There is something about the Cowboy Sahara bar girl. Don't know what it is, but I like it.

You said you flew AA. How much of that flight was on an actual American Airlines plane? Did not think they flew ALL the way into BKK.

The ticket: 1200 CAD, AA until Tokyo, then a JAL to BKK.

Nice Pics! What kind of camera please? Is it conspicuous or pocket size every day use? cheers!

Nose snob Blazers is gonna LOVE these pics! I'm not sure what kind of monger rates pics by the size of their nose, but that's his "thing".

Zen, my preference: More words or racier pictures? :-)

Big Nasty Nikon D300, its so big i consider its the safest camera you can get to travel. No chics can fit this baby into a purse.

Haha yeah Porker i agree, they have Mike Tyson kinda nose. The second one got a killer ass, i was focusing on that...

Zen, are you shooting in RAW format? I love my D300 but it is a bitch to haul it, a couple of lenses, and a decent flash, around.

By Zenrico on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 - 02:26 am:  Edit

Yes i always shoot in RAW, when you try it you stick with it. I Use Capture NX2 to improve the shots. I carry my kit with a ThinkTank Airport International V2.0. It is a bitch to carry but i am use to it and with a good bag its easier.

Once you go RAW, there's no going back.

I kind of wish I stuck with the Canon G series camera and just bought a better flash. Instead, I went with a Canon DSLR and bought a few lenses. I love the pictures it takes, but its a beast to lug around. Anytime I take it out in public then there is a tendency for people to look at it and sometimes ask questions because they believe its an expensive piece. There is also a bit of time associated with the much larger pictures and greater resolution.

I love the pictures the DSLR takes, but hate the attention it draws and its much bulkier/heavier to lug around. On a multi-part trip, it sucks especially if you have to make multiple trips through airport security. The TSA doesnt like my lenses. A few times they asked me to take them out.

The Canon G series camera with a 580 EXII or even a 430 EXII will probably be a better combination for myself. If I had to do it again, then I would have just bought the Canon G and the Canon SX210IS for outdoor work (it has a 14x zoom). Those 3 items give you the ability for great indoor/flash photography and zoom/daytime work. The expense would also be less then the DSLR with different lenses/flash.

RAW is good, but I never use it because it involves a few extra steps and the time I dont have to do it.

I love the pictures of my T2i otherwise. It does very well.

Personally i don't understand why people buy these High-End compacts, with the price difference now, you can just jump to entry level DSLR.
If you love photography like i do, you don't mind carrying them around, and i actually like to play around and improve my RAW shots, for me its pleasure, not pain.
When i started, me too i worried about the attention it draws, but with time you just ignore people and do your stuff.
Zen.

I like the Cowboy Sahara girl!

I hope I'm not betting on the wrong horse, but to relieve some of the aggravations that come with carrying a lot of equipment (e.g., heavy carry-on bags, back strain, and so forth) I recently purchased a Panasonic micro four thirds format G2, along with a few lenses and a flash. The soon to be released GH2 also looks to be quite good. We'll see over the course of the next year or so whether I become a micro four thirds devotee, or revert to my DSLRs.

And I should probably add, it is not so much that I mind carrying around the DSLR(s), lenses, flash, etc.; it is my back that minds.
