If you don't mind paying 56-60 per night, I second the recomendation on the Maria Cristina. It is a beutiful spanish stlye building with a nice sort of walled garden. There is a little bar in the garden and they also serve drinks on the lawn. Resturant in front , but it was kind of pricey. No safes, but i felt thing were safe in the rooms. Important point for summer, no air conditioning. I didnt register for two and was never challenged. The side entrance isnt nessecary since the front desk is set back from the front door. The area is nice enough that theres no Rambo security guys either. I had a number of massajistas arrive from newspaper ads and they werent bothered either. Bathrooms are huge and very nice, the chicas loved it.
I feel the walk to sullivan park is safe, it's the opposite side of the park thats seedy. However the discussion is probably mute, since from what I could tell, the sg's have been removed from this area. However, this isn't to say they are hard to find, see earlier posts on this subject. I also agree that the strip clubs are problamatic and expensive. I strictly pay cash on a drink/round at a time basis. This avoids the huge unfathomable bill at the end.

I can second the 'unfathomable' bill at the end. I was in the DF last summer and I went to tourist rip off bars with friends in Zona Rio (Luxor, Cypos?, Hawaii) and they literally didn't want you to pay as you go. The last night I was there alone and returned to Hawaii and ordered one Coke and I attemped to pay for it but couldn't. Beer was 50 pesos (+15% tax) and soda was probably the same. Had a great time there as an awesome redhead was in my lap and had her hand down my pants for the better part of an hour. Finally left and the asshole waiter tried to charge me 800 pesos. I only brought a 100 pesos bill with me and ended up just giving the asshole waiter that so I could get past the upstairs bouncers before I could walk downstairs and out of the place. I told them I was going back to the hotel to get more money but didn't return. Would have spent a lot more if they weren't such assholes. Hot chicks there but I didn't know any better to find out a better place to go. Overall, it was a worthwhile trip but I gave a nice tip to an asshole waiter and nothing to a hot redhead.

It's funny that you should mention the Angus. I've been hearing about the Angus "Postre Especial" (Special Dessert) since my first visit to the DF in '92. But I have yet to meet anyone that has actually had it. At least anyone that I believe.

A friend of mine was able to score with one of the Angus girls but that was only with a lot of work. He was there on a 2 month project staying at the Sheraton and he probably ate there 3 times a week during his stay.

Btw, those Mexican girls can sure close the deal. I knew at least 6 foreign guys who ended up marring Mexican girls when I was living in the DF.

I can give you some always current and true info regarding the "girls" on Rio Tiber, Rio Nazas, Rio Po, Rio Panuco behind the embassy. Unless you like your women with BIG packages stay away from them. Some of them are very convincing, but they are all guys. I know because I lived on Rio Po for 3 years.

My freind who told me about the Angus girls is a bartender at Boomers right around the corner. I trust him because he was also my roommate( and chica connection before I got tied up). He introduced me to a guy who was supposedly doing one of the girls. But the guy seemed flakey to me and I was not sure wether to believe him or not. Supposedly you have to work them a little and find out which ones are open to the idea. You then ask them out on a "date". You have to drop a ton of money on drinks, dinner, dancing etc. Then you move onto business. 3000 pesos a pop. Not including obligatory dinner, drinks, etc. Say 4500 to 5000 pesos per salida. Too pricey for me.

But I always had a contingency fund ready just in case. Kind of like a once in a lifetime thing like going to the Superbowl or something. If you know what I mean. But I never saw a chance anyway. Just wondered if any one else had any info. Because they are definitley some hot chicas.
But I assume if you are reasonably attractive and speak a little spanish you could probably score on one for free but I assume it would be a long process. And really no women comes free.

I've been watching this board for months looking for any activity. I'm glad something finally happened. Here are my DF experiences. I also lived there several years back.

My story that I heard about the Angus girls is they are there for LTRs. Most are Chilangas but from outside of the DF. Most come there to find a rich man to help there family out back home. Either story is probably urban myth.

Newspaper escorts are hit and miss. You find some good, some down right ugly. If you want to be happy I suggest you end your conversation "Si no me gusta?" This way you have a out and they are less likely to send the "most available (most ugly)" girl.

The same quality girls as Escorts (Sometimes I think the actually come from there) can be found in the massage palors or casa de citas near the zona rosa or Polanco. The cost is half ($40-50) but you have to go to them. If you are in the Zona Rosa, there are two on the west side, one 1n 31 Dublin street (two blocks west of the Diana fountain and south of Reforma) and 446 Chapultepec ave (This one is called Leo's Le Club there is an ad in the Universal, check the street number but I believe it is 446 definitely the 400 block.) Dublin Street takes credit cards, there is a small upcharge. Quality varies. It tends to be better on weekends and late night. The cost on Dubin Street goes to 800 pesos from 500 after 11:00 PM.

In Polanco, there is one on Rincon del Bosque. I have had good luck here. The quality is normally good. This street is Camino Real Hotel in Polanco. It is called Genesis.

If you are looking for a combination of Angus/Platinum girls and a massage place. There is a place called Ing. Norman. The price is really high 2200 to 2800 pesos per 1 and half. The price is on time not a single service. If you go there the place is high class. Cocktails included. The women are the best you will find. The pace will not be rushed. It is a true Casa de Citas.

I did not do a lot of hobbying in the DF. I was only there about 6 months before I hooked up with my future ex-wife.

I also found that if you are under 60, speak some spanish, are of ordinary looks( no quasimodo)you should be able to do OK in the bars. I had most of my fun with non pros. I had no problem hooking up on weekends. Yes it is more work. And in the long run just as expensive, but for me more satysfying. I like the chase almost as much as the kill. But sometimes it is nice to just go for it with out the hassle. Sometime you just got a bust a nut.

For that purpose, I had a favorite SG that worked in front of telmex over by Circuito. She was cost effective. I gave details in a post soomewhere above.
I also hooked up frequently with a Cuban girl who danced in a really lame show at Boomers( was a pirate Hooters until the US hooters got them shut down. Thats another story)in the Zona Rosa. Her name is Damaris. She had some big buck teeth. She could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence with those chompers. Other than that she was actually cute. And she had a great body and boy can she move. She charged 1000 pesos a session. No time limit. Usually just spent the night. She is semi pro, and did it as much for the fun as for the money. You had to kind of work your way into the situation, but once you were in you were in. I probabaly would have never made her as a puta. But my roommate told me so I knew how to proceed. She had a freind that was pretty cute too, who also was semi pro. But her teeth were even worse( so much for Cubas highly rated free health program).

Last I heard( December), they were hanging out at the new cuban place over on Londres between Florencia and Copenhagen. They had been dancing in a floor show in that Club that keeps going broke next to the parking garage and Church right on Reforma and Copenhagen.

In General, I do not feel that the DF is a good place for mongers. To damn expensive. But it is a frigging paradise for no pro action. I live in TJ now and I sure do miss the DF.

I am going there in three weeks, if I get a chance to check anything out I will post a note on this board.

I was going to add my two cents about a similar experience at KEOPS.

I only had about 350 pesos on me. I went in and ordered a beer. My experience in several areas of Mexico was that the "Ladies Drink" would be double in price. I think I paid 40 pesos for the beer.

A pretty nice looker came along and sat with me. She did not ask for a drink but I offered one. It was stupid not to ask a price, but oh well.

Well I decided to get a private dance from this girl for I think 150 pesos. You had to buy a little ticket. So I bought the ticket from the old ticket hag. Well while looker finished her drink I decided to have another beer. It was midweek, and neither of us were in a hurry. My plan was drink my two beers, have my dance, and split. Depending on the dance, I was thinking about negotiating with the girl to go back to my hotel. But no matter what I was going to be out of the bar.

About half way through my second beer the waiter comes along with a cardboard tent with the drink prices posted on it and slaps it down on the table. The price for a beer for the girl was 150. But I saw the scam. They dont set down the price list until you have purchased at least one ladies drink. So immediately I knew that I had spent more than I had on me. I never carried my credit card around down there. I always took just enough cash to meet my expected needs.

So I had to tell the girl, sorry. They are going to have to refund my dance ticket just to pay the bar bill. She was pissed off and went for the manager.

I told the manager that he had two options. He could return me the money for the dance, which I had not received, and I could pay my bar tab. Or he could go with me to my Hotel( the Maria Cristina) and I would pay him there. I knew he would not want to do that. So in the end he gave me the money back for the dance. I obviously lost a chance to negotiate some outside ation with a hottie. I know it was my fault for not asking the price up front, but I was no newbie to Mexico and 4 times the price of a regular beer was out of line. But what really pissed me off was their attitude about what was obviously an honest mistake.

Anyway, as you have so ably said. Beware the scams in the titty bars in el DF. It is far worse than in TJ.

Mexico City last week I went and checked out a bar in the Condesa called "El Closet" and lucked out with a doll; she did me and was wonderful. The fancy hotels, in this case the 4 Seasons simply photocopy the girl's ID and are respectful.
On my way back through DF I called the doll and she met me at the airport Marriott. DF treated me fine. If you are concerned with security, have the hotel get you a driver.

Kind of like a drunken high school or college party. From a source I trust, so definitely not an urban myth!

Yes, Keops was probably the worst and the biggest ripoff that I was in. I remember when we were leaving a guy came out the door after us with a broom and asked for a tip for sweeping the floor. I said 'I couldn't even see the floor' - my friends thought that was funny. There were several guys who would try to get you in there - even from blocks away. Places like that make Revolution places seem very upright and honest. My theory is that they get a ton of business travelers with expense accounts and tourists who don't know any better. I know I would have spent more money there if they were reasonable.

I remember that Angus restaurant very well. I did a lot of walking at night along that walkway (Hamburgo?) and the first time I went by that I said, she's hot, she's hot, she's hot - holy shit everyone is hot (and well endowed). Does Hugh Hefner own that place? The outside menu was very pricy and I was trying to taste the local food so I never went there.

Thanks for the tip on the Hotel Imperial - I stayed there in a Master Suite for a couple nights - pretty much as you described. Never had company in there though as I was into the sightseeing and didn't really know how to go about things. Largest room I've ever stayed in.

Well amigos...here´s my take on the street scene here...went over to La Merced this afternoon..north from San Pablo on Anillo de Circunvalacion, especially around Corregadora..place is packed with SGs....the area by day is completely safe, and there are plenty of cops with weapons standing guard, who don't care about the scene at all...cost is nothing...100-120 pesos, which includes hotel room (Vera Cruz is the most common hotel used, and some gals have their own small rooms around the corner)...the bad news is that most of the chicas are bone ugly and none too friendly...i didn't expect much...did find one decent and slim gal, you basically get to drop your pants and do the deed, and that is all..in ten or fifteen minutes...she doesn't take off her top, nor do much else except lie there....after a winter in Thailand with a zillion GF experiences, this was rather pathetic...anyways, thought i'd pass it on...guess you get what you pay for here in the DF..will check out the Zona Rosa scene later...

The Cadillac is on the north lateral of the Circuito Interior near Thiers in the Col. Anzures. It will say Cadillac Dance Hall in bright lights. Opens at 8pm, but doesn't get going til at least 10ish til 5am.

Pks2141's link is good but some of the info is out of date. Beer's are around P$50, mixed drinks P$80 and Girl's drinks P$130. When they bring you the bill, they will add another 15% for the iva and at least 10% for the propina. If you go with a group, its cheaper to buy a bottle. Beware of the usual scams. Dance tixs are P$200 each.

I enjoyed your prior posts on this thread. I cant believe that I lived in the DF for three years and did not visit more spots. Thats what happens when you get tied up with just one chilangita.

I am going to try to get into a couple of spots this weekend and will report in.

thought i'd add a bit to my above posting...went back to La Merced today...again, seemed to be slim, if abundant pickings...however my gal today was far improved for service...went to a cleaner hotel (which was 50 pesos ST instead of 40)...it was 80 pesos for the deed, but for 200, she offered full nude, massage, and multiple positions...a much better proposition and attitude than my last choice.....on the way home, i came across something most interesting....going down calle Manzanares towards the zocalo (there is the Universal Hotel on the corner of Manzanares and Circunvalacion), i came across a small alley on my right, were a group of men were standing watching a line of women in miniskirts that i could barely make out..i thought maybe it was some sort of a bust, but coming closer, found that the ladies were just walking in a continuous circle, allowing the men to inspect them and chat them up if they wished..when service was agreed on, off they went to rooms on the premises....i wandered through the alley, which comes out on the other side on Corrregidora, and found that it is full of outdoor beer bars and food joints, and that there is an endless parade of walking women...they seemed to be more attractive in here than on the street, although prices are the same...guess they feel more unseen and protected in here, plus the fact that the whole alley is a full on redlight district, and everyone knows why they are there.....anybody ever come across this spot? Certainly in the daylight it felt very safe, and with the crowds and scene, i would go back at night....the prices certainly beat the Zona Rosa, and there are no scam artists or rip off drivers or other sorts who are waiting for gringos the way there are in the Zona.....bueno suerte......

We weren't able to find anything on Sullivan street. We ventured around in a cab and checked out a strip club. Cadillac's was the club and the girls were knockouts. However, what a ripoff!! Ficha drinks $20 and you had to buy like 4 or 5 privados at $20 each just to get them naked. Then it would be more for favors. Fuck that. We went to a bunch of ficha type bars later but you had to take the girls out of the bar.

The best thing we found were the massage parlors. Find a cool taxista and have him take you there. The going rate is 800 pesos for sex. It was the best thing we could find with limited time.

I'm off to DF Sunday; got an apartment in Polanco.

You don't need a taxista to go to a massage place.Many advertise in El Universal or other papers. The 'going' rate you mention sounds high. It may well have included a kickback to the taxista.

You are right on. I once took a cab to one I knew and taxista did not; schmuck went in a couple of minutes after me, I was already in the room with the girl, and it went up to pay him.

Lived in Mexico City from 98-2001. I lived two blocks from the Zona Rosa. If you want to meet high class girls go to Polanco or to San Angel. A good place to go is Carlos and Charlies in San Angel right across the street from Gallerias San. Taxi driver should know it.

In the Zona Rosa I reccomend Freedom, and maybe Yuppies Sportsbar as a place to meet normal chicas. Pop your head in Boomers( right across from Yuppies and Ask for "Charlie" the bar manager. Tell him his old gringo roommate that now lives in Tijuana sent you. Tell him to give you a brew on my tab and fill you in on whats going on in the area.

If you want to see some very beautiful women and have a really good steak, eat dinner at Angus, it is right around the corner from Yuppies and boomers. I think the street is hamburgo. But everyone in the Zona Rosa will know it.

Looking for update on the Zonz Rosa. Going the first week in October. Travel there about four times a year and it constantly changes.

Recommended massage places in the Zonz Rosa?

There are 3 close or in the Z/R in DF. I have posted these before but they are still valid. All prices in US Dollars and for a single release.

Berna 16 (Bernalet): It is located 1 block east and 1 block south of Reforma/Florencia (The Angel intersection). Quality is fair (Older, fatter.) The cost is relatively cheap (probably $35 - 40).

Dublin 31: Is located two blocks west of the "Diana" fountain. More precisely on the north/west corner of Dublin and the first street south of Reform. or about 6 blocks west and 1 block south of Reforma/Florencia. The quality is better. It looks just like a house but ring the bell. The cost is higher about $50 to $55. After 9PM, the cost goes up about $30. Again, this is for one release.

Chapultepec 446: About 6 blocks south and west of Reforma/Florencia. (Chapultepec is the first major street south of Reforma or the southern edge of the Zona Rosa.) The cost here is about $55 to $60. The quality is the best MP without going to Colonia Roma or Polanco but it veries greatly by hour and day.

I don't know your travel purpose, I assume business but if you want another route try El Closet and try to see a girl during the hours the are not open. (Generally before 9 or 10 PM.) Work in Dinner or late lunch and hobby time. It should run you $80 - $100, more likely for a more GFE and less rushed time. YMMV but this normally works. Forget any ZR clubs. Any that are still operating are really a rip off. Most of the girls will tell you what you want to hear but are really looking for that nights tip or lap dance. El Closet attack may be 70 or 80% chance but the dances are cheaper, your odds are better, and if she doesn't show up there is always the MP.

El Closet is in Colonia Condessa. Near Calle Baja California. Any Zona Rosa taxi driver can take you there. About a 50 peso ride late at night.

If you are going to venture out in a taxi, there are two other MPs in Polanco. Higher quality, more expensive. One is on Calle La Martine about 3 houses off Maserik. And there is one on Rincon Del Bosque, #74 I think. This is near Camino Real. Both Advertise (only in the actual newspaper) in El Universal.

Have fun. DF is not cheap for the hobby.

Great club, the dancers are in terrific shape and the lap dances are 20 dollars. On normal dances they don't take their G Strings off but if you pay for three dances they will take you upstairs and into a booth where they will take off everything and let you feel them up completely.

It is important that you talk to the girl before you take her upstairs and agree on what she will let you do.
Don't be crude, do not walk up to a girl and tell her "can I finger you" or "I wanna put it in you", instead bring them to your table, order them a drink (no more than two because they cost 10 dollars each), and make some small talk with them, after about half an hour they will feel more at ease with you and they will be more willing to meet your needs.

The waiters and staff are friendly but do not try to get out of line because they will throw you out.

It is possible to take girls out for the night but that will cost you between 400 and 600 dollars,depending on the girl you want and you have to talk directly to the girl as some of them don't go out.

The zone is fairly safe and they have Valet Parking, the only problem is that is a little far from the main hotel zone in Mexico City.

I just got back this morning from 4 days in Mexico City. I went to Zona Rosa Thursday and Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday during the day. No problems. Lots of tourists everyywhere.

The Zona Rosa used to be a real nice place to have dinner and hang in some good clubs. But starting in the mid 90's it really started to decline. Be prepared for lots of children begging, lots of street vendors. Lots of Gays. It has become gay central with gay couples maybe about 30% of the total. That does not mean there are not some good straight activities available.

Friday night there were a lot of really nice women in Yuppies on Genova between Reforma and Hamburgo. Solid Gold looked like it was doing good business. I did not go in. It has some really nice women, but it is expensive. The Mens club around the corner on Varsovia is also top notch but once again very expensive. Many of the girls will negotiate a visit to your hotel, but it will probably run upwards of $200. Mexico City is not a real good mongering destination.

Across the street from Yuppies is a bar called boomers. Go in and ask for Charlie. Hes the bar manager. Tell him robert from Tijuana sent you
in and you want the latest on where you can find some action. He will probably give you a free beer.

Mexico City in general seemed a little better than it has the last few times I went down. The governemnt has thrown more money into police presence. That is not going to do much but it probably does discourage petty street crime.

Back to your original question. Zona Rosa is probably not the safest place to be, but I do not see much reason to avoid it. Use common sense and you should be fine.

1. Be aware of your surroundings.
2. Dont get plastered unless you are with others who can watch out for you.
3. Dont carry your passport, credit cards or excessive cash.
4. If you see an area that looks dark or dangerous, go around it.

I went to the Zona rosa 3-4 times a week from 98-2001. Never had a problem. You probbaly wont either.

Is there a difference between the zona rosa and the zona roja? The zona rosa seemed like an upper class area to me with not much other than regular bars. We managed to find some strip clubs and massage parlors. Never did find Calle Sullivan.

Zona Rosa used to be upscale. Its not anymore. Polanco and San Angel are now the more upscale areas. But it is not a Zona Roja like in TJ etc. It is PINK zone not RED zona. Different concept.

To my knowledge there is not a traditional Zona Roja in Mexico City. There are several areas where street prostitution is open and visible. La Merced. Parque Sullivan and surrounding area. Calzado Tlapan. Etc.

Probably the closest thing to a zone of tolerance is in the old part of downtown bordering Tepito. I have heard about it. Someone on the board actually went there. But I never dared. Thats a damn scary part of town.

Parque Sullivan is between Circuito Interior and Reforma just west of Insurgentes. There is alot of activity right infront of the Telmex building. That is about one block away from Parque Sullivan. It is right on Circuito interior on the other side from the Pemex Tower. On a Friday saturday night their are upwards of 100 women in that are. Some bad. Some ok.A few really nice ones. Prices run from 150 pesos up.

If you were in Zona Rosa you were a 10-15 minute walk from Sullivan.
