Got up early as my first of two days had gone by the wayside. Some fabulous vistas in this town. I liked it alot! Stopped for lunch 4 hrs. later at "La Karbonade". A small pigout ensued. A 1.0 l. of Evian, 2 gl. of white "Domaine de Jales", a provincial salad with pine nuts & marinated peppers, and a medium-rare rib steak (with sea salt on the side) with mashed potatoes in butter. Finshed with a panacotta of pistachio nut & coulis of red berries. Damn' excellent and I felt much better. For 45.90 E., I should have. Bought my other niece a French cookbook, then a bottle of perfume for Mommy dearest, and finally a "Thierry Mugler" handbag for the other, younger niece. Relaxed with a blonde beer after hitting an Internet cafe for an hour. Finished the shopping by buying another bracelet for my sister.
Got back to the hotel, showered, and got ready. Made a few calls on my short list. No replies. Left two messages. Neither called back. Confirmed at reception that the "Miramar" was THE place in town for boullibaise. It was close, so I walked. No reservation necessary; and they gave me a super patio table. Decided to "blow-the-wad". This dish is their famous fish stew. It cost 58 Euros a head; and takes 40 minutes to prepare. I ordered a martini. Then a half bottle of "Mumm's". That tasted good so decided to get a lobster salad while waiting. That dish looked as good as it tasted; and several patrons came over to take a picture before it was consumed. First they brought some black truffles on toast. Then the fish soup. Finally the fish stew, surrounded with shrimp, clams, and a onion & potatoe medley. It was fantastic. But I needed their deluxe dessert to finish me off. That was one of the best meals of my life. But, it was a little pricey; at 142 Euros.
Walked around looking for some action. Found none. Went to the hotel and crashed after midnight.

€142 for dinner? Man Dr. J, I wish I had your budget on my travels.

Shit, I needed to google "Bouillabaisse" to know what the hell that was. Clearly, Dr. J is on a completely playing field than many of us.

When in France you should eat the best you can. Ignore the cost if you can and pay it later.

Bouillabaisse is fish-head stew.

J,
I like your culinary pictures. You should make a food porn compilation of all the dishes you've eaten in different countries. I also enjoy your street photography of regular women. Nice job!
