No actually he's right, but a place that I would recommend, where you won't get fleeced is Tampico. Stay on Miramar beach, the eats and drinks, pussy and everything else is MUCH cheaper than other more traveled places like Vallarta, Acapulco etc...Just my two cents...

I'll agree and disagree with Quilombo about Tampico (a place I have first-hand knowledge of.) While it is definitely off the beaten tourist path and, therefore, much cheaper as Quilombo states, the mongering scene is pretty small and not very easily accessible if you don't know Spanish. If you're young and got a little game, you might have luck with non-pros in Tampico's discos, but Tampiquenians, while friendly, are not very open to outsiders.

Frankly, I'd agree with MX that Rio fits the bill exactly for the truck driver - either that or Costa Rica. Since he's never been there it would be head-and-shoulder above the U.S. and he'd actually get to practice his new Spanish skills.

IMO, you described Cartagena, Colombia, although it has a decent beach and not a world class beach like RIO. But you'll pay less for many things in Colombia and relatively easy to pickup.

It often surprises me how bad and expensive the p4p is in many Mexican beach towns, been to Cancun, Cozumel, Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Acapulco.

What about Monterrey Mexico? I read there are a lot of great mongering places there. But is it safe?

Never been to Monterrey, but I've heard good things. Lots of very good looking locals, and it's not a touristy spot so not many Americanos to compete with or soil the waters, ie the spring breakers.
