Those of us that participated in the first MongerFest have decided to do it again. But being older, wiser, more sophisticated, but still not quite ready for polite company, we have entitled this year's get together Tertulia II. Tertulia is Spanish for a friendly get-together.
The weekend of 10/12 there will be about a dozen of us meeting up in BoysTown to swap lies and chase chicas. Most of the main participants from last year have agreed to make repeat appearances. We will meet up at Marabus between 9-11 on Friday 10/12 and at about the same time on Saturday 10/13. The Saturday night 10/13 gathering will be better attended, if you can only make it for one night.
We had a good time last year and several lurkers showed up to thank us for the advice. There is a thread with more info called "Secret Destinations" run by Wilco at:
http://www.ymmv.net/
That's an invite board so I will copy a few things over here for those that are interested. I corresponded with the Texans tonight and they all said:
Bring us Redongdo, or we're a comin to git em
I told em they didn't have that much beer in Texas, but they seemed to differ.
Later,
Gitano

Gitano:
Really looking forward to this trip. It's been over 3 months for me. Got this trip fairly well funded.
I will have my vehicle down there. You should not have to pay many cab fares to get around.
They like to charge gringos $5 or $10 flat.
A real ripoff.
I am sure the King will be there. He'll have his car also.
I have not made reservations yet. suppose I should do so since it's only 3 weeks away.
I wonder if the prices have come down some?
Maybe one of the new hotels is open which should give more supply of rooms and take down the price. It would be great if two or 3 of them would open and flood the market with rooms, and even less demand with less travel. The price would really drop. I also know the manufacturing and transportation/trucking sector has been in a big slump. There should be less business people down there also.
Enough for the economist stuff.
Again, can't wait for this trip to start.
Did you see that $121 airfare for DFW to San Diego? Maybe I need to make a visit to TJ soon?

Giano,
I hope to make it to BT that weekend and would be honored to meet and toss back a few with such a celebrated group. I'm just afraid the Maribu won't be big enough to hold all of yall's groupies, chicas, and fans if word really gets around. This could really turn into a crowd control problem for the crack Boystown Security Force. I guess we will just have to deal with it as best we can. Looking forward to it. Good times.

I have already made hotel reservations. E-mail me if you would like to discuss. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Dear Hunter,
The pleasure would be mine. Any idea what that Sunday morning border traffic looks like these days ?

Gitano,
I haven't been down since Labor Day. I was going back the first weekend in October but will put off going till the meeting. I will have my finances really built up that much better anyway. At one time there was a site that had several real time camera shots of the old bridge area. Reckon anyone remembers where it came from? Good times.

Bring us Redongdo!!! Hey all... Sorry I hav'nt posted here more often. Just wanted to mention that I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones at the Tertulia. BTW Dear Hunter, if we have too big a crowd for Marabu - well, that's not likely, but it would surely be a first for them. I never have understood why that place does'nt have more business.
By Dear_Hunter on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 11:15 am: Edit |
Wilco,
In the seventies the Maribu was on par with Papaguyos or even better. Man there was nothing better than sitting in one spot knowing every gal in the house would walk past you sooner or later. It is kind of sad to see it like it is now. But when my fave and I want to dance in BT that is where we go, it's never too crowded. By the way, does anyone else think the scene behind the bar is kinda wild? Good times.
Dear Hunter
By Rodetrip on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 12:23 pm: Edit |
Dear Hunter:
Marabu would make a great place for a Disco movie, add in the Saturday Night fever dance floor. I especially like the way the plaster looks like it's dripping off the ceiling.
The scenery behind the bar looks like some kind of lunar scape. (if I remember correctly).
Peace.
Hope I did not upset you too much with my post about dining and the Santa Maria. It was not done with bad intentions. I think I touched a nerve there, sorry. We can buy each other a beer and forget it.
Odd thing about this upcoming trip, many of us will recognize each other from previous trips over the years. That's for sure. Were you at the first MF 1 ??

By Wilco on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 02:03 pm: Edit |
Man, I love Marabu.... As Rodetrip put it, the 'lunar landscape' behind the bar is a trip. The combination of desolation and high class (for a BT bar that is) makes for a surreal experience. I really like the court yard. Enter a door from the dusty, pitiful road into a surprisingly lush landscape. For the life of me I don't see how they keep up appearances given the business. It reminds me of a David Lynch movie - Blue Velvet, perhaps...

Wilco, Rodetrip
My take on Marabu is that most of the girls who
work there, also rent rooms long term. I think this is how the place stays aflot. Not that real estate values are high in BT. Witness the number of abandoned clubs opposite Maraabu along the wall. Even though these girls live full time in the rooms, they still try to hit you up for a room charge. The street on the opposite side of marabu would make a good location for the next mexican/border/stripper/hooker/vampire movie.
I also saw an incredibly violent chica vs chica cat fight occur right at the "moon bar". All in all this place is wierd but worth a look.
By Wilco on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 12:13 pm: Edit |
It's definitely weird, Perojo... This place is head-and-shoulders above Papagayos (or anywhere else in BT), ambiance wise... I imagine there are some behind the scenes shinanigans afoot, no? Perversly (and if so), that leaves us a great place to relive the original - and restage Tertulia II... Gonna be there, amigo?

Sorry about the test guys, this is my first posting in a private and I didn't want to type away and not have the message get posted.
I am there Sat. night, coaching LL football Sat. am and can't miss the game, so will leave Houston area around 1pm Sat.
Looking forward to seeing you guys I remember Rodetrip (Patty, oh yes), DR. Good, The King of the all nighters and of course Bushpilot or Gitano as he is now called from the first meeting.
I think Marabu is the best place to meet, hell they probably haven't had that many gringos in there at one time since the last meeting, and I agree with everybody else, it is a nice place.
I am staying on the US side, will try to make it to Marabu by 9pm.
Wilco, why not make a posting on ymmv, trying to see if some of the guys want to car pool? Just a thought...
Looking forward to seeing you guys and the chicas next weekend.....y'all take care....

Dear John:
Patty......She may be working in your Houston area. Keep an eye open for her at the topless bars. Other girls said she was now married to a much older gringo (just a front) and working in topless bars in Houston.
I don't go to Houston and will not go on a search for her. If you see her tell her I said hi and it's time she goes back to Mexico to have some fun.

Wish I could join you guys but can't... meanwhile, fwiw, I was down there a few days ago on a weekday night at 8:00pm, and there were NO pedestrian lines in either direction on Bridge #1. Likewise empty at 1:30 am, of course. Also, VERY little visible evidence of heightened security.

It might be tough, Friend... Those who will be there Fri night should be at Marabu 10-12ish. If you can slip away Sat eve, that will be when most everyone will be there - saame place, same time.

It is with deep regret that I must say that I will be unable to attend the Monger Fest (OK, I sort of forgot to announce that I was planning to attend). All was set up (including an early afternoon departure for Friday night get together) when a stealth work related event came up. I'll try to make it down from the Houston area before the next get together, and I will re-double my efforts to meet fellow hobbyists next time.

Anyone going to Tertulia II from Austin area?
Ideas on the most best way to get there and back?
Greyhound can be fair or shitty depending on the crowd.
Driving's a bitch, and you can't get work done in transit.
No reasonably-priced airfare that I can find.

A bit slow last night. Tonight should be better with the arrival of the Houston crowd. Redongdo is MIA at this point. Red if you see this and get here have a taxi take you to Marabus in BT at 10 or so tonight.

A better time on Saturday. American Airlines discovers that they had misfiled Redongdo and he appears thru a mist in BoysTown, either that or he was spitting up beer. I will leave the illustrious gentelman's comparative comments to himeself on his return, unless he suffers a monstrous black out, in which case I will repeat all.

Did anyone venture forward with anyone from 123?
I was exceedingly impressed with what we saw while there and I want to know what the deal is.
By Rodetrip on Monday, October 15, 2001 - 09:42 am: Edit |
Okay, looks like none of us are posting details. That's okay. I am sure we will:
Here's a few comments:
Enjoyed meeting the new folks and seeing old friends. Certainly hope NL has left good impressions on Red and Friend.
Friday night I was with Stacey as most of you know (the gal we saw after our excursion into 123). Certainly helps my reputation. She could be an easy replacement for Paty.
Second night I met possibly the most interesting gal ever down there (no not the one with the husky voice). Hooked up with gal (don't care to share the name right now for personal reasons) from Sinaloa State, some little town named Hidalgo Valle de Leon which is not on any map I can find. Average to better looks, not a trophy but very accomodating and a good talker. Great English. Only works one or two months a year then returns to a Ranch she owns. I plan to see more of her.
The "husky voice gal": I could not get past the voice guys. She had what must be the best body down there (atleast with clothes on). That voice just scared the hell out of me. Could not get it out of my mind. It was even scarier that she spoke in English only with me and spent 7 years in Houston. No adams apple, but had broad shoulders and muscular arms. I still think she may have been a man at one time. Maybe if I get really wild will I check it out. If I had not talked to her I would agree with Dear John and Friend, no way was she ever a man. BUT plastic surgeons are damn good these days.
Hope everyone got home safely and quickly.
How were the downtown bridges? (1 & 2).
I was watching the bridgecams from the Mexican side on the cable in the hotel before we left, decided to make a run for bridge #4 30 miles upriver. I think it saved us an hour or two.
I estimated bridge #2 was going to take 2 to 3 hours for sure (driving a car that is).
Bridge #3 is not open to anything but Trucks now.
Bridge #4 had no line whatsoever. Not much of a hassle from the INS guards either. It's a privately owned toll road (not state owned) from the bridge to hookup with I-35 some 30 miles into Texas. Only saw 3 cars and 1 truck going towards Mexico in that 25 minutes. Would not be surprised if they shut it down for lack of business some day.
I am going back one of the next two weekends, gotta see that Sinaloa gal before she leaves again. Promised me her address if I come back. I suppose she wants to see how much I am into her. Lives within a few hours of Mazatlan, might be nice for a getaway trip to visit her if she allows it.
By Gitano on Monday, October 15, 2001 - 01:31 pm: Edit |
I walked over Bridge 1 at 9:00 AM Sunday morning. There was no ped line and the car line was minimal. I doubt it took more than 10 minutes to cross by either method.
Migracion was agressive. After seeing my out of state driver's license they talked to me for about 5 minutes trying to see if my story changed in any way. When did you get here ? etc. etc.
The security at Laredo airport was also agressive. They were making everybody take their shoes off and looking inside of them. Tough duty.
Glad to hear you found a girl you liked RT. Btw your other friend Stacey is cute. I would guess that those water wings are store bought.
I had a good time. Nice seeing everybody.
Friend - I would guess that the girls at 1-2-3 are a little expensive based upon the strip club format. Red, Wilco, and I stopped in a place called Shamrocks across the street from Papaguyos and they had some nice looking girls. Maybe wilco could give a further review of same.
By Wilco on Monday, October 15, 2001 - 01:41 pm: Edit |
Yes, I suspect the particulars will get out. I plan on writing a trip report, but till then... On the way from 123 - which was cool - and after losing rodetrip to a couple verrrry fine chicas just outside, Gitano and I accepted Redogndos' challenge to hit Shamrock whilst others went to Papagayos. I was much unimpressed with 'the Californicators' suggestion at first. Alas, and in the end, mi amigos left with out me as my opinion had changed in a most positive manner. Chalk one up for Reongdo.

Here is a quick version of my night of love at the fest. First of all it was good seeing some of you guys again, good to meet you new guys for the first time. I missed Dr. Good, hoped he would have made it and also missed some of my buddies from Houston I begged to go, Player and M Dublin.
We all hung out for around an hour then hit Casino 1-2-3, Obwan and his buddies wanted to hit it. I hate the fact that they give you open drinks, I hate that. Casino 1-2-3 had some outstanding chicas dancing. Best I had ever seen in there. I will hit later on my take on 1-2-3.
Before all you hard dicks hit Mexico, I decided to hit the border around 7:30 as I had an idea. I desired to see the famous Ruth at Tamyko, but was not sure if she was there as she is a day girl. She was there and $60 later, one full hour, two shots, wonderful shower together and I walk out with one giant shit eating grin. She may be the horniest lady I have ever been with, bar none. She loves her job and if you don't believe me, check her out in redsnakes.com latina girl section under Tamykos. One horny lady. After we all left the 1-2-3 I ended up with Friend and Roadey. Rodey introduced me to an outstanding chica with some large man made hooters at Tamyko. She had an awesome body, however since I had already had Ruth for two shots I wasn't quite ready to play again. Plus I wanted somebody that looked innocent and new to boystown. This woman was not innocent looking. Her name was Stacey I think. Roadey always ends up with knockout chicas, unless they have a deep voice...LOL. Me, Roadey, and Friend ended up at Papaguyos all looking to play. Friends pants were already wet with anticaption, no, not that, I spilled coke on dudes lap. SORRY AGAIN BRO.
Things were really slow at Papa's and not many chicas were being taken to room. Even the awesome Bikini girls (Monica, the Amazon, and another) weren't doing business. I was looking for a DD cup with a decent waist and finally found her. Her name was Laura and I asked her how much to room, she told me $40. $40????? Well hell yes. She was damn good, a pure GFE, deep french kissing and a body to die for. Large DD tits, on about a 26 inch waist, large brown nipples like small erasers. After we played I gave her another $20 and I did not regret it, as she was worth it. I felt she was way underpriced at $40 anyway.
Couple of things, no. 1, since things were slow at Papa's both Friend and I were thinking about going over to 1-2-3 and seeing what the drill was taking one of the dancers to room. no. 2, Marabu had a pretty big crowd, not many great chicas. no. 3, we could not get any rookies to Western.
Well bros, that is a quick version of the weekend.

Glad everyone had a good time and I'm sorry that I missed the reunion (AGAIN) while I was stranded at work. And that after I arranged for Friday afternoon off for the drive down from Houston area, then Saturday work reared its ugly head with only two day's warning.
Oh well, guess I'll have to make a solo trip in the next weekend or so.

Gents (and I'm using the term loosely, ever see these guys?),
Muchos Gracias for the invite to Tertulia II, Nuevo Laredo is definitly the shit...especially Boystown and you guys are luckier than shit to have it.
The only disappointment was only one of you guys, Friend, wore a cowboy hat and he's not even from Texas!
Wilco, no thanks necessary regarding the Shamrock Club, I was more than happy to show you guys where the good clubs were...hey wait a minute weren't you supposed to do that for me? HAH!
I'm working on a complete Trip Report, I feel like I packed six months worth of experiences into one weekend, hopefully I'll get it done soon.
Once again a Gracias Muy Grande to all the Tejas guys and especially to mi amigo Gitano for riding my ass until I gave in and had to check it out.
THANKS!

I'm used to being solicited for Doctor's and pharmacy visits once I cross the border... Yeah, yeah yeah.... 'Get them rhopies, vicodin and viagra'... What I did'nt expect was the new spin of 'antidote to anthrax - senor'. Sheeesss... Talk about your unexpected range of emotions. In the end, I took it as a good natured, if not unopportunistic jab and grabbed a taxi at the park..
As far as bordertowns go, NL has always been amongst the safest (if not the most so) in Mexico. Actually I do not recall a time where things seemed more friendly. It appeared that the 9/11 trajedy was a uniting call, even for those in Mexico. I saw more than a few cars sporting US flags - somthing that would ordinarily be offensive.
I got to Marabu before the others, and yup, same old Marabu... Beautiful courtyard, lunar land-scapes, dead as a door-knob. Thankfuly, soon after, Dear John showed up and we caught up on things... After telling me about his visit with Ruth earlier that evening, we began to wonder if we would be the only two to show... About that time, Friend from Clubhombre pulled up a chair. Friend is a really nice guy. Very enthusiastic indeed
Next, Obwun shows up with two of his amigos and we have the makings of a good party. Actually, just hanging with Obwun is always the makings of a good party.
Wait - it's Rodetrip and those long distance travellers, Gitano and Redongdo. Hot Damn, the super-stars are out
After a while of mingling and trading lies, Obwun made the command decision that it was time to bale for 123. One does'nt hear much about club 123 (I heard that 123 is the numbered code that permits prostitution in Mexico - I dunno). It's a little like a US style strip club, which I assume also allows on the premises daliances in back rooms... Surely that occurs, but damned if I can confirm it, or what the prices might be. Anyway, some very hot chicas there, but everyone seemed eager to hit Papagayos - or wherever - so off we went...
In route, the ever popular Rodetrip was accosted by a couple lovely friends of his. They were terribly disconcerting, but Redogndo wanted to be an explorer. Where does this Californicator get off anyway? LMAO! Seems he espied some beauties at Shamrock (of all places) and insisted Gitano and I join him in his explorations....
Man, I thought Shamrock sucked pretty hard - at first... Then things changed dramitcally for the better, and damned if Redongdo and Gitano did'nt leave me with a chica on my knee. THOSE BASTARDS!!!
It was quite a while later till I emerged from Shamrock, so made for the border and my hotel.
What a great trip. I had forgotten how much I liked NL - Guess I really am a travel snob... It was so good seeing old friends and making new ones. We missed ya Doctorgood. I still have the gold coin, if not the rubber ducky

Hippie,
But it's more exotic in a distant land!
