There are several golf courses in the state of Veracruz, but the state is pretty damn big so the density isn't very good.

In Veracruz, Veracruz, there is one course I've found. It's actually out past Boca Del Rio, the city next door. (Veracruz is the old city, BDR is the new. Kind of like Dallas & Fort Worth.)

The course is a long 9-hole course, par 4. There are water and sand traps, and it's a nice hilly area. There is probably 60m of altitude difference from highest to lowest point, and hoyo 8 is a nice 550m uphill dogleg.

The course is beautiful, obviously it has been around a while, but they are still building x-campo houses, so if you're in a "retire to veracruz" mood, check it out.

They are having some kind of problems with their greens, though, so those are being reconstructed. The only significant problem for players is that some of the greens are DAMN fast, while others that are rebuilding are like quicksand - it'd be easier to pitch than putt.

All things considered, it's definitely my favorite 9-hoyo course of the trip, and considering that I took a Malecón chica in disguise for some entertainment in the baño between 4 and 5, it's probably going to be in my top 10 most fun courses list.

The cute but clueless recepcionista at HI-Centro where I'm staying suggested I could play at Xalapa, which is only a 3.5 hr drive. Nice tits, shame about the brain. The http://www.golf.com.mx/2002/f_campos.html website lists Villa Rica, thank God.
