I go again I will stay there and take my time and probally do about 3 girls.
For the record I am 40 years old, decent looking but gringo, I lived in Mexico for 3 years and speak spanish fluently so I have been around the whore scene in Mexico. I just didn't want you to think that I am some smartass 1st timer. If you go here have fun

A bunch of Texas guys met up a few weekends ago in Reynosa. Reynosa has a population of over a million people. Both Continental and Southwest Airlines have some inexpensive ticket prices at the moment. There was an excellent turnout; probably a dozen guys in total including Hombres Wilco, emailkid, DearJohn. Most everyone flew into the city on the US side of the border, McAllen, since Reynosa is a long drive even from Houston and Austin. We even had 3 attendees who flew in for dinner, stayed up all night running around Boystown and caught the dawn flight out the next morning (I believe that the story that they told their significant others was that they were gambling in Louisiana). McAllen and its airport are actually located about 10 miles north of the border so normally one would need to take a $20 cab ride to the border. But Parrothead, being the great guy that he is, was running a free shuttle service from the airport to the border (Thanks Parrothead).
The group met up initially at a very nice restaurant recommended by Obwon called La Fogata. This is one of the nicest places to eat in Reynosa and traditional Mexican fare (roasted meats including goat, lamb, and beef ) is served. I had the roasted goat and it was excellent. Several of us sustained neck injuries as we watched some of the gorgeous Latina women in other parties walk across the restaurant.
One place that we planned on going is a downtown dance club called the Imperial. The Imperial has a large dance floor on one end of the building and a long bar with tables on the other end of the club. I visited the Imperial on my previous trip to Reynosa and there were lots of attractive women there on that particular night. I have heard conflicting stories about whether the women there are all pros or just Mexican women who want to meet Americans. When our group arrived at the Imperial, we sent our trusted scout Parrothead ahead to check out the action (there was a cover) and he reported that the place was dead so we headed off to our top target for the night, Boystown. I like the overall atmosphere in the Imperial so I hope to return in the future and spend some more time there.
The main event consisted of going to Reynosa's Boystown. For those familiar with the Boystown in Nuevo Laredo, its setup and layout are very much the same. It is an enormous compound full of dozens of clubs, bars, and girls with the little rooms. Boystown is located about 1.5 west of downtown. Many of the girls take the bus to Reynosa from Monterey for the weekend and then return to Monterey Monday morning. Several of the larger clubs are the PussyCat, Lipstick, Tropicana, and StarDust. It was kind of fun to wander from club to club in order to see what was going on in each club. The talent seemed to be better in PussyCats than any of the other clubs. Pussycats is similar to an American strip club but all of the girls are available. Prices tend to range from about $60 to $100 (this price range actually seems a bit higher than any of the other clubs in Reynosa or Nuevo Laredo for that matter). Parrothead told us that he had a funny discussion about price with a girl that went from 1) a $10 price prior to going to the room, 2) to $100 after the act, 3) to $80 counter-offer by Parrothead to 4) a final offer from the girl for $70; I suspect that there might have some language difficulties here
I stayed at a hotel downtown called the Hotel San Carlos, Ave Hidalgo - #970. The rooms were very comfortable, A/C worked great (Reynosa gets very hot especially in the summer) and the cost was $50/night. If you know where you are going, the San Carlos is a short walk from the border (of course, on our first night I claimed to know where I was going & led a group of guys around in circles as we looked for the hotel). This seems like a great location to stay as it is across from the city's main square (the square is full of big trees and lined with park benchs) and there is a pedestrian mall that runs north/south along Hidalgo Ave. The mall is a great place to take a stroll and girl watch; lots of very attractive Latina women to admire. The temperatures can really heat up during the daytime but as the early evening approaches, the breezes pick up, temperatures drop, and the square fills with people.
Tidbits - crossing through customs back into the US can take an hour or so by car (prior to September 11, it usually was only a few minutes to cross). So I would recommend walking across the bridge and getting a cab from the US side especially if you need to catch a flight out of the McAllen Airport. The cabs generally wait in the parking lot to the left of the bridge. If you do have a car, there is parking at the border that costs $3 per day. If you stay multiple days/nights then you will need to make arrangements with the parking lot attendant or they will probably tow you.

Nice report, YT, sounds like fun.
By Youngtom on Sunday, May 05, 2002 - 01:35 pm: Edit |
Layne - I would say that Nuevo Laredo/Reynosa are very comparable. Porker or one of the TJ vets could probably give a better comparsion of TJ to NL than I. I've visited TJ a couple of times, NL many times, and Reynosa 3 times. In my opinion, TJ seems to have out-grown itself & the top clubs CC/Adelitos are extremely crowded. The Reynosa/NL experience is more laid back. You can find enough trophies to keep you busy for a weekend in any of these 3 places. I was robbed in my hotel in TJ the last time that I was there so I personally would opt for Reynosa or NL. You're still in OKC (I feel for ya) right? I'm not sure how your planning on getting to the border; Laredo is a couple of hours closer than Reynosa if you are thinking about driving.
Porker - have you made it to Reynosa yet? I've seen some of your recent posts on Monterrey. I'm hoping to visit Monterrey sometime this summer.
By Porker on Sunday, May 05, 2002 - 03:39 pm: Edit |
No, never been, though it's about the same travel time/cost for me as going to NL. I Only go to NL on the way to visiting family in the states, though, which means that Raynosa would be a special trip.
I can't compare TJ to Reynosa, as I have never been, but I have been to Nuevo Laredo several times, and the quality is much better in TJ -- girls are younger, in better shape. Also, asking prices are lower in TJ.
Personally I prefer Monterrey to NL, though it is a massage parlor and strip club based scene as opposed to brothel bars like NL and from the sounds of it, Reynosa.
ANYPLACE in Mexico would have a hard time beating the sheer quantity of chicas available that TJ does. Between Adelitas, Chicago and street girls alone there'd be more than 250 chicas working on any given day simply for the asking. Add in Tropical, Las Chavelas and Miami/Hong Kong and the smaller bars, PLUS Revolucion AND the massage parlors, and the TJ scene is simply HUGE. With all of those options it's hard to go wrong.

YT,
Good report buddy. Sorry as a honorary Texan that I missed the fun.
Porker,
I diasgree just a little and as an honorary Califonicator I'll explian why. O yeah, and thanks for the tip about the Internet Cafe on second. Good place.
I have been to NL about 6 times and TJ maybe 100. They are about equal commutes time wise for me, so obviously there is something about TJ that I like.
TJ is without parallel the best daytime action of the Mexican border towns, and it's primarily because of Adelitas. TJ takes a while to learn and can be dangerous. NL is much more laid back and safer. TJ is a rush. BT has friendly cantinas with a relaxed atmosphere. You make friends slowly and carefully in TJ. In BT everybody is your friend.
Tj has better looking girls, but Papaguyos has a good selection. Tj has the advantage of the great outdoors on the USA side which is a big draw for me. I love alpine hiking and hanging out on the beach. When it's 55 in TJ everybody complains about the cold weather. When it's 120 in NL nobody can say shit.
I like em both, but I'm a TJ regular.
However after seeing places away from the borders, if it wasn't for my weekend trips, I would never go to a border town.
By Sageprospero on Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 01:41 pm: Edit |
I have been to TJ at least 10 times over the last six years. I have noticed that place become more crowed, dangerous, and expensive. However, there are still alot of women there.
I now live in Houston and have much more experience with NL and Reynosa. Over the last 2 years I have seen alot of growth in NL, however Reynosa remains a real shit-hole. Here is my run-down.
REYNOSA
Good location to McAllen airport (MFE). You should be able to taxi to the border for under $30. Other valley airports are Brownsville (BRO)and Harlingen (HRL). Southwest serves HRL, and Continental has service into all three. I can usually book a 24 hour deal (weekend only) on a rental car for under $30. This is the best option in my opinion. Otherwise, driving here take a lot of time because the route from Houston doesn't include much Interstate highway.
Beyond a doubt Reynosa has the best street girls working out of cubicales. I am afraid even better than Tijuana. For $10 to $20 you can screw young gorgeous women from all over Mexico. You see, the valley (Reynosa - Matamoros) is cheaper and easier (by bus) to reach that any other point on the U.S. border for the majority of the Mexican population. There are a stunning number of women up for the weekend, and most don't like the clubs in Reynosa. I have to agree the clubs are real clip joints. They change the girls and us too much to use their faculities. Most of the club girls are up for lengthy periods of time. You will find the best at Pussycat, and it will cost $60 + $20 for the room. However you will find the best, and I spent almost 2 hours the last time. The $10 "lapdances" at Atlantis is also fun. Basically you can touch anything for 5-7 minutes a (long) song.
NUEVO LAREDO
Service into the airport LRD sucks because both Contiental and American use prop-based puddle jumpers. I usually drive because the road is good by way of San Antonio.
The best deal here is the club scene. Papagayos and Tamyko will generally cost $40 to $50 plus $12 for the room. Most of these girls are down for the weekend. 123 doubles a strip joint with girls down for lenthier periods and from more remote places in Mexico. The price is a bit higher here and you really need to speak Spanish to not be taken. Maribu is the best run club, with a laid back atmosphere, and a slightly higher price tag. Otherwise, the street girls are ok, however watch out for a few real hustlers. Stay away from the TVs that ply the back of the complex.
Also, NL has a bustling set of clubs in downtown. Many local women looking for a good time, and a few hardcore whores. In general the area has seen much growth in the last three years, and its looking more like TJ (crime, expense, population)every day. However the fear factor is much lower than the streets of TJ where the drug mafia controls everything.

Excellent reports on the Texas border action. I prefer Matamoros. While Matamoros has no official boys town, it does have a dozen titty joints, and alot of street walkers on 10th street. My favorite club is Paradise Men's Club. They have the youngest, best looking girls anywhere. The law says the girls have to be 18 to work there, but it isn't enforced.
And while perhaps a tad more expensive than the rode hard, busy little beaver boystown whores in NL and Reynosa, they arn't as sexually active. haha. Private dances in private rooms are totally nude, and only $14. Full sex deal in the back room is $45 per hour for the room, plus whatever for the girl. They set their own rates. I've seen a low of $40 and a high of $200. Price vary, and seem to be a function of how much you romance em beforehand, and when their rent is due. And these girls all have to go for a physical every week. They are clean, smart, and alot of fun. Treat them with respect, and they won't dissapoint you. I highly recommend them and the club. Bring cash and your ATM card, as no clubs in Matamoros take credit cards. And don't worry about the language barrier. These young sweeties know how to make it just seem to dissapper. haha.
Matamoros is very convenient for a weekend trip. Just fly Continental into Brownsville. The cabs at the airport can cross the border and take you to Paradise, or a hotel. No reason to rent a car. Paradise is open 8pm to 4am, everyday. I recommend the Hotel Residencial. It has a beautiful garden and pool, and if you wanna take your dancer home with you, she will like to use the pool. Rooms are only $70 a nite.
Don't stay in a Brownsville hotel, as none of these girls have a USA visa. I will try to post some pics of some of these exceptionally good lookin girls of Paradise.

M,
I am planning another trip into HRL next weekend. Myself, and a friend of mine are taking advantage of the SWA friend's fly free offer. I would like to see some of your haunting grounds in Matamoros. Send me an email (address available in profile access by clicking my handle) and we can talk.

By Sageprospero on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 10:24 am: Edit |
I've been to Matamoros twice since my last post and I visited a few clubs. Paradise was a lot of fun, however a bit of a clip joint. There was no mention of $45 in the back room, and the waiters wanted to clip me for 5 dance tickets in order to receive "servicos oral". I turned it down because I have a problem negoisitaing sexual acts through brokers, especiall male. I usually take my case directly to the female in question. Anyway I didn't ask any of the girls about a back room, besides the normal section for lap dances. I did ask one if she like to go to a hotel with me at about 4am. She didn't seem interested, however I admit I was a bit drunk and it was my first time there.
I found another place about two blocks off place on Ave. Obregon at around 5th street on the right (I suppose wrong) side of the railroad tracks. The club was run by a bunch of pimps, however most of the girls were dolls. They stripped all nude and had the $10 lap dance thing, which is really just a pretense for a private gynological exam. I had rough sex sitting on a chair in the back room for about $60. The room was dim and there was a roll of toilet paper hanging from the ceiling. I enjoyed every minute, however they wanted me to finish in one dance.
I also noticed another club about 2 sreets higher and 2 more blocks further from the tracks, however I got there too early. I also noticed a strange arrangment where a guy had a loud stereo playing and a living room full of bunk beads. I couldn't see very well because there was a sheet drapped over the window. However, quite an interesting prospect. Since Matamoros is the cheapest destination by bus from most of Mexico, I would be curious to know if these were chicas paying their way accross the frontera.
Any insight would be welcome. Email me if you prefer. I visit often.

I was reminiscing about my first time to participate in this “thing of ours.” I stumbled into it; I was naive. The entire thing seemed magical. It was Guadalajara and the year was 1999...
“ Anyway, that’s a long and rambling introduction to what I was actually going to talk about: Alex. Alex the angel. Alex the kinky freak. Large well-formed breast with slightly upturned nipples, golden brown skin, sleek athletic build, little round perky rump, dark steamy eyes, soft fine black shoulder-length locks, pouty lips, button nose—she was enrapturing. Alex necessita mucho sexo. Whether it was swimming in the pool, drinks at the club, dinner, shopping, or FUN, she brought an air of mystery and sensuality and interest to every activity. Fantastic. She was also pouty and possessive, but the making up was SOOO much fun. “This thing of ours” is different down there. It’s not nearly as convenient, but in some respects it is better.”
Fast forward. The year is 2002. Yesterday. I have business in McAllen, Texas. Reynosa is 7 miles away...
I did my research. Full well knowing that my curiosity would get the better of me. After hearing all of the accusations that usually fly around here with regard to our traveling friends, the stories that come back, and addiction some seem to have, I decided to go and see for myself when my business concluded early.
I crossed the border without incident. It cost me two dollars to cross. I parked my rented Mitsubishi Gallant in downtown Reynosa at a pay by the hour parking lot. I got a shoe shine and hailed a cab to take me to Boy’s Town. I paid one dollar to enter and five for the taxi.
Things seemed to be going well at this point. The cab dropped me off and about five guys instantly swarmed me. “Come to my club.” “No, mine is better.” “Muchas chicas aqui.” The cab driver had recommended Lipstick, so I went there. The “Muchas chicas” guy explained there was no cover if I tipped him?!?!?! Bizarre. I gave him a two dollar tip.
I went in and ordered a beer. It cost two dollars. The waiter only brought me back a five dollar bill as change from the ten that I had handed him for the beer. He explained that for the three dollar “tip” he would pick out a good girl for me–since I was his friend.
The waiter brought over Lily. By any standards, Lily was very attractive. She wasn’t Alex, but few people are. We chatted. She was nice. The waiter insisted that I buy her a drink. No problem. Five bucks.
She asked if I wanted to get a room. I said sure. The waiter came and took us back to the rooms. He said the room was sixteen bucks. I said, “ Sixteen bucks!?!?!” He said, “Si.” I said, “Well, shit.” I gave him the sixteen bucks.
Lily explained that I needed to give her sixty dollars for her time as well. No problem. Finally, the great deals I’ve been hearing about.
Now I like amenities–the finer things if you will. I have become a sort of snob since I’ve developed the means to live life like I like. The Mitsubishi Gallant was bad enough. But you know, I can rough it with the best of them. I do like a little adventure. However, air conditioning is a must, especially when it’s over 100 degrees outside! Sixteen dollar room–no air conditioning. Worse still, the room was humid because of all the water standing in the bottom of the shower.
So, out of necessity as much as a desire to get down to business, we both disrobed, split a bar of soap, and took a cool shower. After the shower we climbed onto the lumpy mattress. The sheets were clean and you could tell by the crinkle that the mattress and pillow (there was only one) were covered in plastic.
Activities began and suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Lily explained that my time was up. I said, “Excuse me?” She explained that we only had the room for thirty minutes, and that I needed to pay the guy more for the room. Naked, I cracked open the door. It was the waiter. I gave him a twenty and told him to leave. He told me that I needed to pay Lily more for the time. I protested that we hadn’t even gotten started yet. I turned around and Lily was getting dressed! I said, “It’s no problem.” Then I paid Lily another sixty dollars.
I slammed the door, and an apologetic Lily began giving me some oral attention. Now, I like to take my time. I view this stuff as a kind of art form. I like a slow build–the climax is so much better. Plus, it takes me a while...
Almost 25 minutes later there’s another knock at the door. Lily is still giving me oral attention. I yell, “Que paso?” A voice yells back, “Your time is up.” Angrily, I turn and open the door. It’s the waiter again. “ I need more money for the room.” Naked, with the door wide open, I scream, “F@#K!” Not my finest hour.
I turn around and Lily is getting dressed AGAIN! “F@#K!” I snatch my clothes off the hanger and storm naked out into the courtyard where I proceed to get dressed. The waiter comes up to me and says, “Propina para ella?” “F@#K!”
As I leave Lipstick, the swarm returns. “Come see my naked chicas.” “My girls love you long time.” “Hey mister, you want to f@#k?” One woman came up, licked my face, and grabbed my crotch. “Mi amor.”
Upset, flustered, and still loaded, I hailed the nearest cab. I asked him to take me back the parking lot where the car was. It cost me another five dollars.
I enter the parking lot. Much to my surprise, my rent car is gone. No Mitsubishi Gallant. WTF! I walk back out of the parking lot and talk to the guys that are supposed to be watching the lot. They seem shocked that the car is missing and ask me to describe it. I feel the setup coming. “I think I know who took your car. For one hundred dollars I can get it back.” My brain flashes back to the movie Traffic. “F@#K!”
One hundred dollars, and two hours later, I have my rented Mitsubishi Gallant, complete with cracked steering column and broken driver’s side window. I’m also missing my tie–another 100 dollars. “F@#K!” I cross back to the U.S. and drive back to Harlingen to catch my flight. Crossing back cost me another two bucks.
When I turned my car in at the airport, I called my insurance company about the damage to the car. They’ll pay any amount over my three hundred dollar deductible. Even by the most conservative of estimates, it’ll cost over three hundred dollars to repair the Gallant. “F@#K!”
My curiosity cost me $681, and I never even got laid–but I did get F@#KED!
Reynosa isn’t Guadalajara. Lily wasn’t Alex. Mexico isn’t the U.S. My curiosity is sated.

What you experienced in that town I know so well is "A Reynosa Special."
Reynosa is a pretty rough place, as you found out. You should have parked your car in the US.
You paid a dear price for being a newbie. I wish I could have been with you to keep you out of trouble.
There is a lot of fun to be had in Reynosa if you know where you are going, and who you are dealing with. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It has happened to others if that's any consolation.

Why did it cost you $2 to cross the border into Reynosa?...
Sounds as if the way to approach things over there is to shake yourself free of the meseros...Evidentemente, that's easier said than done...
Reading this thread, it appears to me like your $60 + $16 should have got you an hour...Oh well...
Will there be a next time?...

"Why did it cost you $2 to cross the border into Reynosa?..."
Bridge tolls for vehicles are not uncommon on the TexMex border.

Fuck. The guy got ripped off left, right and center in the bar and you're worried about a $2 toll? Seems quite trivial in comparison.

I have an offer to transfer to a store in McAllen...My wife and I (and son, 15 months!) would live in Reynosa and I would cross over to McAllen to work, just as I am doing currently in Tijuana...I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one...
My wife really wants to get closer to Monterrey...
Hence, my preoccupacion with the bridge toll...Reading the guy's report, truly, I felt bad as well...

San Carlos Hotel on the Plaza looks good from the outside and from the lobby. It shows up on the Internet. My guess is that it is about 10 blocks from BT.
To get to BT from the San Carlos Hotel, go two blocks north to Aldama and turn left (West). (Adjust as appropriate for the one way streets.) Once you get to a boulevard-like street at an angle (with some buildings and a park between the two lanes)take a left in the south-bound lane and then an immediate tangent straight ahead where the main street curves to the left. The block between the tangent and the main street is a vacant triangle with a wall. Go one short block and turn right for the entrance to BT.
The old Lipstick sign that used to be visible from the boulevard is gone because Lipstick has moved and has been significantly remodeled. There is a sign for "Mini Super Tonny's" that you can go by, but it is not neon.
What I am calling the boulevard starts from right at the bridge. After passing Mexican customs/immigration, take a hard right. One part of the road goes up over the levee and the other runs along the south side of the levee. The meet up and curve toward the South.
The El Ray Hotel on P Diaz (about Mendez or Madero) is a good basic hotel. P. Diaz is the first street west of the Plaza and the walking street -- Hidalgo. El Rey is a few block south of the Plaza.
There is what looks to be a decent motel on one of the north-south streets about 2/3rds of the way from the plaza to BT. It probably is between Aldama and Allende, but I do not remember for sure.
There is parking on the U.S. side just before the bridge -- $3 I think. Walking toll 25 or 30 cents each way.
The immigration wait times coming back to the U.S. will positively make the TJ mongers sick with envy -- less than 5 minutes most of the time.

Reynosa really is a gem and is a great alternative to NLBT.
Reynosa seems to be a redheaded stepchild as far as border town information. I wish I could help out more - this town is a lot of fun.
The only thing it is missing (other than not having a larger non-BT area for pros) is a good MP scene. I'm deffinatly spoiled on Monterrey's setup for this. If only that model would spread to the borders, I'd be a very poor man!

The hotel mentioned in my March 16 post between Aldama and Allende, is on Bravo and is named Estisi. As basic border town hotels go, it is a shade better than average. Everything in the room worked and the sheets were clean, but the room badly needed a paint job. 200 pesos for one person in a double bed.
