Let's start a thread reviewing all the hotels in Juarez and let's start rating them according to our experiences. Sort of a Mobil Travel Guide for the monger.
My favorita, The Villa Manport on Panama and Escobar. A %$.00 cab ride from the zona. Garden Patio in back with pool. Clean rooms, friendly staff. No problem with ladies coming in. Restaurant on premises although times or flexible. Bar on premises also with 1 or 2 lsdies the. Management is great. Room rate is $330.00NL or about $36.00US. A/C, phones, cable TV. Right across the street is Serena's massage. Out the door and to the right is the El Encantra massage. RATE B
You are right, that is a nice place to stay. However I prefer the Le Baron or the Casa Balanca in Waterfill. It is required to drive there. I would not recommend a taxi Because your hotel money will go to the cabbie. These two places are Drive in type hotels, you pull up into the garage and there you are in the room. Some rooms have jacuzzis and I am unable to provide a price as it seems it constantly fluctuates. But I will give you a range I have paid between the two for the different types of rooms.
The least I paid was 17.00 for the single and 35.00 for a room with the jacuzzi.
New ones, thanks! Probably going to be needing motels again soon. Another good one is out on Triunfio Republica/16 de Septembre where the big globe is called the La Siesta. $25-$55.00 for drive up rooms depending on size and amenities. Jacuzzi suites, mirrored walls. Security at the puerta. Safe and secure and private!
Borderjumper;
Stayed 2 nights at Villa manport and i recomend it. access to rutas for downtown, and safes available at front desk. No need to worry about rates (cab or no cab) as its posted on sign and banner outside. Don't recomend bus if you have a lot of luggage, instead cross at the lesser used bridge two blocks to the east, and get one of the no english cab drivers to take you to esquina panama y escobar. Pay $5 tops.
Couldn't figure out the ladies bar at villa manport however, seemed kind of comatose. Do they go up to the room with guests or what?
My other nights, i stayed in downtown el paso at the Travel lodge. Talked them down to 45, for a beutiful room with a little balconey. In room safe, lots of tv channels, affordable room service. Its only a 15 minute walk to the border and on the nights i came back, the american cabs at the crossing would deliver me for $5. There are 2 chinese and 1 italian buffets nearby which cost less then $6 all you can eat. Internet is available a block away at the youth hostel.
When following up with phone numbers for dinner dates etc., I simply had them meet me at kentucky club (good resturant next door). If we needed a cama, there are all kinds of places between Pink lady and the cathedral for $2 an hour or less then $10 a night.
Also recommend sunday brunch at the Hilton downtown el paso. Unbelievable spread, you won't have to eat for 2 days.
Best place to recharge is sports book downtown juarez. $3 comida is good, and the buckets of little beers are a good deal.
Yeah, from January 2001 until May 15, 2001, stayed at the VM forover 50 nights including my wedding night. Got to know the staff pretty well. Since a divorce seems to be in the works,I'll probably return until I find an apartment. The bar downstairs is hit and miss. You're right, comatose even on the weekends. I've been in there a few times when there have been a couple of single ladies there that appeared to be available. I don't believe there would be a problem taking anybody to your room. I never did. I don't worry about the cabs anymore in Juarez as I have my own transportation and have never had the balls to try the rutas. My wife loves the damn things though. She prefers them to riding in our SUV! Go figure!

I agree, the drive-in hotels are the most convenient. I don't remember the name of the one beside the night club Bandeleros, but it is a great place to stay. Easy access to the nightclub (lots & lots of beautiful women) and you can walk over to it from the hotel.
Saturday, while walking down Juarez Av. I noticed the Del Rio hotel has been renovated. I stopped in the bar downstairs and it look great by Juarez standards. Has an Egyptian theme. I asked to bar-tender to show me a room. They looked clean and comfortable. He said you can get drinks in your room all night long & bringing in girls isn't a problem. He said the nightclub will be catering to the 30+ age group - not the typical teenage crowd that frequents that area. The rooms are $28 per night. This may seem steep, but the location is very convenient for a bridge walkover. The hotel is about a block up (going south) from the Yankee club.
Yeah Fallon, I noticed this place coming back out of Juarez Saturday night myself. I'll check it out when I get home next week. $28.00 isn't bad though as most of the decent hotels are running in the $35-45 range right now.

I can also recommend the Villa Manport, but there is no action to speak of in the bar. I spent almost every Friday and Saturday night in that bar for a solid year because I liked the company of the bartender, Elva. She was my first real friend in Mexico. It was a great way to unwind after mongering in the day time, but certainly not a place to find girls.
The hotel has the advantage of having Serina's Mesaje across the street and El Encanto Mesaje half a block away next to Papaguyo's bar. It's also a $5 cab ride to Felina's Mesaje at Borunda and Peru or Corpus Mesaje one block east on Peru. In fact you can get to both with a brick twenty minute walk. Also a $5 cab ride or brisk walk to Mesaje Venus on Abraham Lincoln which lies in the opposite direction on Hermanos Esobar.
Or you can hop on the bus and be to the whore bars downtown in ten minutes and ride back on the same bus, the "Circunvalacion". It stops within a ten minute walk to the whore bars...
All in all it's a great place.
If I had not gotten an apartment I would still be staying there.

Oops! Walked by the Del Rio this afternoon. It's not a block up from the Yankee bar. It is actually right beside the Yankee bar (next door down).
Also, stopped at the first resturant (didn't catch the name) heading down Juarez Ave. from 16 of Septiembre (on right-hand side) Had a Huge plate of tacos de sirloin for $4.00. This came with a baked potato and beans. This resturant is right beside a bank. It has an ad up about a burrito special & they are looking for help. Made for a great meal watching all the beautiful young chicas coming in to apply for the job. It was hard to not stare at them so as not to offend my chica friend who I had taken to lucnch. I'll give the correct name when I find out what it is.
Good eats, check it out!
I was thinking of a nice relaxing time in Juarez or Nogales. I am looking for a clean relaxing hotel to experience some good ole Mexico living. I want a nice clean hotel, but still somewhat close to some action. I am thinking of a 3-4 night stay. Any suggestions?
I see good comments on Villa Manport and the Del Rio.
Anyone have any recent suggestions or comments?

I'm personally a big fan of the Villa Manport. It's not "close to the action" if you mean the whore bars, but it does have the two massage parlours and others closeby. Any hotel near the whore bars, being in el centro, would be some place I would have a hard time not imagining eyes behind the mirrors, although it would probably be fine, tell you the truth.
I just strongly dislike el centro in Juarez, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt if you like it there. It's just that after living there two years, I think of the city as a warm place, but everything about el centro is the opposite. You can get $20 pussy on the streets down there, and a number of the girls are really cute. But everytime I think about having to be there and possibly deal with the corrupt cops in the red light district---or getting some girl with drugs in my car---I take a pass and go to an MP.
If "clean and relaxing" is the top criteria, I do not see how you can beat the VM. If a hotel downtown is more important, someone else can probably recommend something for you.

Just one more comment: It's been mentioned here before, but a lot of cab drivers might hear the word "Manport" and take you to the wrong place. The same man owns one or two other hotels in Juarez, and at least one of them has a similar name, the Hotel Manport in el centro. If you want to check out the place we are talking about it's the Villa Manport at Avenida Hermanos Escobar and Calle Panama. The one downtown is a dive by comparison.
I even have some pictures of the VM I could send you if you want to see what the rooms look like.

Thanks...Hopefully I can navigate to it. Can you send
the pics to my clubhombre address?
By Dreamingeagle on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 - 08:22 pm: Edit |
I could if you will tell me exactly how to do that, yes. i've heard about this feature but don't see any links or anything in your profile that enables me to send pics.

Or just send me an email at elk_dreamer@hotmail.com, and I will reply with the pics.
Does the Villa Manport accept credit cards?
Yes, and I should have mentioned that on my web site. I have been there a couple of times when the chingadera machine would not work and had to pay cash, but that's rare.
