Has anybody been to Boystown since the terrorist attacks? If so...

What was the border crossing like for cars and for peds each direction?

Did you see fewer mongers around than usual?

Did it look like chicas weren't bothering to show up?

Anything else to report?

--Thanks!

I visited NL the past October. I did not carry ID on purpose, however as a backup plan my passport was locked securely in car a few meter away from the Customs checkpoint.

I crossed on foot back into the US shortly after daylight (about 6am). I identified myself as a US Citizen and was asked by INS officer to produce ID. I explained that I did carry ID and that I in NL for about 8 hours. He awkwardly asked me (I am obviously from the US) to step into the INS office.

The agents there were confused by presence, and generally bothered by my interuption to their converstation. I explained that the officer directed me to their office.

Eventually one of the female agents asked me a standard line of questions as to my address, occupation, and purpose for leaving the country (for which I enjoyed explaining).

She stamped a small form which I took to the border officer. He basically apologized for the trouble and explained requirements were changed due to 11-Sep-01.

An interesting experiment that I wouldn't want to repeat when they are actually busy. I suggest that you bring your photo ID. A passport is a bit to precious to carry in NL unless of course you do not appear to be obviously of North American birth.

I just walked across, told them I was a US citizen and produced my Texas drivers license. Nothing to it. No way would I consider driving across, even before 9/11. Split the cab fare with some gringos.

Drove across right before Christmas. To Boystown. Took my G/F home about 4am shit faced and crossed the border with no problems other than a check under the hood of my SUV for wetbacks! Course, Anejo don;t impair my judgmental abilities like cerveza does! Just my opinion!
