Hunting in Cartagena.

I am starting to know Cartagena fairly well. This report will be brief, but you may find it helpful. Not sure of all the spelling of all the names, but it will be close.
First, there are many reports on Cartagena, read them. Cartagena is a great spot to hunt for ladies. The Colombian women are very sexy, and have some of the finest skin tones in the world. You will find all kinds, from white to black, have fun.

Arriving at the airport-take a taxi into the city, the cost should be no more than 15,000 pesos.

Where to stay-you can stay at many hotels, but, you probably want to rent an apartment in La Quito. On this board, you will find reference to Juan Ventura. He speaks English, and he is very honest. His places are guest friendly. He is the best, and will take care of you. Do not go to others.

Hunting for the ladies.

I have never been to the casas. I have been to Electra and La Dolce Vida. Electra is in Centro. La Dolce Vida is in La Quido, and ask, it is very close to Juan’s apartments. This place does not get going until midnight, and an all nighter to about 7am will cost you 200,000 plus with good negotiation skills. This is a must visit place. The ladies will look great, but will be fairly professional, and a little older. For a quick kill, this place will work out. But, it is not the kind of mongering that I enjoy. It is too late for me, and way to professional.

I enjoy hunting for the ladies on Hollywood Playa. This is where Tony hangs out, this is where Jaison, Pedro, and others will run up to you and ask you what you need. They will sell you anything you want. They will INFLATE all of the prices for a cabana, drinks, food, you name it. Deal with one of these guys, and you will not be the HUNTER, you will be the Hunted..

Do you want to hunt, and not be the hunted? It is easy. Here is your lesson, and it is free. When you get to Hollywood Playa, it is the first access to the beach after you walk past Hotel Caribe on the way to the Hilton. Walk from the street to the beach, about 150 feet, and look to the left. You will see a beach bar. Walk toward the bar, and when you are at the bar, make directly for the beach. What I am trying to do is get you to the cabana area, ignoring the touts (Tony and his kind), and ask for Faustino. Tell the touts you want to talk to Faustio. Faustino is the man with the Central cabanas concession on Hollywood Playa. Rent directly from him. He is 50 years old, bald, black, and muscular. Rent from others, and they will pay Faustino directly and charge you more. Ignore all others, and deal from Faustino for the cababa only. A cabana and chair will cost you about 10,000 pesos for the day. Get set up near the little fruit stand on the beach in front of Faustino’s cabanas, and you will now be at LADY CENTRAL. Hint, choose one of his chase lounges, so a girl can sit with you later at the foot of the lounge. This may cost a couple of pesos more, but do it.

Now order 5 beers from Faustino. It will be brought to you in a cooler. Ask for plenty of ice. This is your fishing or hunting bait. Now turn your chase lounge parallel to the beach so you can watch the beach, and ALSO the entrance to Hollywood playa. You now are the hunter. Why need Tony or others? You can now hunt for the ladies yourself. Buy the way, if you go to the bar yourself, and get the cooler of five beers, you will avoid the 1000 peso up charge for each beer that Faustino or a tout will get if delivered. These moves really cuts touts Jaison, Tony and others out of the business. They will know you know what you are doing and after the initial shock, will probably mostly leave you alone. Be polite to Tony, and friendly, you may need him later. Don’t buy him anything. Famous line-‘one beer for Tony’. Ahhhn, no Tony.

On the Playa, the ladies start arriving about noon. They will still be coming at 2pm. They are easy to find. Walk the beach. See something you like, give her a little smile. If she is in the business, she will smile back. Take special note of the ladies that have real nice swim suits or try to look hot. Ladies usually travel in groups of 2-4. These ladies come to Hollywood Playa from all over Colombia, and may be in town from a couple of days to several weeks. While you are watching the entrance to the beach or the along the beach, you again are now the hunter. You are not the hunted. This is exactly what Tony does to meet the ladies. Watch him, he is always looking at the beach entrance for either ladies or clients. All the ladies know to come to Hollywood Playa. Once Tony gets to know the visiting ladies, and gets their number, he now can charge YOU a commission. Hunt for yourself, the ladies WILL be receptive. Cut out the middle man. Don’t let him get between you and the ladies, and he will try. The ladies are not owned by Tony, they are free lancers.

You will see all types of ladies. I like the beach, they are in bikinis’ that show all the goods. Note, these may be the same girls you see in the clubs at night. Usually, the Playa girls will however be younger than the bar girls. Younger, and in better shape! Don’t let younger fool you, these chicks know what they are doing. Negotiate what you want ahead of time, make sure she is clear in the understanding, and pay at the end of the determined time. Do not be a sucker, make them do what they agree.

Note, with all the girls passing through Hollywood Playa, many from out of town, some will be locals from Cartagena. One of these ladies is named Maria. Maria is 24, and has been working the Playa for a number of years. She is easy to spot. Tiny girl, with medium to short hair that she dies a little lighter, might be auburn or blondish. AVOID-she lies and cheats, and loves to suck you dry. Do not trust this lady. She had a birthday in June. Believe me, this girl is not the best on Hollywood Playa, and my only mistake during many trips. Sorry to say that too much time on the Playa has hardened Maria. Very cute. Hangs around the fruit stand. Watch yourself, Maria is not a good time and a poor pick.

See what you like on the Playa, smile and hold up a beer (remember the bait). Motion her over. Talk a bit if you can. If not, you will be able to get your point across. Nice having NO middle man to raise the rates. HINT-take a little calculator along for negotiation. It will make things LOTS easier if you are a gringo. Again, they love to start at 300,000 for about anything. Smile like you know better, and let the negotiations begin. If the negotiation breaks down, or you really do not like her, thank her and send her back nicely to her chair on the beach. This is shopping time, get what you want!!

Now, how much? What do you want to do? I do not like quick things so I did not do any pricing on this-like a 2-3 hour fling. I like all night or 24 hours. If you like the girl, you can get them for about 150,000 pesos for 24 hours. Yes, they will ask for more, but tell them you will want them for several days if they are good. Tell them our will be in Cartagena for 3-10 days, and will want only one girl. You will be with them on the beach, do some drinking, and take them to dinner. They can stay at your apartment instead of the rotten place they are probably staying—with no air conditioning. If you want a great and fun time, this will work. If you do not like her the next am, kick her out and move on to another lady. After the first day, you can probably get her down to 100,000 pesos for 24 hours, this is a little over $50 dollars a day USD, plus a few drinks and dinner and taking care of her on the Playa. You do not need to pay more. All the girls would go for this unless they needed to pay a commission to Tony or others who made the introduction. The price would now be 200,000+ for just an overnight. Guys, I am not a great looking guy, in my late 50’s, and all of this was and is easy. I speak VERY little Spanish.

If you do not find something by 3:30pm, NOW you can talk to Tony if you must. He will say,”buy me one drink”, don’t do it, say you are the customer, buy Me ONE DRINK Tony. Tell Tony what you want, and pay the girl not more than $200,000 in pesos for the night. Tell Tony to get the commission from the girl and NOT YOU. He will try to get a commission out of both of you, but do not do it. Tell him you want to see his best girls, or NO MORE BUSINESS for Tony. The next day, get the girl for 24 hours for $150,000 pesos. BUT I would try to get Tony out of the deal completely. He does know many ladies, but you can SEE the ladies on the beach. Get Tony to send one to the beach that you have not seen, and that you may not want, and expect to pay through the butt. If you send her away, Tony is really going to harass you for some payment. Do not let Tony order drinks for girls ever, they can drink you beer (bait).

The beach touts will all try to ‘help’ you. You do not need their help. You can completely cut out the middle man. You do not need them. Believe me, the ladies would much more desire to deal with you than Tony or others. Again, cut out the middle man, all the ladies are independent contractors. Tony, Jaison, and others will try and work you aggressively. Just say no and do your own thing. This is NOT their beach. You got the money, it is YOUR beach and the girls know it. Work the girls my friends with many smiles. They love to smile and giggle just like flirting with your high school sweet heart. Easy stuff, it all comes back. The looks, winks, smiles, looking away, giggling—it is all fun and funny. It works.

Some of the beach girls you see will be stunning. Have fun with them. Buy the drinks from the bar directly, as well as any food on the beach. Cut out the touts. All of the touts are free lancers trying to cut themselves into all of the deals. Want a fish lunch, walk behind the beach bar with the new girl friend and get the fish yourself, and sit a table. Touts are experts at working you for money because they think YOU do not know Hollywood Playa. This report is all you need and please believe me.

OK, I have taught you how to be the hunter at Hollywood Playa and not the hunted. This information, if you hold your ground politely with the touts, will make you the king of Hollywood Playa. You are the king, you have the money. The touts are not needed, you and your money are needed by the ladies. Tony and other touts, get up in the am, head to the beach, and look for stupid gringos to work. Enjoy them, but tell them NO THANKS. Get started with Faustino immediately and first and you will be all set. Remember, finding and renting from Faustino first is the key to the perfect set up. Faustino only sells cabanas and beer and is not really a hustler. He will not set you up with chickas or other things. Trust him, he is the true concessionaire on Hollywood Playa.

Eating—make a left at the Hilton and hit the restaurant on the Lagoon. It is romantic, and the ladies will love you. Or go to Centro. Taxi, about 12.000 pesos. Romantic for the ladies. Will cost you more than eating in Boca Grande. Many restaurants in Boca Grande. Hated Romissimos. Julias good for breakfast. Jullias is next to Playa Mar in La Quito.

Also, for security and no worries, take a lock for you bag. Store your valuables in your bag, money, passport, computer---Also take a cable lock. Lock your bag, and then cable lock your bag to something that at is not easily moved—bed, desk. Never had a problem. Difficult for them to steal from you when you are sleeping. This works.

Oh, and for the best massage on Hollywood playa, ask for Emily. She sits around the little fruit stand. AND do not let all the beach people suck up all of your beers. Tell them you are out of money, and tomorrow you will buy them a beer. They all will try and get you to buy them a beer. Start this and it does not end. Say to them, “I am the customer, you should buy me a beer for my business”. This can also work.

Sorry for the paragraph errors and the syntax. I Wrote this report in word, and then pasted into the message box with poor results. Syntax, well written quickly in an airport. I would be interested is some success stories. Sorry, no pictures, but take some of your own.

This should teach all of you how to hunt. Again, the first key is fighting your way through the touts to get set up with Faustino. Once in the chair under the cabana, the world will be yours.

I highly recommend Julia's too. My favorite dish there is the deep fried snapper. In Espanol it is called pargo frito.

The best fish I got on the beach was at Dianne's. Go to the Hilton, and take the first access to the beach to the right--this is just before the Hilton. Ask her the price before hand. This was great. Dianne is the biggest black lady.

I have taken my own photos the last time I was there. Was there a reason why you didnt take photos?....not a criticism just curious.

Good report. I double spaced some of it to make it easier to read. We hit Playa Hollywood and it is fun there. I think it is more crowded depending on the time of year. I was there in November last time. We stayed out late a lot of nights and got a late start to the beach.

We ate at the Italian place right on the beach before heading to the apartment. Have rented from Juan several times and he is a good guy. From Spain and he speaks English.

If you are going to have more than a couple of drinks a bottle seems to be the way to go. Rum and Aquadiente is the cheapest. Vodka cost more.

I like Tu Candela a lot.

Tu Candela-

working, non-working and semipros. sometimes everyone is upstairs and other night people are on the 1st and second floor. Upstairs is small and people are normally dancing.


Mr. Barbillas-

mostly non-working.Big bar where most people are dancing by their tables.

La Dolce Vida-

all working. some dance but they are mostly standing around waiting for customers. there is a casino next door.

Electra-

Late night club. Techno music. You do have to sign in. The have an area outside if you want a more quiet spot.

Good report with good information, but you might find it easier to end each sentence with a period: "." rather than the phrase, "cut out the middle man"

I do not like to take a camera to the beach as i also like to swim. Security issue. This report was to help mongers hunt on the beach at Hollywood Playa. I would be interested if it works for those that try.

No offense taken. I have been mongering in France, England, Argentina, Brazil, Thailand, Phillipines, and have gotten great information from this board. However, most of the time, I do not write reports because I can add nothing to the previous reports.

This report should be good for the mongers going to Cartagena because it gets you very much 'dialed into' Hollywood Playa. Hollywood Playa will get you some lovely ladies in Cartagena. It also cuts Tony and the other touts out of the picture and will save my mongering brothers big bucks. Now everyone deserves a living, but folks that are out to screw gringos need to figure out another way to do business.

And Hollywood Playa is the place to go to see girls in their bikini's with all the goods on display. It is also much easier to get a bargin than going to the clubs. You can get to know them in the bright lights (not the darkness of a bar), slowly, and develope a relationship at only 2 bucks a beer or even $1.5 bucks a beer if you buy them yourself.

Okay, first time post on this and it's not a report... yet! I am going to go check out Colombia for a few days and am trying to decided between Cartagena and Medellin.

I have read great things on both. I am not a newbie, just a newbie to posting or writing here at CH. I hope to change that in 30 days.

I would like to access the largest contingency of top shelf talent, both mongering and non, and lastly my spanish sucks. (2 out of 10)
