Thurday, December 20, 2007:
Cruise ship was in port from 9 AM to 6 PM and running tenders to the Zihuatenjo pier.
I was feeling pretty lazy that day and did not make it to shore until noon. So I wandered around just about every street in town. I did not see any sign of entertainment and was never approached by a tout, so my experience says there is nothing here for daytime mongers and not much promise for night time either.
It is a cute little village with nice beaches and quite a few beach front restaurants and shops, but you better bring your own chica.
I did not take the taxi ride to Ixtapa and can not report on that location. There just was not enough time before the ship leaves.

I was doing additional research on international sex guide dot org and found that the strip clubs really are in the Zihuantanejo sector, but along the road to Ixtapa. However, I turned around at the Kyoto Plaza and do not know how much further it was to the clubs and it sounds like they don't get started until 7 PM anyway.
There is also a brothel in town where many strip club girls live and daytime service is supposed to be available, but it is a non-descript knock on the door operation.

I spent 3 weeks in Zihuatanejo last winter. There is a brothel called Casa Azul, just 1 block up from Kyoto Plaza. The locals call it a private club. You need to be introduced to get in. It's a gated hotel with a buzzer & intercom. I would go there between noon-7pm. There is a tour guide named Moro. He works works out of the Kelsey Hotel on Calle Los Limones, and speaks English. He will get you in for 200pesos=$15. I would like to meet up with a trip buddy there this winter sometime between Jan.15-Mar.28. I stayed at the Hotel Kelsey. It's 2 blocks from the brothel, 2 blocks from the beach, 2 blocks from the banks, & 2 blocks from the central market (according to which direction you walk). My room had a kitchenette, private bath, TV with American movies, A/C. $35/night. The hotel also has a clean swimming pool. The pace in Zihua is super slow. Winter weather 90 day 70 night, no rain. Contact me for more info.
