Wondering if anyone can suggest nice restaurants in NL suitable for bringing a date (BT chica or otherwise)? Something genuinely nice, maybe even a bit snazzy, "fine dining," would be great...Thanks!

Restaurant at Santa Maria Hotel. Always nice but full of many wealthy Mexicans and the kids.

Victoria's is also very nice, close to the Mercado downtown.

El Dorado/Cadillac Bar is another nice one.

If you are looking for the romantic kind of place try Victoria's.

Forget about it. The best, cleanest, and best value restaurant in NL few gringos know about and it's called "El Rancho." Located right on the main drag but a long 15-minute walk once you cross the old bridge. Take a cab, better yet hop a bus. It's great food and a good atmosphere. It'll be on your right hand side heading away from the bridge...Been there many times.

I've eaten there one time at El Rancho.

The fajitas really sucked, never had a tougher piece of meat, it might have been shoe leather.

YMMV for sure.

And I would not call it a romantic kinda place either.

I suspect that there is more than one Cadillac Restaurant. I remember the place that you, I, and BigRed went to. There is also a place that I found that had a sport book. Very nice place.

Walking away from the bridge down the main street (Guerra ?) about the 3rd street on the right is called Victoria. Turn right and on the next corner is a Cadillac Bar and restaurant. Large dinning area, diverse menu with good food, huge bar, and a classy looking sports book in the back with about 20 TVs. You can watch the entire NFL play at the same time.

Across the street from this is a very nice looking restaurant that appears to be impress a date material. Might need a reservation for that one. Don't remember the name.

That's the NEW Cadillac Bar you are speaking of. The old place is called El Dorado (has been for quite a few years).

The place across the street (the impressive place for a date) is Victoria's. Really, really, nice and great food. I have not been to the new Cadillac Bar yet. One of my San Antonio buddies (who has family in Laredo) told me about it. It's on the list. Maybe in October ??

Have been to N.L. Zona Rosa, and was wondering if anyone has information on good clean hotels there and about escort/ladies to arrange an overnight companion in N.L. something more comfortable than the rooms in boystowns for an hour.

I will leave this question primarily to RodeTrip, as he is an expert and I usually follow advice from him, Wilco, YoungTom and DeerHunter.

Basically, the upscale hotels are Santa Maria, Hacienda, and Tres Caminos. These hotels are a little expensive ranging from $65 to close to $100 a night. I would make a reservation.

I would think that you can find a girl for an overnighter at Papaguyos. Going rate for this seems to be about $250 on a weekend night, plus or minus depending on you, her, and who knows what else. On my three trips to BT, I have twice found Papaguyos girls whom I liked enough to want to spend extended time with. I would get there about 10 or so before it gets very crowded.

Yeah, definetly in October. On my last 2 trips I went to the NEW Cadillac Bar to chill for a while. Real nice place. I am also thinking of staying at Tres Caminos in October. YoungTom was telling me that it's more accessible to the downtown area for day time exploring.

Don't forget to try "El Rancho" it's a damn good restaurant...

Gitano is dead on accurate. Price for allnighter depends on the girl. One time I had two sisters for $150 total all night with a great performance from them. Then another time $500 for one gal I just had to have (turns out she looked great, but the service sucked, no not her mouth). My normal price is $200 to $300. Always try for low $$ since this will be your set price if you do a return visit.

I would estimate 80% of the girls will do allnighters at hotels. It's rare one will turn you down. Mostly on the ones who are really, really busy and have been there for a few years will turn you down. They make plenty of money. Much more than $300 a night.

Then again, these same gals also go to the hotel. Mostly depends on their attitude that night.

All the gals like to stay at the nicer hotels.

It will be interesting to see if the 3 New hotels being built are easy to do business with. (will they knowing allow girls from the zone to our rooms with us ?). I am also waiting to see what the prices will be. Assuming this terrorist thing had an impact down there, maybe hotel prices have gotten more reasonable in NL side of the border. We pay more for the same quality of room in Mexico than we do in the US. But the convenience is nice. What's $90 for a room when we are paying $300 a night to the girls?
