I am thinking about getting to BoysTown a couple of times in the near future. I miss the cantina ambience. Got a couple of questions.

I would be coming into the LRD airport about 9:20 on a Friday night. Is it easy enough to catch a taxi to the border at that time ? I was figuring on staying on the Mexican side for a few days and don't see any reason to rent a car.

If I walk back into the US about 10:00 on a Sunday morning are there cabs around to get to the airport. Seems obvious that there should be, but I don't remember seeing any at that time in the past. Wasn't looking for them either.

How fucking hot is it aleady and will it be in June. I figure for June it's 100 during the day and a balmy 75 at night.

No problem about a cab at the airport at 9:20- but unless you're staying at one of the two hotels (which both offer shuttle) expect about a $20 charge.

Cabs at the Border can be a little hit or miss they all mainly hang around by the bus station, but you should have to wait no longer than 15 mins for one to cruise by, or they can be called.

Gitano, you can take a taxi directly from the
airport to your hotel on the Mexican side . When
I got off the airplane all the taxi had left -
so a trucker called one for me on his cell phone.
The taxi he called is called TOPS TAXI at 7221011
tell the guy you want to go to Nuevo Laredo and
ask him how much it will cost. They had a taxi
to the airport in about 10 minutes. There is
no bus service to the airport. Remember to
negociate the price before you get into the cab.
So bring your cell phone which will probably
work in Nuevo Laredo or a few quarters for the
phone calls.
There are special licensed taxi drivers
who your hotel in Mexico can call for you that
will take you directly to the Laredo Airport on
the Texas side. The guy I used who was good
and basically honest is Valentin Chaves at phone
12-08-88, his cell phone number is 252141, He
speaks english but I doubt you will need that
with your proficiency in spanish. I would imagine that any of these special licensed taxis
would be O K.

110 that is balmy. Heck $20 bucks ain't much cheaper than renting a car at LRD. I might as well go that route.

I plan a trip down to BT 6/21 - 6/22 . I have not been there is a year. Generally I feel safe as a new born in BT. Nothing like TJ where you can feel the danger if your in the wrong place. This US State Department warning http://travel.state.gov/mexico.html) has me concerned.
Are there any other changes I should be aware of in BT? Has the new government made waves there? Is anyone going down there 6/21 or 6/22.
