I live in So Cal, but our operations are located in central Mexico, which means go through Guadalajara quite a bit, to the point that I was traveling there 2-3 times per month. Now, that I am married (yes, to someone from Mexico) I only get out to the different clubs when I have clients with me.

I can tell you that the club scene in Guadalajara has changed dramatically. GDL de Dia, was at one time, the talk of all Guadalajara, with more girls than you could ever dream. They did have several incidences there, along with lack of proper management to continue their rein. I was just in Guadalajra at the beginning of the month, but did not have the chance to visit. I have heard that they might be closing this place down. The new clubs that have taken over are more of a US styled strip bar. Yes, you can still take the girls out, but it is more expensive than what you are use to in TJ and the level of service can be very disappointing.

For myself, I like going down there and just hooking up with the local women. Guadalajra does have some of the most gorgeous woman in Mexico, and not being from Mexico does have its advantages.

Anybody have any other recent reports. Heading down to GDL next week to meet a chica, but will have a few nites on my own, staying at fiesta americana. Would like to check out a good massage parlor and strip club or night club. I speak good spanish and have alot of experience in latin american cities.If not I guess I will have to go off past reports and cabbies.

Don't waste your time at Kaoz or Mens club strip clubs.Many taxi drivers know reasonably priced escorts or try Rape massage "pronounced rapay", or another parlor close to it. Also there are alot of good night clubs near Hotel Fiesta Americana which is also close to Rape.

Myself and Inspector are in agreement about the mens clubs. Unless you have money to burn and don't mind paying more for lessor quality chicas. See my post about "jet strip" above. I haven't tried Rape massage but it was recommended by friends that have visited. Enjoy the city for what it is, a great beautiful old city. If you find something new, let us know.

Is "San Agustin" a SG area ?

I just returned from a quick trip to Guadalajara.
I didn't go to San Augustin (ouch, a no-sex trip), but when I took a cab to the airport, I asked the driver. he said that street girls (U$20 & up)could be found on Obregon about 4 blocks north of Javier Mina in the San Juan del Dios Colony. I never found the place.

I liked GDL during my one visit, with the exception of the sex scene. The clubs were spread out and of an American strip club format (which I don't care for) and very expensive.

I liked the city and was interested in the general descriptions of the country I heard about outside of GDL. I would return, if I could expect some different avenues of female company. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

I'm going to be traveling to GDL next week and am undecided as to which hotel to stay at. Anyone have any suggestions? Also any suggestions on local car rental companies that rent with a cash deposit instead of a credit card would be most helpful. Fiesta Americana is conveniently located near Rape. It is expensive at over $100 per night. I also stayed at Hotel Francis in el centro ($40). Francis is a 400 year old stone building with an interior out of the old Wild Wild West series. The elevator cage can best be described as Old World funky. I visited Rape during the daytime and I do think they and the other esteticas are closed nights. There are other esteticas in walking distance also. Esticias Unisex are full of T-somethings and are for homo's only. The strip joints: Koas, Juniors, Rames, GDL del Dia are spreadout over town and del Dia is in a rough area you would not want to park in.

I heard there is some sort of street scene involving parks but I don't know about it.

Most people like the Fiesta Americana as El Cabrio says. I stayed at the Calinda Roma for $40 at night last Sept. It was very close to Hotel Francis which is a historic building. Both places are in El Centro which is great for site-seeing but not mongering. For the price I was pleased as the rooms were very clean and only a little worn. They did have a ancient elevator that none of guests could figure out including myself so i ended up walking up three flights of stairs. But it was quiet and a nice price. But if you can afford it Fiesta Americana would be a lot nicer.

I arrived in Guad via the highway that runs past the airport around 6:00p with the intentions of visiting Rape. I had in hand two city street maps, the address of Rape, and a great amount of determination. Even though I had never visited this city, I felt I was more than prepared. Good God was I wrong! After going in circles, traveling down an endless number of one-way streets, I finally found my way onto Lazaro Cardenas about 20 minutes before closing time. I began to frantically look at street numbers on the front of buildings but none were to be found. Finally around 10 minutes later I saw it. Seeing the brightly lit Rape sign gave me the feeling sailors lost at sea during a storm must have had when they finally saw a lighthouse shining in the distance. Anways, enough dramatics...
I turned around in a nearby traffic circle and flew into Rape's small parking lot doing about 60mph. Even though I knew they were closing in 5 minutes I said "Fuck it" and jumped out of my little rental car and trotted for the door. It was locked! I felt a wave of defeat rush over me until I realized that the guy behind the counter has to buzz you in. Yippee!
Once inside I must have resembled the proverbial "deer in the headlights". I'm not a rookie or anything but the way this place operated was very new to me. I've never gone to any of the local massage studios where I live so this may be why. For those of you who have never been to Rape, allow me to briefly describe it. It was very clean and reminded me of a high class beauty salon. Upon being buzzed in through the door, you enter a sort of waiting room. Thinking back on it now, I must have looked like that kid Ralphie on the movie "A Christmas Story". You know, where he's in Santa's lap and instead of asking for a Red Ryder BB gun he instead spazzes out and asks for a football. That was me. But alas, just like Ralphie I managed to ask "Santa" for my "BB gun" right at the last possible second.
After being led into the barber shop area and sitting down in the chair, one of Rape's beautiful employees strolled by. This must have been what woke me from my stupor because I think at that moment I remembered my mission and sprang from the barber's chair just as the barber was getting his clippers ready. I apologized to him and told him I'd changed my mind on the haircut. Since I did feel a little awkward I still paid him 50 pesos for his trouble which brought a big smile to his face. Both parties were happy. On to my original mission...
Even though it was now several minutes past closing time I told the guy who runs the place that I changed my mind on the haircut and would like a massage. I was worried that he would tell me to come back tomorrow but instead he led me upstairs to where the real business takes place. Once upstairs he had all the girls working there walk up to the top of the stairs so I could select the one I wanted. No less than 12-15 beautiful ladies paraded up to the top of the stairs, said "Hola" to me, and told me their names. Once the parade was over I told the guy I had narrowed it down to 3 finalists which he then graciously offered to have come back up for a finals round of the "beauty pageant". I forgot his name but the guy was really a great business owner. Awesome customer service in my opinion. My advice to anyone who is travelling there and is new to the area is to either stay calm and allow plenty of time to find your destination, or just take a freaking cab. That reminds me...when leaving Rape the front desk guy asked me if everything was ok (like a restaurant) and Maru asked if I needed a ride and if they needed to call a cab for me. They were actually concerned about the well-being of their customers. I was impressed yet again. Maybe though this was Maru's way of asking me out after hours...Maybe I'm full of shit and just flattering myself...Probably the second one...

I have been in Guadalajara (GDL) for a little over a month and that should be enough time to get a good prospective. Bottom line, GDL is about as far away from TJ as you can get and still be in MX. This is not about distance, this is about the real MX. The list of positives about GDL is far longer that the negatives. Here are some positives.

The women here are incredible! If you are the type of guy that can have his head turned around by a beautiful woman, you will be constantly turning your head. There are more beautiful women here, on every street corner, than anyplace that I have ever been, in the USA or MX.

Of course, I like Latinas, I like brown eyed brunets, medium height, slender and shapely female bodies. I like thick, dark beautiful hair, flawless complexions, and beautiful facial features. I like well groomed woman, that show pride and confidence in their walk. If you like any or all of those traits, you would like GDL women.

I am not new to “women appreciation”. I have appreciated women all my life, maybe somewhat excessively. But, the point is that I did not come here from Kansas. I have a comparision base of a dozen major USA cities and 7-8 MX cities. This place definitely has a superior gene pool. There are posters that know GDL much better than I, but I am west of Centro, about 10-12 blocks. It is also about 4-5 blocks from the U. of GDL, which means college girls are constantly walking everywhere around here. I am 1 block from the subway and 2 blocks from all the major buses. You can get anywhere in town for $3 pesos or a $20-30 pesos cab ride. Jet Set is on the west side.

A landmark would be Juarez and Federalismo. Anywhere west of there and you are in good shape. There are other good parts of town but I'm not familiar with them.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend any hotel. I am stayting in a B&B for $100 pesos per night.

There is a hit or miss Estetica in the Intercontinental Hotel. The first time I went the girls were fantastic. The second time, just fair. I is disguised as a Theraputic Massage/Aromatherapy place. Looks very legitimate but it is truely a MP. It is run by the brother of the owner of Rameses. The cost is on a par with Jet Set or Rape.

The only problem some times with Rape, is it is too popular. You spend time waiting or may not get a choice.

Guadalajara is a beautiful city. I arrived at night and was brave enough to rent a car to get to my hotel. I wholeheartedly agree with the post above that states the streets are a nightmare. Actually the streets aren’t so bad; it’s just that the signs are not as useful as they could be. Relying solely on the copy machine map provided by Hertz, I was able to find my hotel. There’s a Pemex on the corner. Rape is located on Lazaro Cardenas about 1 km east of Lopez Mateos Sur. Downstairs consists of a barbershop, manicure, pedicure etc. You ask the fellow at the desk for a massage and you’re led upstairs. There are about 6 rooms. The price he quoted was 350 pesos for a massage and if you want sex (well DUH!!!) it was 550 pesos for the lady as “that is her business”. He asked if I wanted to see the ladies and I said of course. GuiaRoji GR) maps of Mexico are available in Tijuana from the Sanborn's Department Store on the SE corner of Revolucion and 7th or 8th.

There is a "Papeleria" on the east side of Constitucion (maybe Niños Heroes), about 4th or 5th, mid-block, that has a different brand (with no name!) of maps, at least, of Mexican States, also good, in its own way. One of its advantages is in the use of color, and, I believe, indexing of cities.

Sanborn's is probably better for city maps. I use both brands for state coverage. One disadvantage, at least of the GR state maps, is that the damn things are not indexed, ie, names of cities. One brand -GR, I believe - does not differentiate the size of settlements, ie, 1-1,000; 1,001-5,000; etc.

If you get a bunch of the state maps, the Papeleria will give a discount.

That Sanborn's store is open until about 1 am.

The South Chula Vista Library has a 3rd brand of Mexican State maps that looks better than these other two. It comes from an agency of the Mexican government. The idiots don't bother to say on their map, how to get ahold of them, to get more maps. The librarian tracked the info down for me, and I've clumsily misplaced it. I'll try to get it again, and, if I'm able to get maps, post that. The library is at 4th and Orange, about a mile east of I-5. Exit Palomar, go east; Orange is south on 4th.

Arizona State University has a huge map library. They used to tell me that they had a hard time getting topographical maps of Mexico from the gov't. The librarians mailed money orders; never got anything. Somehow, they did get topos, but not directly from the gov't.

San Diego (SD) has a map store near the Sports Arena, called, I believe, SD Map Store. I seem to recall they can get topo maps. I also seem to recall that their prices are a lot higher - like double or more - than if the maps are purchased in Mexico.

I am going to GDL soon. I plan to hit Neffertiti, Rape & Jet Set. Those who have been to severall or all: what's your preference and can you comment on the scene in the surrounding areas?

I went by some low-rent strip bars a couple of weeks ago, specifically Club Texano, Club Boom Boom, and a third place (forgot the name). These were all located on the main road going from the airport into downtown. They were on the left, about 4 or 5 miles before you get to Lazaro Cardenas. There are other, similar places all over the city. Anyway, they charged $30 for a room on the premises, and then you negotiate a price with the dancer. One woman quoted me $70 and another $50, and probably could be negotiated lower. Quality was poor, with a couple of gems -- maybe an 8 mixed in with other women that you'd rank at 6 or below. Gringos don't go in these places, so with some of the women you're a bit of a novelty. I didn't partake, because I was saving ammunition for the esteticas. But next trip I'm thinking about hitting a bunch of these places -- they're entertaining, if you like taking a walk on the seedy side.

If you're just going to have A FEW drinks and look at the women, then the first rate clubs are definitely worth a look -- there are some real stunners. But sex is very expensive. Take a woman out of Mens Club and it might set you back $500+. Kaos around $250-$300 and Ramses, around $200 are more affordable, but still very high considering you're looking at maybe 30-45 minutes in a cramped room. One very good option -- the women realize the clubs have priced themselves out of the market, and it's not difficult collecting telephone numbers to set up something the next day. In Kaos some of the dancers will push their numbers on you.


As far as combination of good looking women and fair prices, the higher-end esteticas masculinas are definitely the way to go.

I know the question wasn't addressed to me, but--

Street Action -- There are two places not that far from plaza de las mariachis, where there are streetwalkers in front of short time hotels, but I don't know how to describe how to get there. Maybe someone else will chime in. Quality the times I went was poor, 2's to 6's with an occasional 7.

Better bars -- Best bars, in order in terms of how good looking the women are, would be 1. Men's Club 2. Kaos 3. Ramses. Based on Countryjohn's comments, Lipstick might now be in the same league too. Ten years ago Lipstick was maybe the best club in GDL, but since deteriorated. Maybe it's bounced back again.

You'll pay $250-$300 for 45 minutes on site with a woman at Kaos, and about $200 at Ramses. Men's Club -- don't ask -- very expensive, and no action in the club, to the best of my knowledge. A better strategy is to get the woman's phone number or vice versa and set up something the next day or after work. In Kaos, women will be shoving little pieces of paper with their phone numbers into your hand because they know the house price is ridiculous.

3. Esteticas Masculinas are your best bet. "Masculina" in the key word here. If you go into a regular Estetica, you won't get anything more exciting that a haircut. Rape has a good selection of attractive women. I like Jovi, but it can be hit and miss. Jet Set has been written up a lot on Club Hombre and other places, but quality the two times I went there was poor. Also, check the yellow pages, there are a number of these places in Guadalajara. You'll pay $60 to $100 for about an hour with an attractive woman, and usually room will include a jacuzzi, steam bath or sauna.

4. Escorts -- Haven't tried these but have heard good reports.

There is so little information on GDL, I tried some mongering with little information. Here is my experience. I hope this useful to others.

OK so everything I heard about Guadalajara is true. A very nice conservative city, not for mongering. But, I have to go for business anyway, so I’ll see what I can find. I read everything I could, and was not encouraged that I would find much fun.
Taxi driver said High Class Eteticas was good. I asked about Kaos, and Men’s Club, He said Men’s Club was closed, but said Kaos was open. Hardly a ringing endorsement.
I see a place next to where I am staying; big sign says Ladies Club, The bellman says it’s name is Cucu. But it’s closed. Bellman says maybe open at 8PM.
So, I get a cab and say High Class, and show him the address. Well he has never heard of it and can’t seem to find it. I saw the place on the way from the airport, and knew about where it was. High Class was painted on the side of the building in huge letters. But he never found it, but dropped me at Rape Esteticas.
I was met at the reception desk and said that I wanted massage. I was taken to a back room and was told full service was 1,000 pesos. OK, do I know which chica I want? A brief report on a few places I took in in GDL:
1. on another website, reference is made to a place on 5 de Mayo just off (south)Gigante. I gave it a try and it was of my worst experiences ever. There are perhaps 15 girls hanging around this courtyard apt.complex (most 4-5, occasional 6-7). The asking price was 125 pesos (wow!, right?). Then once you're in the room you find out that that includes the bare minimum of disrobing. So you ante up another 100. Then you discover that that's for only 15 minutes (including the time it takes to figure out the price schedule). The girl I'd selected wanted me to put the rubber on, and even then was reluctant to touch my hammer. Her level of involvement was less than Zero. Could have been my bad luck of the draw, but I'm inclined to think that this is a place catering to the local tapatios, specializing in cheap quickies.
2. Next tried an Estetica masculina (look for the full listings in the Yellow Pages) called Geisha located directly behind Sears on 16th Sept. 400 pesos got you full service, so-so massage, steam sauna (alone), an average looking girl (B-) with nice personality and above average commitment (her name: Paloma).
3. Next tried Jet Set, another Estetica, located on Av. Mexico just off Chapultepeque (about a block west). Much pricier and classier than "Geisha" (700 pesos), girl I had (Yeny) very attractive and friendly, solid performer. Again, steam sauna (alone) together with perfunctory massage part of the deal.

Just wanted to warn you gents about the transvestites in GDL. Being the Gay capitol of Mexico, GDL has its fair share of gays and transvestites. They are especially present downtown and around Plaza del Sol at night. My advice would be to steer clear of downtown at night and Plaza del Sol because there is a very good chance the girl standing on the corner is a dude!
