This was my 1st trip to Costa Rica. It was from Saturday 6-5-10 to Friday 6-11-10. It won't be my last.

I inquired as to room availabilities online at Sportsmens Lounge (SL) a week before my flight. Got a confirmation of rooms available for the days I wanted in less than an hour. I then called their 800 number to book. A back up hotel would have been the Amistad which is just around the corner if SL was full but with 31 rooms they had my business.

I flew from ORD to SJO on American through MIA for $277 RT. Really hard to beat that price. Both flights were uneventful and went by quickly.


Day 1:

I arrived into SJO on time on at 3:35pm on American and got through immigration quickly. Headed down to the baggage claim and purchased a SIM card from I.C.E. Very easy process. Then went over to the BCR ATM and used two cards to pull about $900 dollars worth of Colones. I would never have to use another ATM. Afterward a quick X-Ray of my bags and I grabbed a red taxi and was on my way to SL.

Upon arrival at SL I quickly checked into my room, the Fiesta room. I quickly unpacked and got my camera gear set up and I was ready to hit the SL bar for the first time. I got to the bar and found the staff members to me kinda cute, Melissa in particular. I ordered a CR beer (an Imperial, good beer) and scanned the crowd for a bit. A few pretty girls were already in the bar and more came in as I sat there. I saw a real cute one enter with some friends. I knew from reading some posts by Orange that New Fantasy and Hotel Little Havana were not only open but very close by. I figured I'd try them out before heading to HDR.

The walk is easy enough, as you exit SL go right and make a right at the corner and go about three blocks and you are at New Fantasy. Just as others have written, you walk in and you basically are standing center stage of an audience of chicas that are ready and willing to please. About another long block and across the street, I went over to Hotel Little Havana. I got buzzed in the big outer gate and then through the glass door. Good Report! I have been to Costa Rica twice. I had a lot of fun there both times. There are some advantages to Costa Rica. There is a lot of tourist things to do. It is fairly easy to get around and is safe.

A lot of the best looking girls are from colombia which is what made me want to go to Colombia. The flights are normally cheaper there then Colombia or Brazil.

They have a lot of fishing and golf if interested. The fishing and all the other tourist stuff doesn't raise as many red flags when you tell people you are going there. Easier for someone with a signficant other to tell them they are fishing in Costa Rica.

There are a lot of fisherman. I like the atmosphere at the Del Ray and in San Jose. It is not the nicest city but it is fun to party there. You can also gamble.

I met a great girl when I was in Jaco. Jaco is not the nicest beach but I had a great time there. If you are with a group there are some nice houses you can rent in Jaco or any area of Costa Rica. I am not sure why San Jose does not have apartments rentals or at least not least time I checked.

I haven't been to Costa Rica in about five years so I am not sure what all has changed. It is pretty laid back there.

Jaco has a mix of surfers, fisherman and mongers. It is not a big mongering scene there. I found one I liked and stuck with here.

CN: Thanks for sharing your CR adventures. Your chica radar is always in top form so even without the photos I assume that the 'sisters' are gorgeous. Are they local or from another country (ie. Colombia)?

CN, you can fix your bad color cast from the ceiling by adjusting the White Balance in post processing with Capture NX2 or Photoshop, or any other RAW processing software. But you need to shoot in NEF.

I'm making my cherry visit to CR in January mostly for business, but I'm sure I'm get some mongering mixed in. I hope I can reap some great catches like you describe.

I am going to try to extend the trip to MDE to gain a perspective on the difference in talent and service.

SJO is certainly easier to get to from the US than Rio, my other frequent mongering site, so I really do hope I can find some quality service.
