There is a bit of a process to get to Cuba from Costa Rica but Jonesie helped me quite a bit. Basically you have to make sure to get Euros as I received an extra 142 extra Cuban Convertible Pesos as a result of using Euros. The flight is 2 hours and 15 minutes and we lose two hours so we arrive near 11pm. Had 3 Brazilian guys on the flight next to me and had to remind myself of how much Portuguese I have forgot by not using it any more.

At the airport things got a bit squirly. I believe immigration figured out I was on the trip with Jonesie and he has made 50 some odd trips in the past couple years so a red flag must have went up. Retrieved our luggage and had to wait a good 20 minutes or so before a customs official asked Jonesie everything under the sun and had a long list of information he wrote on the back of some form. Guess they wanted to fuck with us a bit. The official then wanted to know how I learned to speak Spanish so well and why I had a Cuban accent(have had this pointed out to me but my only explanation was a tutor I had for a year 10 years ago who was Cuban). Finally they let us go with our passports. Exchanged 1,000 Euros and cant remember how much CUC I had. Took a cab for $20CUC into our casa particular in Vedado.

At this point it was 1am and we were already run through a ringer. At the casa particular, the owner let us know that she had already rented out our casas even though Jonesie had confirmed the reservation. Cubans take the "bird in hand" concept to the extreme. I am sure they get quite a few cancellations so they just cancel reservations as they see fit and we were somewhat fucked as a result. They then split us up into three different casas. I had to then get lectured by the elderly owner about watching out for my money and underage girls. He wanted me to place my money in his safe but I just didnt trust this guy even though he was 80+. Couple of photos from the casa particular I stayed on my first night for $40. Was supposed to be $35 but the old cunt who overbooked our casa put us up in other rooms and took a commission. Also, photos from the shower.

Woke up and went to the Hotel National before changing casa particulars to our old building near the Melia Cohiba.
