Help! Please... I will be in Hermosillo on March 23 and will be staying only one night so I want to make the best of it. I will be staying at the Fiesta Americana. I would appreciate and and all suggest on how to spend my time and some of my money that name for the best fun. Also, I will be in Chihuahua on March 21, 22, 24 if anyone can help me with information about that city also. Thanks
The easiest thing to do is just go to my entries on the massage parlors in Hermosillo, print out copies of the business cards I scanned for you and hand the card you have selected to the taxi driver and yell: "!Andale!...Arrriba!!...Arrriba!"
Just like that little Mexican mouse in the cartoon. The mouse's name escapes me at the moment.
Speedy Gonzales........and don't forget his cousing SlowPoke Rodriguez.
ps. I really need to grow up.
I´m in Hermosillo right now typing this post. I´ve been here a few days with a hooker hanging on my arm. Not to repeat myself, refer to the main discuss thread under the title, "The Story So Far" (April 11th ´04) it will probably be archived in the trip report thread. (hopefully)
Anyway, I can´t tell you enough of the beautiful chicas here. But more importantly, there are hookers here also. Some operate in mid-afternoon in the cantinas and streets. But mostly, late at night is your best chance of finding a good chica who can deliver with appeal, plus GFE: You can usually find them loitering in the darkened streets near the hotels and parks.
I´ve stayed at three hotels so far. La Finca is pricey, it´s a little over $50 per night. Holy shit! But you know what they say, what you pay for, is what you get. Only stayed there for one night due to trying to save money.
Also stayed Hotel Monte Carlo, which is on the corner of Calle. B. Juarez and Ave. Sonora. So-so, but ok. It runs $25 per night. Cable TV, clean sheets, seems safe.
The problem with having a chica/hooker hanging on your arm all day is it´s hard to meet other girls who respond with a nice smile when you look at them.
What I mean is, I was in this huge shopping store yesterday called "Garcia." I was with my girlfriend. (Hooker) I noticed a couple of female store employees glancing over in my direction. Now, I´m going to be very frank here. I know they weren´t admiring me, they were staring at the low cut blouse and short skirt my chica was wearing.
Yes, her revealing wardrobe was causing quite a few stares. But that didn´t bother me. While my novia was walking around the store sifting through skimpy outfits, I coasted on over to the cosmetics section and was greated by four very attractive chicas who all greated me with a sincer smile.
I talked to one of them for a few minutes, complimenting her on how beautiful she looked. She was delighted to hear someone pay her such a compliment.
Let me just cut right to the chase: Now here´s the problem we seem to be facing, my fellow mongers- it sure is hard to get to meet regular chicas (non hookers) here in Hermosillo when you´ve got some chica watching your every move.
My time here is so short and I´ve got so many girls here I´d love to talk to, but as circumstances have limited my ability to find a trophy wife, I guess I´ll have to stick to the basics of mongering with the chica who´s promised to be by my side.
Regards,
M. Bates.

Are you planning on elaborating on the logistics of your trip? I'm assuming you flew from TJ but if not tell us how you got there. How about transportation to and from the Hermosillo airport. What was your means of transportation around Hermosillo private taxi or buses?
Thanks
Reytj
Reytj, sure. Just check out my trip report. It's easy to find. I did it when I was down there. Check out my submitted pics to Hombre also. The hotels where I stayed at and chica reports.
Yes, I flew from LAX to Hermosillo, went to Cd. Obregon and then back again to Hermosillo. When I got the bus from Cd. Obregon to Hermosillo, I got a taxi, and just rolled the dice, so to speak, and asked to taxi driver to take me to any hotel.
He took me to Hotel La Finca (again, check out the post, under "hotels." From, that point, I had the vacation of a lifetime. And all because the chica I went to see in Cd. Obregon, (ex-hooker) got all pissed off at me for no good reason and I just said, "fuck this, I'm outta here, " then off I went to Hermosillo.
Why Hermosillo you ask? Well, it was the closest city to the airport. Hey, I could easily have had the same adventure in Cd. Obregon, but I didn't want to stray too far from the hotel.

Just to set the record straight I did read your trip report. I was asking things I didn't think you addressed in the info you previously posted.
Thanks for your reply
Reytj
Typo. Wrote that response to you rather quickly without checking it for mistakes. Actually what I meant to say was, the reason why I stayed in Hermosillo and continued mongering there, was because I didn't want to stray too far from the airport, not the hotel.
And now that I've conquered Hemosillo and seen for myself the amount of chubby chicas there, I'll be going back soon. This time I may just get the bus. I'm afraid of flying and the bus to Hermosillo from TJ is only about $40. The scenery is nice too, and the buses are very comfortable, complete with movies and clean restrooms.

The flight from Tijuana to Hermosillo takes one hour and 10 minutes and usually costs less than $100. The bus takes 14 hours so perhaps you might consider summing up your courage to fly one way and return by bus.
I have driven from Mexicali to Hermosillo and found the scenery to be non existent.
Reytj
When you live in an over populated traffic-congested city crowded city like Los Angeles, the desert scenery is a pleasure to drive through.
The most beautiful scenic drive anyone can ever take is from San Diego to Mexicali. If you take the I-8 going eastbound to Imperial County and then follow the Highway 98 straight to Mexicali, you'll see mountain scenery in the distance which I think is the most pleasant drive anyone can do.
I've taken that drive many times. It's better in winter when the mountain peaks are covered with snow. When I took the bus from TJ to Hermosillo, it took about 16 hours for me. Way too long, but not too expensive.
But hey, that sounds like a better idea, getting a flight from TJ instead of LAX. I'm going back soon and just might consider your suggestion. Are you planning to go back to Hermosillo soon? The reason I ask, is because fellow-poster "Brewmeisterbro" asked me about being a trip buddy on his next journey there. Interested? It would be nice if we got a bunch of guys (2 or 3) to go together, for safety reasons, etc.
BTW, what do you think of one of my submitted pics of Vanessa from Hermosillo? Okay, I realize she's a little on the chunky side, but this girl is definitely one woman I plan to see out upon my return visit. Total GFE.
Take care,
Master B.
MB,
Just caught-up with these posts. I agree with you regarding the mountain/desert scenery. I have been living in Tucson for 24 years and I still love the scenery! Never made the drive from TJ to Hermo, but I'm sure I would enjoy it.
A forty dollar bus ticket is pretty typical for Mexico, I have found. My ticket from Nogales to Mazatlan was only about that last year. And that was a first class ticket.
I plan on driving from Tucson to Hermosillo this morning. I have a couple of weekdays off, some money in my pocket and that 'ol itch that needs to be scratched! I'm sure glad that Hermosillo is only a few hours away by car!
If I "bump uglies" with any new Mexican beauties, I may post another brief report on Hermosillo.
I am thinking about going to Hermosillo next week, leaving on the 16th and returning on the 20th although my dates are flexible. I was thinking of driving to Nogales, parking on the US side, and taking a bus from Nogales to Hermosillo. Is this a reasonable plan? Has anybody done this? Any suggestions would be welcome.
If any of you Hermosillo vets would be interested in hooking up there or in driving down together, let me know. I don't want to take my car into Mexico, but if you're driving your car I would be happy to share costs.
BTW I have been lurking for quite some time, and never felt like I had anything say about TJ that hadn't already been said. If I make this trip, I will post a trip report. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Ratablanca
Just noticed your post today. I would love to make a trip to Hermosillo next week but, unfortunately, I can't make it this month for multiple reasons. This will be the first month in about 2 years that I haven't made the drive down from Tucson!
Next month will be much better for me in terms of time and money.
I made the trip by bus a few times a couple of years ago. There are buses that depart from Phoenix and Tucson and take you accross to any city in Mexico, but I highly recommend you stick with your plan and park in Nogales, AZ and take a cab or city bus to the Central de Autobus in Nogales, Sonora. By doing it that way, you will save considerable time and money.
I don't know where you live, but I recommend you stop at the Sonora Tourist Center on Broadway and Swan in Tucson; 4625 E Broadway, Suite 110-b; Ph (520) 784-0551. There you can obtain a lot of tourist information and pick up your FMT, otherwise known as a "Tourist Card" or "Visa" before you leave the U.S. If you are unable to do that, I would talk to the Mexican "Aduana" agent in the bus station. Tell him you need the bus driver to stop at the K21 check point so you can pick up your Mexican visa there.
It is possible for tourists to travel to the Mexican interior without a visa and not get caught. I did it numerous times. However, I got caught by the Aduana agent at the Nogales station a couple of years back and he chewed me out and tried his best to make me feel like an illegal alien in Mexico!
Your trip will go smoother if you just follow the immigration laws in Mexico -- as idiotic as they may seem to you.
Don't forget your passport or your original, notarized birth certificate with the raised notary seal. They will refuse any other type of proof of citizenship, including drivers license and voter registration cards.
You cannot pay for your FMT at the border or at K21 but can pay at almost any Mexican bank in the interior. The cost is about $210 pesos and the maximum time it is good for is 180 days.
I have found a lot of misinformation around about the Mexican laws regarding tourism. The best source I have found is the AAA Tourist Guide Book for Mexico. Don't trust what they tell you in the office. Just read the book.
The Central de Autobus is next to the big Ley supermarket in Nogales. I seldom find anyone that speaks much English there so I hope you have a basic command of the language and/or a very good dictionary.
Mexico has much more luxurious bus service than what we have in the States, but you must always ask for "Clase Primera" or "Ejecutivo". These buses make the fewest stops and are the cleanest and most comfortable I have ever experienced. Some have special seats that turn into lounge chairs (almost like a bed), two bathrooms and beverage service. All of the first class buses show movies and have stereo music. The best company I ever traveled with is called TAP but there are other good ones.
Lastly, be sure to read all the trip reports on Hermosillo, relax and have a blast! I wish I could go with you!
If you have any questions please send them to my inbox at CH or to my email: brewmeisterbro@yahoo.com.

Any idea how much those executive busses cost to Hermosillo? I've thought of heading down but never have managed.
January,'03 I took the first class Elite bus from Nogales, Sonora to Hermosillo, Sonora. The one-way ticket was $100 pesos. Not sure if there is an Ejecutivo to Hermosillo.
If your interested in Mazatlan, my notes from 5-03 tell me that the Turistar Ejecutivo from Nogales, Sonora to Mazatlan, Sinoloa was $564 pesos (O.W.). It departed 2000hrs and arived in MZT the next day @1355hrs.
Brewmeisterbro, just happened to check this thread and saw your recent post. I just read on the Mexico chat link, it is possible to rent a car and take it down to Mexico, it's Dollar rental. But I wouldn't advise driving way down to Hermosillo in a rented car.
I'm thinking of going back to Mexicalli soon, but not too sure yet. I also plan to go back to Hermosillo soon, probably in about a month or so. I can never forget the place. I have fond memories of that city and think about it all the time.
What happened with your novia down there? Are you still seeing her? That pic you sent in of the massage girl was awesome. If that were me, she'd be my wife by now.
Take care,
Master B.

Thanks for the info. The 100 peso's to Her. is about the best deal I've seen. Much cheaper than driving myself.
I'll have to give it a shot one of these days.
Masterbates,
You may have misunderstood me. I currently do not have a "novia". I do have an "amiga" that said she would help me find a "novia". In terms of the MP chica. If you are referring to Junia, I agree that she is a gorgeous hunk of woman flesh, very affectionate and well worth the $1300 pesos/hr I paid. However, I did not see her on my visit to Hermosillo last month
Regarding renting a car. I checked into it a few years ago and felt it was a little expensive compared to taking the bus and then taking taxi's when you get there.
Anyway, I actually enjoy driving my little Nissan pick-up down there. I'm thinking of having all mechanical work on my truck done in Mexico in the future. On my trip to Mazatlan last June, I had my alternator replaced at the dealership in Los Mochis and was very happy with both the quality of the service and the price I was charged.
Brew;
Went to TJ last night, (check out Mexico chat, main thread) and met up with some mongers who started this hobby in Tijuana and have now graduated to far off lands in South East Asia. I told them of my love for Hermosillo and how it's nothing like that crime-ridden dump TJ.
They kept telling me there's no comparison in regards to GFE when it comes to SE Asian girls. These guys have invited me there and say your money goes further with mongering.
One monger told me when he visited Hermosillo, he was amazed at the amount of beautiful women (hookers and non-hookers)in that city. I couldn't agree more.

You have NO idea what it's like over in Asia and your bank account is probably better for it!! Trust me, those LBFMPBRs get right under your skin and make you do some reMARKABLY st00pid things - like going back every few months!!
You really need to look at some of Porker's pics - especially the PI ones. Plenty of + sized women for you to abuse with your dick.
E
Thanks Epi. In fact, you were the topic of conversation amongst the guys the other night(I won't go into deatil on the board) and I was hoping you'd show up.
I really wanted to hear about your adventures there. God knows, I've jacked off enought o all those recent pics you mailed in to Hombre!
Master B.
From the list of suspects that's been released to me I believe I've barhopped with almost all those guys over in Thailand and/or PI.
Would be interesting to hear what those guys were saying about me though... heheh
E
Masterbates,
Re. SE Asia, I can only answer you with a very old cliche: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"; and a more recent cliche: "Been there and done that". If you are after GFE in great numbers, you can't beat SE Asia.
I spent 11 ball draining months in Thailand in 1974-1975. I had to return home in late 1975 with the rest of the U.S. forces after we lost that war. Remember that one?
I absolutely loved Thailand. I almost cried when my plane took off from Udorn RTAFB to take me back to "The World". I will never forget Thailand and would love to return some day. It is just not choice for mongering anymore.
IMHO, latin women are the most beautiful on the planet. I may not be alone with this opinion. I have noticed that a lot of Miss Universe's come from that part of the world. So far, I have explored only a small part of Latin America.
If Arizona were not so close to Mexico, I wouldn't live here!
Sorry, meant to put "It is just not MY choice.".
Know what you mean Brew. And yes I do remember when US forces were stationed In Thailand in 74. I can also understand your passion for mongering in Latin America, it's the same way with me.
But I have more than one friend who keeps begging me to go with him and give SE Asia a try. He repeatedly tells me about the Philippinnes especially.
I just might do that. But there's some other parts of Mexico I want to discover first.

Any updates for the best massage places and bars. I do not know yet where I will be staying but some directions to the various places from a known landmark would be helpful. Thanks
As I put in my Trip Report, get a copy of the daily paper "Cambio". There are ads for most of the massage parlors in town. If you are driving, I recomend taking a taxi the first time. The streets in most Mexican cities are too confusing to try to find street addresses while you are driving. I have done it with the help of a good street map from Tucson Map & Flag, but it is really a challenge!
My current favorite MP's are Paola's on the west side and Ero's on the east side of town. They seem to have the loveliest and most affectionate girls. But, as always YMMV. All taxi drivers know these places.
The going rate for fucky-sucky in your hotel ranges from $1,000 to $1,300 pesos per hour. You can fuck them at the MP for about $900 pesos/hour.
Any suggestions for non-hobbying activity there? Anything cool, fun, unusual, and morning-afternoonish?
Can't think of anything "cool" in Hermosillo in the summer!
If you like swimming, snorkeling, fishing, etc. you could head to Kino Bay or San Carlos. Drive or take the bus from downtown.
Brewmeisterbro, Did you ever meet Leslie from Nogales? She won the lapdancing contest we held a few years ago. Anyway, last report we had she was working in Hermosillo as a dancer. alittle over 5' D chi-chis and loves heavy metal music.
Regarding Leslie. She told me she was originally from Acapulco. She is definately the one you are talking about. Loves heavy metal and dresses the part in sexy leather pants and high boots.
Yeah, I met and fucked her. She has put on a few extra pounds so she is not too photogenic, but a wild woman! Paid her a hundred bucks to fuck me in my hotel room. As soon as we were done she was out the door. Definately not a GFE. A real hardcore hooker.
However, I do love her dark skin and great chi chis!
She is probably still dancing in various TD clubs there. Havent't seen her lately but I don't go to those clubs often anymore.
there was a time when she was very affectionate towards me, (I resist saying that she liked me).
Unfortunately it never worked out, me boinking her.
I would definetely love to go down and rekindle my lust for her, even if she has put on some weight. She had absolutely awesome tits, and the funny thing is that I don't usually dig the dark skin girls, but Leslie was/is the bomba
As ZZ Top sang in "La Grange": JUST LET ME KNOW IF YA WANNA GO!
Just reading over this thread once again, reminiscing over old times about my trips to Hermosillo. I just cannot stress enough how much I miss that city. I'll be going back again soon, I hope.
Master Bates.

Can anyone give me advice about strip clubs in Hermosillo or around Hermosillo, where the best deals are and the best bars. Thanks
Can an American drive a car down to Hermosillo without getting a car import certificate? Does the standard Mexican car insurance cover trips to Hermosillo?
I'm not sure about the car import cert these days as Sonora is a "free zone" but regular mexican car insurance should cover your trip. You could probably ask about the cert when you get your insurance.
Unless things have changed, you will need a tourist card. Sonora has free zones like Rocky Point but the entire state is not free.
By Lordbrs on Saturday, August 25, 2007 - 09:25 pm: Edit |
Roberto, things may have changed. I think they made all of Sonora a free zone now. I can't swear to that though. I know there were some big changes this year that they advertised though. It was on TV, Radio, and billboards in the spring.
http://www.gotosonora.com/ Just went to the website listed and they claim no car permits are needed. It's a good site for more info.
By Roberto on Saturday, August 25, 2007 - 11:45 pm: Edit |
That is a change and it is good news. So Explorer won't need any paperwork.
Anybody remember about 7 years ago when Mexico was going to make Americans put down huge deposits to cross their vehicles? That was a big failure.
Yeah, it's good news until January when you need MORE US paperwork to get back in the States which costs even more.
Oh, well. Could be worse. We could have 10-15 million illegal aliens who have no paperwork running around under the radar in the US... er.. Ummm.... nevermind.
JL
I took care of my Passport renewal back in January so I am set for 10 yrs. It only cost me about $60.
Officially, under Mexican law, you should obtain a tourist visa at, or near the border. This is also called (by Americans) "Tourist Card" or (by Mexicans) FMT: Forma Migratoria Tourista. It can be obtained @K 21. That is: 21 Kilometers south of the border from Nogales.
Price is about $30 U.S. Dollars. If you intend to return in the next six months, you should ask for an 180 day visa. You should remember to bring with you your original U.S. Passport; original U.S. Birth Certificate or a notarized copy of either of the above.
I have traveled a few times to my frequent destination of Hermosillo w/o a current FMT but I really cannot recommend it. I prefer to be a "legal allien" in Mexico. I know it sounds funny but I am serious. I have heard Mexican prisons are not as comfortable as ours.
I am sorry. Forgot to mention a couple of things in the above post. No, you no longer need a permiso for your vehicle if you drive to Hermosillo. At K21 there is a big map that shows that the entire western half of Sonora is now a "free zone" for vehicles. You still need the tourist visa for yourself, but nothing for your car.
Yes, I highly recommend Mexican car insurance. It is relatively cheap and well worth it.
By Reytj on Monday, September 03, 2007 - 07:34 pm: Edit |
The cost of the FMT was 210 pesos for years. I wasn't aware that it had gone up. If you are not flying into mexico you can get a free FMT if you are staying less than a week.
I just dug out my most recent FMT dated 13 Feb 07. It was 237 pesos. I stand corrected. I was thinking of the permiso for my car. It is around $30 dollars and, again, is no longer required for travel to the western half of Sonora as far south as Empalme.
Yes,I forgot, it is free if you only go for a few days. I always pay for the 180 day one so that I don't need to stop @ K21 on my next few monthly trips.
I rarely get the red light from Mexican customs so it is clear sailing all the way to Hermosillo except for the toll booths.
FYI: You will find no street-walkers in Hermosillo. They were outlawed a few years ago when the state government outlawed sex in the TD clubs statewide. Not that I ever found any good looking street walkers anyway.
Now, the only legal prostitution to be found in Sonora is the massage parlors. I hope the govenment does not shut that down!
There may be some free lancers working in the bars at the big hotels like Holiday Inn or Fiesta Americana. I am not sure because I usually stay at the No Tell Motels. The No Tells always have hookers they can call for you. I am not sure of quality as I usually bring a local girlfriend to the motel and do not use their services.
MB has posted some information about street walkers he has found in the downtown area. If you like the type of women he likes, all I can say is: GO FOR IT! I prefer a woman who will not crush me if she is fucking me in the cowgirl position! LOL!
I go to Hermosillo so frequently that I have a little black book with girlfriends/favoritas that I call. If I can't reach one of those, I explore the massage parlors.
If you want to see what type of woman I like check out any of the pics I have posted. I especially recommend my PAD pic. This a pic of my current favorita.

Always had a Mexican insurance question: I assume it only covers your liability if you hit somebody. Chances are it will be some Mexican with no insurance who will hit me so then I assume I am fucked. If I could actually buy a 1 day full coverage policy for my car, what is preventing me from calling it in stolen? It is this very reason I have never bought Mexican car insurance in over 15 yrs. Am I wrong?
Yes I got in one accident in MX but it was with gringos. They hit and ran me and my buddies and I chased them down and beat them bloody and had them empty their wallets.
Roberto, the #1 reason for buying Mexican insurance when driving down is so you don't get stuck in a Mexican jail to rot should you be at fault in an accident. Accidents are considered *criminal* events in Mexico, regardless of severity. If you get into an accident, the cop decides you're the guilty party, and you cannot pay right there or show a Mexican insurance policy that will cover the damages - you go to jail. And you're likely to stay there until somebody pays for the damages for you.
I always purchase an annual policy. My current policy is with Mapfre/Tepeyac. It is rated one of the most secure companies in Mexico. I buy it from San Xavier in Nogales, AZ.
Cost is $266.50 for a one year comprehensive policy. It includes both collision, upset, glass breakage, fire and natural disaster and total theft. The deductable for the first group of events is $500. The deductable for total theft is $1000.
I have shopped around, both in Hermosillo and in my home town, and the above is the best price/quality I have found. Mapfre/Tepeyac has an office in Hermosillo with staff that actually speak English! I assume they have offices in most Mexican cities.
For some reason, the same policy, from the same office (San Xavier) cost less next to the border than in Tucson. Perhaps it is because of increased competition along the border.
I aggree with Phoenixguy. I have never heard anything good about Mexican jails or prisons. That is the #2 reason I buy the insurance.
The #1 reason I buy the policy is because I drive a really nice, recent model SUV and it I have too much to risk.
I have yet to make any claim with Mapfre/Tepeyac but I drive frequently in Mexico so it may happen someday. If it ever does occur, I plan to post my experiences here.
By Roberto on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 07:35 pm: Edit |
I witnessed a Mexican on Mexican car accident in Nogales the other day. A guy plows into a lady's accord. She stops and gets out and tells him to pull over. He thinks about it 30 seconds and flees. That is how they do it in Mexico. If my car got damaged or stolen in Mexico I would take the bus back to the U.S. and call it in stolen on my existing policy.
By Fuegoel on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 09:31 pm: Edit |
Bad idea Roberto. With the wealth of cameras at the border crossings, it likely wouldn't take LE long to determine that you entered Mexico WITH your vehicle, and returned to the US WITHOUT said vehicle.
A subsequent insurance claim by you for a stolen vehicle could likely turn into an insurance fraud issue for you, or at the very least, a total loss once the insurance company found out your vehicle was actually stolen in Mexico.
The security offered by an annual or even one-time weekend policy is more than worth the action you could buy with the extra $50 (assuming weekend policy and your average Latina).

The post below is WAY overdue, and highlights my virgin trip to Hermosillo in June of 2007. I finally got off my arse and cleaned up my notes enough to post. I've since visited Hermosillo about eight more times and feel quite comfortable and familiar with the city and the clubs there. I even have a current novia who lives (and works)
there. And no, I won't share her info or details - sorry! Maybe when I'm finished with her ... :^)
Prologue:
I intended for today to be a glowing testament as to how I took all of the info I've read on this site, had glorious conquests, and made the most out of my first day in Hermosillo. Instead, the day turned into something slightly different. Not bad, but different. After reading this report, your first response might be "Damn, I'm never driving to, driving in, or visiting Hermosillo!", but it shouldn't be. Read on.
Props:
I'd be remiss if I didn't offer MAD MAD MAD props to Brewmeisterbro and Masterbates, and others here, who blazed a path to Hermosillo long before I even began 'hobbying' in Costa Rica, let alone Mexico. The info they've posted here gave me the confidence to explore the opportunities for mongering in and around Hermosillo. Thanks dudes!
Getting There, and Cops I:
I purchased a six month insurance policy for my truck, and I purchased a tourist visa at the checkpoint just south of Nogales. No car permit
is necessary. The drive from Phoenix was relatively uneventful. There was some sort of drug / weapons / DUI checkpoint about 5-10 miles
outside of Hermosillo, and this was my first interaction with the Hermosillo police / Federales (not sure which). But, since I did not have any drugs or guns (and was sober!), I was on my way within seconds.
Business and Cops II:
My first order of business after checking into my hotel Friday afternoon (~2PM) was to buy gas. I burned a lot just getting to Hermosillo, finding my hotel, and then briefly exploring the city to
find some of the various clubs. As I was parked at the gas station, and still in my vehicle (in all the cities I've visited in MEX, they pump the gas for you), two enterprising muchachos (youths) began to clean my windows - rapidly. Usually, I would shoo them away, but my windows were dirty and I thought, what the hell I'll support the local economy. No more than 20 seconds after they began - and just prior to their finishing the job - a Police pickup truck came barreling at me full frontal, and very fast. I could see the faces of the two officers inside the truck and they meant serious business. One of them was pointing, menacingly, directly at me. A thousand things blew through my mind, the last of which was, f**k, I'm going to a mexican jail for an as yet undetermined reason. The pickup truck skidded to a stop just in front of my truck, smoke billowing from the rear tires. At this moment, both window-cleaning muchachos took off like rabbits. One kid ran faster than I've seen anyone run in a long time. In fact, he flew across 8 - yes 8 - lanes of speeding traffic with no concern whatsoever for his own personal safety. I still can't believe he didn't get clipped. Both officers, at this same moment, bolted from their truck in hot pursuit. My dread quickly turned to elation as I realized 1) the cops weren't after me, and 2) I had some free entertainment while I
gassed up. However, somehow during the excitement, the gas pump operator found a way to scam me. I know this because just before this
happened, the pump was reading approx. $12US and I was at 1/2 tank (I left the key in to listen to XM radio, and I already had 1/4 tank of gas before I arrived at the station). By the time the excitement ended and my fuel tank was full, the pump read $49.50. So, either I was the Stupid Gringo and got scammed, or I misunderstood how my gas guage worked (NOTE - future experiences confirmed that I was scammed - my fuel gauge was fine). Regardless, I was glad my second run-in with the police was not really 'my' run-in. :^)
Time to Monger:
After this excitement, I went to one of the the massage parlors listed on this site - Pieles Finisimas. It took some time to find it, then I
didn't know where to park. I finally figured it out, went in, and had some fun, but it was nothing to write home (or here!) about. After leaving, I couldn't find Grupo Lilians no matter how hard I searched, and I also couldn't find Gau Gua, which I learned later had been closed for some time. I decided to check out the strip club scene next.
Found Lord Black. Parked in a secure, covered and fenced lot right next door. The lot is run by a muchacho who charged me $2. Money well spent, IMHO, as my truck is new and I appreciated the security. Entered the bar, and settled in. I
had just received my first cerveza and settled my a$$ into the comfortable chair (AND my type of hot latina just began her stage dance) - yummy! Things were looking up.
Freeze! (Cops III):
Then, in a split second, no less than 30 - that's right, I said 30 - not '15 but it seemed like 30' - but 30 heavily armed (and some masked, with FULL riot gear) police officers stormed the building. For the second time in one day, I was positive I was going to a Mexican jail for, again, reasons as yet unknown. A burly officer approached me (as
other officers were approaching other customers, rounding up the girls, rounding up the staff, shutting down the music, etc.), and he ordered
me to put my arms in the air. You can bet your f#$*@ing cajones I put my arms in the air! He proceeded to pat me down, grab my pockets, my
arms, my legs, my crotch, the usual areas (I assume, as I've never been patted down before in MEX, but the other customers seemed to be getting
the same treatment), removing my phone and keys from my pockets and placing them on the table. He then told me I could sit back down.
For the next 15 minutes there was quite a commotion upstairs. The club is tri-level, pretty cool, and the girls' dressing rooms are upstairs
on the third floor which is VERY cool 'cuz there is a 'fire station' type of pole they can slide down onto the stage. But, I digress. Ultimately, two girls were led out in their street clothes. Not long after, the cops left and it was business as usual. Apparently, this ruckus was over IDs (either the girls didn't have them or they were
underage, perhaps?). I didn't ask questions, as I was just happy to have once again avoided a negative outcome to my third interaction in eight hours with the Hermosillo police.
More Mongering:
At one point later, I had a blonde on my lap, I paid for a 16$ drink for her, and then she had to go dance. Thank you and adios, as she was not my type (too 'thick', though definitely attractive which is why I bought her the drink) - AND there was a HOT latina just finishing on stage that I was interested in. Mine! Mine! A few minutes later, I visited a Lord Black owned room across the street from the club, with this hot latina. The room sucked (small, HOT, humid and dirty), and
though we were into each other, neither of us was 'into' the experience. I certainly would NOT do it again. Next time I'd set up a 'date' for later that night or the next day. I left Lord Black's after that.
WTF??!! (aka Cops IV):
So, now I'm driving around after drinking four cervezas at Lord Black, and I get pulled over by the police. For the third time that day, I
thought I was going to a Mexican jail for reasons yet unknown, and for the fourth time that day I was 'interacting' with the local policia. Now, I'll be the first to admit that my Spanish comprehension is not great. In a conversational setting with a Latina target, I can certainly hold my own. However, I had absolutely NO idea what this officer was saying to me or why he had pulled me over. I must have played the 'Stupid Gringo' card VERY well, because after a few minutes of painfully attempting to communicate and mis-understanding each other, he let me go with what I assume was a warning.
I was still curious as to why I had been pulled over (I THOUGHT the officer was telling me that I was driving the wrong way on a one way street, but that didn't make any sense), so I decided to double-back and examine the intersection. Sure enough, only then did I see the *tiny* sign above the stop sign. It was an arrow pointing right,
apparently meaning I was only allowed to turn right at the intersection DESPITE the A) green light above the intersection, B) continuation of the street ahead of me complete with double yellow
line, and C) absence of any 'Do Not Pass' or 'No Hay Pasado' signs. Whatever. For some reason, the Mexicans AND Costa Ricans have a fascination with two-way streets that abruptly turn into one-way streets without warning. Perhaps this is test of some kind for Gringos. I certainly failed, if this is the case.
Laying Low, and Cops V:
I found a cool sports bar (Sport Planet, in the hotel zone) and hung out there for the rest of the night, visiting with the locals, listening to live music and drinking Tecates. I left the bar heading back to my hotel (and declined a few offers from the street walkers outside), hit the main street, and then - are you f&8$*#ing kidding
me?! I found myself stopped at a mandatory police checkpoint in the middle of the road. This time I was positive I was in trouble. I wasn't drunk, but as most of us know, most cops can tell if you've had even one or two beers and this checkpoint was obviously designed for this very
purpose. The officer asked me if I have been drinking. "Well, yeah", I thought, "I'm in Mexico with hot Latinas, aren't I?" Thank goodness my brain was still capable of controlling my mouth, as I said "No, no cervezas para mi." Then the cop asked me if I had any drugs or weapons, and finally if I had had any whiskey. Not sure why he chose the word 'whiskey', but the word and the way he said it made me laugh and I said "No, no whiskey." while chuckling. I guess this answer and/or the delivery of the answer convinced him I was alright and he let me go. I headed back to my
hotel hardly believing my good fortune, and then I went to sleep looking forward to tomorrow, my first Saturday in Hermosillo.
Epilogue:
Was I stupid for drinking and driving? Absolutely, especially in an unknown Mexican city. However, given the number of interactions I had with the police in one day and the fact that I emerged unscathed, I'd classify Hermosillo as a pretty safe town for a Gringo. No shakedowns, no tickets and no bribes necessary. Also, I never once had a problem with any of the locals.
My favorite massage place was Rubi's Masajes near the Holiday Inn. I actually took two of the hottest girls there (Yadira and Lluvia - their
real names, Ibana and Lilliana - their artistic names) on a date on Saturday night after they got off work at 7PM. We had a blast, though I desperately wanted Lluvia, and Yadira wanted me, so the sex angle wasn't in my favor. Sadly too :^( , as Lluvia is ridiculously HHOOTT and very much my type. She told me she only does massage and does not do P4P. I verified this later, so even more sadness. Sniff.
I absolutely recommend Hermosillo as a mongering destination. I stopped going because I dated a stripper there for about six weeks (truly dating - think trips to the beach at Bahia del Kino every
weekend with her daughter, dinners, dancing, free sex, etc.) and it turned ugly. The other girls working in the same club were jealous at the amount of time and money I spent with/on her, and they eventually convinced her I was working them for sex as well, which was a flat out lie, but whatever. I just couldn't bring myself to continue going to Hermosillo after that. It worked out for me because I shifted my focus to Mexicali, which is MUCH better than Hermosillo for the type of mongering I prefer, and closer for me too! Ironically, in Rocky Point I met up with another girl I was tight with in Hermosillo, and
she and I have been seeing a LOT of each other in Rocky Point. Go figure. I may have to re-visit Hermosillo in the near future as she is no longer working in RP.
All in all, I really like Hermosillo. It is the most 'normal' town I've ever visited in Mexico. Not a border town crawling with Gringos and low-lifes, not a tourist trap again crawling with Gringos and with abject poverty just beyond the last beautiful resort, but a very 'normal' town
with 'normal', educated (mostly) Mexicanas. YMMV, as they say, but give it a try!
Regarding getting stopped by the local cops after drinking.
There is a new scam in Hermosillo. This was not happening a couple of years ago but it is happening on regular basis to me on almost every trip.
If you are driving around at night and these local cops see you and especially see your US plates you are considered a soft mark. On one occassion about a year ago I went to Placers and had exactly two beers.
As I was driving to my hotel these assholes pulled me over and asked if I had been drinking beer. Of course, they spoke NO ENGLISH and I speak limited Spanish so that made the exchange interesting.
I told them that yes I had drank TWO beers only and that I was not drunk. They told me that it was an "INFRACTION", that I would have to pay a big fine. They were obviously looking for the 'MORDIDA" (bribe).
If I was drunk, I would have had no problem giving up a few pesos, or even 50, but since I was sober these assholes pissed me off! I told them that I want to speak with el jefe (the chief). They asked me to follow them to the station where I was "examined" and given a breath-a-lizer test by a so called "Doctor". Of course, I passed and was out of the place after receiving a long lecture in Spanish about drinking and driving from "El Jefe". It took about an hour of my time but I did not pay the mordida. The assholes that pulled me over were standing outside the station as I got into my truck to drive away and I just laughed at them!!
Another incident similar to the above occurred about a week ago. I was very tired and didn't want to waste anytime going to the fucking station. The assholes told me I could pay the fine right there in the street and said it would be a HUNDRED DOLLARS! LOL! I gave them $100 pesos and was on my way.
These fucking shake down stops are starting to piss me off and I think $100 pesos is too much.
Not sure what I will do with the next bogus stop.
I will let you know.
Any one else have any recent experiences? I would appreciate any tips you guys have on dealing with these parasites. I guess you could say the putas are parasites too but at least I get some pussy from them in the bargain!
I could just take taxis at night but I refuse to pay those assholes either if I have my own wheels....which I always do.
Fueggoel,
If you read this, let me know if you ever want to ride with me or if you want to meet up in Hermosillo for a drink.
Happened to me again last Sunday night! I had drank only one beer (honestly) and was leaving Placer's club on the north side of Hermosillo.
I turned north onto Reforma and was heading to another club called La Barra. I nearly missed my turn onto Lazaro Cardenes, which angles off to the northwest, but at the last second turned sharply.
It was a quick manuever but not one that I would call illegal. I did not cut anyone off with my turn.
I was, however, enough to catch the attention of a cop that was evidently watching me leave Placers. He gave me the usual questions about "Have you been drinking?" "How much did you drink?". I told him that I was not drunk and that I drank only one beer that night. The cop said that I would have to go to the station to be examined by a "Doctor" or I could pay $500 pesos right now!
One of my local friends was with me and argued on my behalf with the cop. He said that I could not pay that much. That I was not rich and that I really had drank only one beer.
It was no use. This was one stubborn cop! He insisted on $500 pesos which is way too much mordida for these guys. I told him I was willing to give him $100 pesos but no more. He refused my offer and said he would have to drive my truck to the station (since I did not know the city that well).
I rode in the passenger seat with him all the way to the station. He kept insisting on $500 pesos. He wouldn't budge and I wouldn't budge.
I blew into the breathalizer at the station and registered 0.053 and they let me go. I lost a total of about 1 hour of pussy chasing time but saved myself fifty bucks-- which I later spent on pussy!
The only moral of this story that I can come up with is this: If you are driving the streets of Hermosillo at night, when the TD bars are open, do one of two things. Either ask one of your Mexican friends to drive or drive extremely careful. Stay within the speed limit and do not make any questionable manuevers at all. If you do anything at all that the cops may consider an "infraction" be prepared to go to the station with them or pay them a huge amount of money.
>>>be prepared to go to the station with them or pay them a huge amount of money
If you consider $50 (US) to be a "huge amount of money" - pray you never go out drinking before driving in Arizona. I was just readin in the New Times where some Mesa cop arrested a designated driver (who had not had a drop of alcohol) on DUI charges!
If you're going drinking, why not save yourself the Mexicop shakedown hassles and just take a taxi to the bar? I'd think taxis in Hermosillo would be pretty cheap?
Thanks for your comment. For awhile I was thinking I was the only guy clicking on this link.
To answer your questions. Yes, I do think $50 is a lot of money to pay in Mexico. Especially, if I didn't have the pleasure of even getting a buzz! I would like to hear what the out come is for the guy that got arrested for driving sober in Mesa.
Regarding taxis. I love driving my own vehicle around in Mexico but, in the future, I may consider a taxi in Hermosillo if I don't ask a Mexican friend to drive. I am not sure what they are charging now but a about 3-4 years ago they were charging $5 just to go around the corner. I always consider haggling with them as a hassle. I try to save my money and energy for the chicas and hate to give it to the cops or taxi drivers.
My purpose of sharing my frustrating experience with the cops and their mordida game was to warn other members of the current situation in Hermosllo. I am curious about the experiences of others in Hermosillo or other places in Mexico.
Brew,
Did you report the bribe attempt to the cop's boss? It may not have gone anywhere, but you would have the satisfaction of possibly stopping this sort of stunt in the future.
Regarding driving your own vehicle, I, too, like the freedom of driving myself. However, it does put a big bullseye on my back. Having lived in Mexico for three years now, I can attest that I have been pulled over more during that span (probably upwards of 2 dozen times) than most Mexicans I know have been pulled over in their life. I call it DWG (Driving While Gringo.) Fortunately, I have only be forced to pay one mordida (in MTY) as I usually tell the cop who asks that I will pay the fine right now, but only if I get an official receipt listing his name and identification number. Usually that's enough to get them to think twice. To be fair, I've only been asked twice to pay so it's not been that big of an issue for me.

Brewmeisterbro, I appreciate your report - very usable info as I may well find myself in Hermosillo with wheels at some time in the not too distant future. I have dealt with the cops numerous times in TJ, but never would have thought that a visit to Hermosillo would result in the kind of bullshit that we face on the border in TJ.
However IMO, 1 centavo is too much to pay for a mordida when you've done nothing wrong - it only perpetuates the corruption...it is the ONLY thing that perpetuates the corruption. I'm a strong believer in enduring the inconveniences that come with not caving in and feeding into the system when you've done nothing wrong and aren't facing a credible threat to your health and safety.
It's a good life and so many good times to come, so let's fight against crooked cops when we must.
Thanks gents for your comments and advice.
To El apodo: When my Spanish skills improve, I will certainly attempt to fuck with these assholes as much as they fuck with me!! I would like to have reported him but was not sure what to say to El Jefe.
To Erip: I definitely plan to fight the mordida game the best I can in the future. You and I seem to think alike. Let me know if you ever want to ride along with me to Hermosillo. I usually go once a month, minimum.
Just thought I would update everyone on my current situation in Hermosillo, Sonora. I have friends in the local area that often provide me with tips and introduce me to new girls. I now have regular "girlfriends" that I call when I visit. I have a little black book that is pretty full of numbers. I am not inclined to share this little black book online.
I am driving down to Hermosillo next week to see my friends. I make a trip to the beach. I usually go at least once a month.
I don't just go for the pussy. I enjoy spending time with my friends. I love the food. I love all the street vendors with Cabeza tacos in the morning and Sonoran style hot dogs at night. I often think Hermosillo has better restaurants than Tucson. I go to the local Costco and stock up on items not available here in Tucson. I always enjoy the fresh seafood at very reasonable prices.
The weather in Hermosillo is hot as hell at this time of year but I go anyway and just grin and bear it. I remind myself that I am not going for the weather and just spend as much time as I can in air conditioned hotels and restaurants.
A few years ago I frequented the TD clubs and MP's there. Now, I don't need them to find pussy.
I usually give my "girlfriends" an average of about $50 USD and often bring them gifts from this side of border. They are always appreciative and usually spend the night with me, go out to dinner, breakfast, whatever.
They sometimes go to the beach with me.
None of these girls speak any English. At least a working knowledge of Spanish (which I have) is necessary.
Just returned from Hermosillo late last night. It seems there have been some changes there regarding improvements with the region's unstable economic structure. The city appears to be more crowded these days, lots of newer expensive vehicles, as opposed to the usual beaten up older cars.
Many beautiful women all over the city, quite a few nice looking hookers in the usual locations like before, but unfortunately was unable to go on a mongering excursion, due to this being a family vacation.
due to this being a family vacation.
Don't worry CFK, I just got off the phone yesterday with an old trip buddy who's a true veteran of the TJ scene (just like yours truly) and have begged him to accompany me on a mongering trip to greener pastures further inland to possibly Hermosillo, where the pickings are better, as in total GFE and the women are a little heavier and more to ones liking.
I think a future mongering excursion back to Hermosillo is in the works where I can leave the family at home.
One thing I noticed upon my return to Hermosillo, is that there appeared to be many old vacant boarded up colonial-type houses and the remains of abandoned skeletal buildings. One would assume this was a result of the 2008 economic slump. But that's not the case. It's always been that way in Mexico. It's the same everywhere in Sonora, except maybe in Jalisco or Mexico City.
I first discovered Hermosillo in 2002. I saw huge old boarded up and fenced off old colonial houses all over the city that were left abandoned for years, maybe for decades. I have inquired into the property ownership of some, but with little positive results. Each time I've gone back, I still see the same old boarded up colonial houses which are still abandoned. I even took some photos, more out of fascination and curiosity.
MB, wonder what 'failure' caused the exodus of the owners to merely board them up and leave. Did the pussy dry up or California beckoned?
Who knows CFK, who knows? These old colonial houses have been boarded up and abandoned for years. Some are very close to a strip joint in Hermosillo called Lord Black. BTW, lots of pussy in Hermosillo. Quite a few working chicas standing in doorways.
MB. Even though I rarely post here anymore, I still make monthly trips to Hermosillo. I still have friends there and have a few phone numbers of local girls that I connect with during my two night trips. If these girls have FB or Wassup, I often contact them that way.
These are usually GFE. I rarely go to the TD clubs . I got burned by a dancer from La Habana recently. I got the phone number of a hot dancer there. On my next trip, I sent her text and she showed up at my No Tell-Motel.
Before she would even take off her clothes, she insisted on some money up front. Like a fool, I gave her about $1000 pesos. Soon after, she made a phone call on her cell, a friend picked her up from the motel and she took off. I never got a sniff! This rarely happens to me and I am embarrassed to even tell you about it but I wanted to warn everyone about this TD club.
I have not visited any MP's in many months. But they are still around. A friend gave me the business card for a new one and I may try it sometime. In the past, I have gotten some cell numbers of real hotties from MP's in Hermosillo.
Usually, I just spend the night with regular girls that I have been introduced to. I am fortunate to have friends that connect me with local girls. One of my favorites is a young mamacita that works in one of the maquiladoras there. I have known her for years now. Her name is Priscila and I posted some photos of her on CH years ago.
Priscila recently moved back to Hermosillo from Nogales. I plan to call her up on my next visit. A truly sweet girl that likes to fuck for money because she is a single Mom. I have the best luck with all the single mamacitas in Mexico. Believe me, there are lots of them!
I have multiple reasons for preferring Hermosillo over Nogales or other locations. Most importantly, it is far enough from the border that the prices on everything are lower. Pussy, motels, restaurants, basically everything is much cheaper than Nogales. Yet, it is a big enough city that all of the those things are high quality. I also like Ciudad Obregon. Some really hot women live there. But I have not found as nice No Tell Motels or restaurants in Obregon.
MB, if you ever want to meet me in Hermosillo, send me a message to my mailbox. I usually go on Mondays and Tuesdays. That works best with my work schedule and the No Tell Motels will let me stay in the jacuzzi suites TLN during the week. On weekends, they only rent for about 6 hours.
