South of Rosarito about 15 minutes on the toll road , at the La Mission exit. Great food, wild on weekends and holidays. Oh did I say Great Food .

I've heard this place is great. Is it before Puerto Nuevo or after?

Hi all !
Adelito, it is south of Puerto nuevo 5-7 miles. Just before the free road goes inland. I will be going there on the 14th of July for dinner. They also have a hotel, some rooms have walls faceing the ocean , the wall is made of glass and you still have total privicey. If you stay there ask for a room number in the 105-114 range.
There is also a hotel next door called La Mission, some rooms have jacuzzis in them. You would have no trouble with a chica at either place.Their food is "ok" but not as good as La Fondas.

wasn't to impressed with la fonda's food or atmosphere wise. found renee's to be a much better place for food and booze. no hotel though

Outside of the one lobster joint that I frequent in Puerto Nuevo, La Fonda is really the only other restaurant that I enjoy in this area. I usually stay at the Baja Mar (10 minutes south of La Fonda) and enjoy the relaxed dinner atmosphere. Great place to bring a woman and relax, dine and enjoy a cigar on the patio area.

EL ROYAL LA FONDA
This is not just another Mexican restaurant in Rosarito. La Fonda has been in the same location for about 50 years. I have been going there for about 25 years. Last summer a labor union dispute caused the owner, Dmytri, to close down and reopen about 200 feet north under the name of El Royal La Fonda. The new non-union waiters have a much better attitude and Dmytri makes sure that everyone enjoys themselves.
The atmosphere in the new location is very romantic with several fireplaces inside and a very large patio right above the ocean. The sunsets are spectacular.
The food is the best I have had in all of Mexico. Bring an appetite! All of the portions are large. The lobster feast is more than I can finish and once you have had this perfectly prepared lobster you will never go to Puerto Nuevo again! The prime rib melts in your mouth. The menu has a lot of variety and an early bird special. And the Sunday buffet can’t be missed.
There is also a hotel which has ocean front rooms with fireplaces and very reasonable rates starting at $75.00. You can call ahead for reservations 011 52 646 1550308.
To get there: Go south on the Ensenada toll road about 15 minutes past Rosarito (five or so minutes past Puerto Nuevo). Get off at the La Mission exit. Turn left on the frontage road and El Royal La Fonda will be on your right.
