There is a new sports book open on the 1100 block of Madero, 1/2 a block from the corner with Diego de Montemayor. Full line of college basketball was up yesterday including the pinche Ivy League games. It's operated by the big Juarez race and sportsbooks. Very nice to see this in Monterrey, though with my luck, I should never bet again. Yesterday's loser was the previously undefeated Duke team facing a Maryland team that had shown NOTHING so far this year.
As may be expected in Mexico, the line on the Raiders was WAY out of whack. It started at 8 and went all the way to nine in the couple hours I was there. Standard Vegas line was 7 1/2.

Regio informed me that there's a Caliente sports book directly behind Plaza Real mall, AKA HEB mall (across from Liverpool).

Sportsbooks in Monterrey (and maybe all of Mexico) deduct 2% from the payout total as a 'tax'. It's not adverstised anywhere in the casino, and supposedly common knowledge. I still made quite a stink when my 'pay' total magically decreased by 2 bucks.

The place on Madero is now closed. There's a Caliente right off the Metro near the Howard Johnson's in addition to the one near HEB.
