Article in Arizona Daily Star, this morning, on the attempt to control prostitution in Nogales, Sonora. Just wondering if anybody else read the article?

The link was posted on the Chat Board this morning. Here were my comments and reply.

"But until the city confronts prostitution rather than pushing it to the side, prostitution will only grow, with more minors, more drug abuse and more violence against women, said a Nogales sociologist."

I always love how when articles like this come out they always focus on drugs and underage girls. Oh, look at how bad prostitution is. It is all underage girls. They are all addicted to drugs. They are all troubled soles being taken advantage of by the big bad Americans who go to Mexico for sex because if they get caught in America, they get their picture in the paper, they get their car taken away, and they get publicly shamed and ridiculed. This, coming from a country (please, I don't want to get into a debate about gun control. I am merely using it as an example) that allows any hick over 18 to go running around with semi-automatic weapons. But damnit, you are not allowed to enter into a mutual business transaction with another consenting adult. We’ll take your away and plaster your face in the paper for that shit!

So this Michael Marizco found one underage prostitute. How long did he have to look to find her? How many others were there? And that's exactly why you stay off the street and stick to the clubs.

I’ve got no problem with local authorities enforcing mandatory health and age checks. When I go monger, I monger looking for over 18 chicks. I have no desire to fuck a kid. But we all know Mexico is not the best place in the world for government action and organization. If America legalized prostitution, they could probably do it correctly. Germany and many other countries do it rather successfully and are quite good at it.

And then there are the quotes from the underage prostitute:

"I do like it. Why should I lie?" she said. The men who pick her up usually are Americans.

"They don't abuse me, but sometimes they want to do things to my body that I don't like," she said.

Ok, so some guys like anal sex and ask her to perform it. (It is indeed unfortunate, sad and wrong. But in my experience underage girls are few and far between in Nogales. Reporters go and seek them out because they make a good story. Any time you have prostitutes, you are going to have a few that are underage. They are the exception, not the norm.)

Then it talks about drugs? How many fucking Americans are addicted to drugs or have drug problems? America is the biggest consumer of illegal drugs in the world. Where is the front page expose on the drug problem and drug war in Tucson?

I just get a kick out of our morality at play here. The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Because of this article, hundreds of Tucsonans who probably never thought of Nogales as a place to get sex will now be searching for those "dozens of Internet sites provide pricing advice and precise directions to Nogales prostitution locales."

Which brings me to my next point. I wonder if Michael Marizco is a ClubHombre.com member? I doubt he actually spent the time to come here and do any research. He is probably not that good of a reporter. But "dozens of Internet sites?" Dozens? Mr. Marizco must be a lot more experienced on the Internet than me. And I have been working in the computer business or have been involved with the Internet in one way or another since 1993. Counting the strip clubs sites that barely provide any good information and the other sex travel sites; you would be hard pressed to find 10 sites total that provide any decent Nogales information with Club Hombre by far having the best and most organized information. Dozens. Shit. Well, expect a lot of newbies in the Nogales section the next couple of days I guess.

Good link. If that is the same Shantal she looks like hell. I did hear she was working the streets. In Nogales there really are not too many sg's. If you want them you just ask Alex or Gilberto and they will call them.

18 is a big number in the US - it usually denotes graduation from high school, a traditional US measure of adulthood. However, in Mexico, is 18 a milestone age? Not to sound to harsh but, please, I don't think this girl was skipping out on 6th period chemistry or something to go suck dick in Nogie. From what I've seen, it would seem to me that 16 is a much more "standard" milestone age for Mexico. How many 17 year old moms are there down there? How many 17 year olds work in factories, in stores and back on the farm?

A LOT, probably, and i feel really bad when you have a bunch of 15 year olds running around the clubs and streets of nogi, hustling for money Yeah, I know that there are some hotties out there,but that is way too young to be getting into the industry.. some of the famous dancers there started at 15, which is disturbing, to say the least.. Again, the culture is different in Mexico, most of the girls are working real jobs at 15-17 years old, have like two kids, etc..

They always have a reporter ask some street tout for "young girls". Like a street tout isn't going to promise you anything you ask for. Want a virgin, no problem. Want a donkey show, sure. Fuck his sister, he'll take you right to her. Genuine Catholic nun, sure, those street touts will promise you whatever you are looking for. It makes for a good sound bite anyway.
