This is a nice place just a block south of Senior Amigo's on Obregon. Rooms are about $40 and it includes secure parking. This is the best place I have found and is close to all the action. Now that there is a freeway outside your window at Granada I will only stay here.

Roberto, thanks for the brief description of your stay.

Could you expand on why you believe Hotel Olivia to be the best? Past posts seem to indicate Hotel Granada was the ideal in Nogales. Does Hotel Olivia offer additional amenities (wi-fi, comforters, etc.) or better food? I seem to doubt it based on the $40 rate.
Maybe the secure parking was the clincher for you and your Porsche? I also drive a tier 1 german import but not ready to drive it across the border just yet.

I will be making my maiden voyage through Nogales the week after next. I am a former TJ hound and regularly stayed at Hotel Pueblo Amigo.

Not interested in roach motels or 6x6 short time rooms -- that is not how I roll.

I do not expect to find the same quality and amenities (not to mention the inhouse sportsbook) as Pueblo Amigo in Nogales. However, something close would be great.

Your golden insight is always appreciated. Any insight on the Nogales Sportsbook options would also be much appreciated! Was thinking about giving Gilberto a call but your post stated he was MIA.

Cheers

Trinity stay at Hotel Fray De Marcos, its the tallest building downtown. Get one of the king bed rooms. Best in town. The sports book is in the building directly infront on the border crossing. The road will V out from the crossing, the sports book is in the middle of the V. It's a dump of a place. Depending on what you are betting, Fray De Marcos might have it on in the bar. So place your bet and go back to the hotel's bar to watch it. We use to do this for all the big fights. For dinner, make sure you check out the resturant in the Hotel = top shelf food.

I always stay at Pueblo Amigo in TJ also. Nogi is either great or pitiful. You never know.

I have stayed at Pueble Amigo many times. The only thing close to that level would be the Plaza which is a good 3 miles from the border.

I like Olivia because it is clean, inexpensive, and not strict on girls. The location and free secured parking is great. There is a restaurant and a bar. It is not on the level of Pueblo Amigo. It is similar to Granada but close to the border.

Hotel Fray de Marcos is a classy older hotel that has seen better days. It has a nice restaurant and bar but they are strict on girls. When I stayed there everything was ancient such as the bed and furniture. I think the price was closer to $80. I didn't notice any parking.

Either way, both are good, safe choices for an American. Ask to see the rooms before you pay and make your choice. I wish you the best on your trip.

I just read some horrible reviews of the supposed 5 star Plaza Hotel so disregard that part of my above post.

Thanks Blue Light and Roberto!

I will try the Hotel Fray de Marcos based on your joint endorsements. Since this is my first visit, I have moderate expectations.

Based on the posts, I understand one needs to mingle a bit and establish some level of trust with the Nogi talent. No problem -- I understand it's a marathon -- not a sprint. I typically focused on waitresses at the Polo Club (new crew every few months) in TJ which paid dividends and great GFEs -- hope to do the same in Nogales. Unfortunately my pigeon espanol has gone to shit since moving to AZ so I will be a little rusty.

Thanks for the sportsbook info -- I will definitely check out the NBA action there as well as the sportsbar at Hotel Fray de Marcos.

Detailed report and hopefully some photos will follow once I return. Hope to meet you both at some point -- first round on me.

Cheers and thanks again!

Any Internet Access in this hotel?

it is close enough to the border that you might be able to get a broadband signal from the north side or poach WiFi off Hotel Fray Marcos De Niza.

Better yet, just stay at Fray Marcos. Olivia is a dump.
