El Dragon Rojo (The red Dragon) located at: 71 Avenida P. Elias Calles, which is very near the huge indoor market on Calle. Matamoros.

Delicious Chinese/Cantonese food at economical prices. Not greasy at all. No fat in the chicken.

Itīs right across the street from Hotel Niza.

Nice place to eat. clean. tidy. And the waiter is gay, which means you get professional service.

Thanks M.B.!
Never tried that place but intend to do so in the future.
I have tried a number of Chinese restaurants in Hermosillo and most have been outstanding. Almost all the restaurants are Cantonese style, which I prefer. Of course, I would recommend any dish prepared with the local fresh seafood.
My favorite restaurant is downtown and close to Hotel Kino. When I remember the name of the place I will post it. I usually order shrimp fried rice, an entree with a combination of seafood and a beer and it usually costs like $1500 pesos with tip. It is large amount of quality food for the money. Mexico has definately spoiled me for Chinese food and seafood. I don't even like to order it in Arizona anymore.

Oh! I have only one question for you, M.B.:
How can you be so sure the waiter is gay?

Well for one thing, when I walked in there last week, the first thing that struck me was the sheer layout of the restaurant. It looked like a design setting from the Christopher Lowell show. ( I don't know if you know who he is. He's flambouyant interior designer guy on the Discovery Channel)

Anyway, this waiter about 30-something, shaved head with small rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose comes "swishing" over and asks in a very low soft voice if I was here to dine for lunch.

I said he gave professional waiter service because he came to my table to ask if my food was ok, but when he brought the drink, he put the glass down on the table and poured the drink from the bottle- something you don't always see in waiter service nowadays.

But anyway, the food was so good. It was so fresh and tasty. And the restaurant was clean also.

When you can remember the name of this restaurant you talked about, please don't forget to post the info., as I'll definitely be returning to Hermosillo in two or three months.

Regards,

Master Bates.

Master Bates,
The restaurant I was trying to remember is called Jo Wah. It is on the main thoroughfare downtown called Blvd Rosales. Please see my entry under restaurants.

If you need a trip buddy, let me know.

Ah, yes. Jo Wah. How could I forget? That's where I took a hooker on a date there to eat.
