I am going to Mexico for 8 days in May. We will fly in to Mexico city and take a bus to Acapulco and back. The plan is that we will spend two nights in Mexico city. Where would be a good place to stay that is reasonable and close to the bus station, airport, and nightlife. I realize that this might be asking for something that doesn't exist. Also, how long is the bus ride to ACA? Cost? How often do they run? Thanks.

There are now busses departing from the very airport. Ask before taking a taxi to the bus station. there's the "new" toll road to Aca,
so the trip should be 3 hours aprox.
I stayed at the Marriott on my way back through in Jan., the hotel connects with the airport, but I called a sweetie to come out and see me.
The Marriott was not girl friendly, but fooled security by first taking her to the restaurant then up the back elevator.

Hope its not to late to add my two cents.

You can stay at the Marriot it is right at the airport. But if you are going to be there two nights, I reccomend that you stay somewhere around the Zona Rosa. It is only a $12 cab ride from the airport and an $8 cab ride to the Bus Station.

It is in an area with a high concentration of night clubs and bars. There are alot of strip clubs there. There is some street action. There is a high potential for amateur action if you speak Spanish.

I can give you specific hotel recomendations if you are interested. I have a favorite Hotel in a good location close in and under $75.00 a night and they are pretty indifferent to chicas going to your room.

Buses to Acapulco leave just about every hour. Diamante is a good line. I think it was 420 pesos last time I went. Takes about 3.5 - 4 hours.

I have been looking into tickets to DF recently, and YOWZA they're up. Anyone have any experience buying tix in the last few months?

I ask because I'm wondering if tix are up because of war-jitters, or are they going this way because of airline bankrupcy concerns, or have they been this high for six months now, or what?

Also, does anyone have any ideas for planning a trip with a cheap route to the DF or some other part of central mexico? (I could always bus it to DF from someplace else...)

I am going down the 31st of April. I am flying TJ to DF. I am using Aeromexico frequent Flier credits otherwise I would have paid $400 round trip. But the guy who works with me just bought tickets on Aero California from TJ to DF and paid $250 round trip.

If you see any good deals to GDL it is only 6 hours on Bus over to the DF. Use ETN. Its a great Bus line.

Yeah, I'm thinking about using AA miles to pay for the trip. The only way to get a decent fare at this point is to priceline it, and I'd rather have some control over my destiny...

I fly MIA to MEX. The fares are crazy but I saw some going on Dallas connections from FLL That dropped the fairs in the mid 200s. Try travelocity and make your date flexible. You'll have better luck finding reduced rate fairs. In general, business in MEX has gotten better and there is more business activity.

Anybody going to be in DF April 30 - May 4 that would like to hook up for a beer, drop me an inbox. Most of the weekend I will be under adult supervision( Mi novia) But I antiipate getting out either Friday or Saturday night.
