I heard that they are increasing security at the Nuevo Lardeo border to thward terrorism...I haven't been there in awhile...in past, I walked across the foot bridge after paying anominal fee...when returning to the states I showed my Texas drivers license and they might ask me a question such as where I was born, then waived me through.
Are procedures still the same, or are there new changes and much longer lines?
Thanks.

Don't know about NL, but in Nogales I just show my drivers license and they will typically ask:
- US citizen?
- Where are you coming from?
- How long where you in Mexico?
- What were you doing in Mexico?
- What do you have in the bag? (I usually have my overnight bag with me.)
Sometimes they look in my bag, sometimes they x-ray it, and sometimes they don't do either. They even had a drug dog sniffing people coming through one day, but I've only seen that once in a few years of mongering visits.
And lines are pretty long right now - every Mexican and his brother is coming north of the border to Christmas shop, visit family, whatever. The pedestrian line was moderate, the auto line was ridiculous. Thankfully Nogales is an easy walk for mongers, since the clubs start about 100ft from the border.

A week or so ago, I got asked a number of questions. I got the idea the agent was trying to embarrass me, but I let it roll off of me. I presented only my driver's license. Later I wondered whether I would have been questioned less with my passport. There was no line at about 5 AM.

They'd have quite the challenge embarrassing me, since I really don't give a shit what their petty minds are limited to conceiving. Reminds me of the time an agent searched my bag. He opened my inner toiletry bag, and on top was my larger play toy - a 7" jelly vibrator. The search was completed *very* quickly thereafter. I think he was taken aback, while I was doing my damndest not to laugh out loud. ;)
There's an old saying - "I used to be shocked, now I'm just amused."

LOL! I wonder if he thought that was for you or someone else?

Last time I was in NL, Tamps. was in mid May this year. I had absolutely no problem walking back to the US side. Although I have seen it frigging HORRIBLE in years gone by. Depends on the season I guess. Catch as catch can...
